(hint: it looks pretty shit)
I dunno, the environment looks alright but the special effects looked really bad. Obviously, that kind of stuff wouldn't fly in a finished product or even a beta version but if we're talking about the environment itself and disregard the badly done special effects, it looks decent for an early alpha. I mean, let's not forget that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is not really the prettiest game series out there(when not modded, obviously!) and the footage from old beta builds make SoC look like garbage aside from the really nicely made architecture in the buildings and whatnot. It looks cheapo as shit and more reminiscent of the Codename:Outbreak era games, sure, but to me it's more important how the game flows, what kind of an open-world dynamic the game has going on and what the firefights in the game feel like than external factors which were not handled well in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series in the first place. The most important thing is that they've actually showcased some gameplay and proof that it's in fact, a legit product even if it's state in the pre-alpha or whatever the hell they claim it to be looks like very unimpressive at this point.

Frozen Zone...
This Areal video just convinced me....this is the shittiest attempt at a videogame. It looks like acrappy Stalker mod rushed beyond belief. I'm pretty sure I saw apre-alpha video of the first Stalker that was 100X better than this at the time.
lol fuck atmosfear 3's bullshit just decides to put a psi storm right in the middle of the pripyat evac section
I had a psi storm while I had to defend the scientists taking readings around a pond while having to defend them from mutants. That was fucking hard.

Heh. Doggy Pile.
went back to the range today shot a colt 1911 (absolute beast of a handgun, that .45 gives it a ridiculous kick) an mp40 (so easy to use, a real joy) and a thompson m1a1, which kicks like a mule since it uses the .45 again - good luck hitting anything in the room firing full auto
Today I went to a shooting range in Vegas
Was that your first time shooting? Did you go to that place 10min or so from the strip that has all of the billboard advertising? If so, I used an m249 there not too long ago. Sorry for off-topic.

Sorry for off-topic.
my first time with anything but a .22 or a paintball gun yeah the place was called battlefield vegas, it's like a fucking army base
I fired a Mosin Nagant once. 'Twas fun.
I fired a Mosin Nagant once. 'Twas fun.
I was gonna shoot a mosin but it was under the sniper rifle pricing so it was like 5 rounds for 40 bucks worth it for my baby the SVD tho <3

I got fire an SVD, once, five rounds too bad I couldn't hit shit because I didn't have my glasses with me
I hope I can start with regular handguns in a year or so. I'm planning to start with targetshooting and maybe buy a Glock when I get a license. But one thing I want is a nice revolver.
If I ever get to live in the States or in Czech Republic, the first thing I will buy for range shooting will be a SKS
Am I the only one who liked the default green polymer furnitured AK-74/u?
went back to the range today shot a colt 1911 (absolute beast of a handgun, that .45 gives it a ridiculous kick)
Really? When i shot a .45 1911 handgun, it felt like a 9mm. Then again it was a double stack clone that resembles a .45 Hardballer. Thing was a monster in my hands, almost too big to hold. Held 16+1 rounds, would not want to be up against someone with such a gun in a firefight.
Am I the only one who liked the default green polymer furnitured AK-74/u?
I used to despise it a few years ago and accepted just about any mod that changed it but roughly two years back I started liking it again and now it's one of my favorite vanilla skins. The default AKS-74, I mean, the 74u from SoC kinda looks like vomit to me, I like the Vanilla Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat skins for it, though!
I miss my Galil, got to fire it so much in the army last year. Probably fired like 1000 or more rounds during the whole service.
I got fire an SVD, once, five rounds too bad I couldn't hit shit because I didn't have my glasses with me
my eyes are pretty crap but the scope on that thing was so good and the firing is so smooth I got 5/5 headshots /pro
I miss my Galil, got to fire it so much in the army last year.
I got to spend some time with a Galil once, after a week-long AK class. The Israeli's make pretty good stuff, I was really impressed with the changes they made to the AK platform. I can see why you miss it :P Have you ever used the Jericho/Baby Eagle (9mm)? I had one of those for a while and, likewise, thought it was a nice upgrade from the CZ 75 platform, too. Actually, I have an unfinished sound design dev diary video for LURK where I was using it to record bullet impact noises in wood ... looking for the pic ... Anyway, I hate to bring up Areal again, if anyone wants a good laugh, the main comment section of the Areal kickstarter is pretty great right now.
Galil SAR. That girl is a beast. Was using Galil AR during my first months of military service.
I keep getting confused by the Galil and RK-95, but that's to be expected with the Galil being initially based off the RK-62. I imagine if we ever decide to change the standard ammunition for our small arms (we went with 7.62x39 since that's what the Soviets used, but that means bugger all now), the Galil would be a sensible direction to take.
the Galil would be a sensible direction to take.
...but not necessarily the most politically convenient one, since they tried to sell the ARX-160s for the Finnish Defense Forces on the premise that they could be constructed here and create jobs that way.
we went with 7.62x39 since that's what the Soviets used, but that means bugger all now
Yeah, but Finland has decades' worth of old 7.62x39 sitting around ; conscripts today are still shooting off ammunition made in the 80's and apparently the production lines haven't stopped to this day so, with the modernization of the RK-62 platform they could kick it all the way up to the 2050s if they wanted. The thing is, switching to any existing other caliber in the near future or right now would be unwise, because there's no telling what the next standard NATO(or whatever Defense Union's going to be the most relevant for Finland come the 2030s since NATO is really a Cold War relic and a little America-centric for both the EU and U.S) cartridge is going to be, so while 5.56x45 would guarantee really available ammunition for generations to come, it would be better to hold off on to see whether the 6.8 or 6.5 becomes a 'thing' and if it does, would some better universal service rifles come along with it. The 2030's are also such a long way away at this point that we don't even know whether Finland is going to retain the conscript-based army along with a large pool of reservists or if they'll switch to a smaller, but all-professional military in which case it would allow more flexible solutions for the next service rifle because it would allow the per-unit cost to be a bit higher.

Yet I never got to go shooting more than a few times :c Tahdon olla kommenusmies, taistelukenttien turhin mies :v
