Millenia makes the best weapon textures
Beacon add Sten to redux worst mod ever 2013
Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.
They said the Zone would be a haven for people like us
Where no laws apply, no authority to defy
A free land ruled by man himself
They tell stories that can spark your wildest dreams
Stories of darkness falls by blinding light
They talk of living nightmares and legends alike
But in the Zone, nothing is as it seems
Brutal memories still burn bright in my mind
... Pieces torn from flesh by something yet defined
... Flashes of light so bright no eye can withstand
Mutations so grotesque ... Gods be damned
'Mystical' forces dot the landscape where a single step
Misplaced can mean the end of any man
They call these forces anomalies; completely unknown to nature
Not that anything is natural anymore
In a land where nothing is safe,
Even the plants have developed a taste for blood
Radiation storms perverse the Zone,
The Earth will moan in pain as the sky darkens
And clouds so thick they seem alive
Deep within the zone echoes a guttural groan*
As bands of irradiated light whip across the sky
Any poor souls caught within are shredded by burning winds
Anomalies seemingly lift up and move around
But in death and chaos rises renewal
In light of this horrible blight lives a miracle
'Miracles' enough to bend the will of man
If the Zone won't kill you, he will
There are worse dangers than mutants, radiation storms and anomalies
In the Zone, your worst enemy is your friend
The greed of Artifacts will cause men to turn on one another
The pull of the Zone will twist any kind of mind
Turning those most loyal to ferality
Animosity runs rampant among those who dwell within*
Welcome to the Z-

That's why you take cover before writing something, rookie.
Sometimes you only got 5 seconds before it tells you to take cover across the map
I'm installing People Soup again. Anyone have a cave save for the new Stalker Soup?

If you're looking for a save right after the cave.

Never owned / played a stalker game, but gosh darn it I want to.

install call of pripiryate complete, it makes the game look nicer and play call of pripyat. then play clear sky with complete and then shadow of chernobyel with complete or AMK 1.4
complete and amk 1.4 are just graphics mods that don't change how the game plays at all

Why do I lose the will to continue playing TFW as soon as I get a Mosin? :(
It's better choice to start with Shadow of Chernobyl because it does the best job of easing the player into the game world as well as explaining what the game is about in the first place and introducing the player to the factions and the main plot. Not to mention it's probably the cheapest of the three.

God damn it Muukkis I told you not to get high with those Freedomers and their herbs.

Thanks but it wants to fuck up 17 different ways so I think I'll try again some other day :P
Why does everyone want to skip the cave? It's a part of the people soup experience.

Some people just can't handle the carts.
puny western european men are not ready for glorious mod
Tried installing and playing Fallout: NV yesterday
I... I can't... why are ironsighted weapons so inaccurate and not powerful
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has spoiled me by granting ironsights that can actually hit things and weapons that do damage

Because in STALKER the PC is usually trained in weapons before the game starts but in Fallout the PC just some dude who's probs never used a gun before so they have to actually grasp the skill
What I don't understand is how in the heck are a brainwashed, malnourished, exhausted amnesiac, a psi-molested 60-year old mercenary, and a seasoned but still rather young and inexperienced agent, along with a rag tag population of petty thieves, smugglers, peasants, urban dwellers, somewhat trained conscripts, and psychotically-challenged band of lunatics, all which fare from either Ukraine or Russia, and have usually never handled a gun in their life beforehand, all better shots than people born and raised in the nuclear wasteland of North Fucking America?
Tolik, considered the rookiest of all rookie stalkers, could beat the radiation out of game start Courier.

because eastern europe didn't waste time with vaults

Because F:NV is a full RPG instead of an FPS with RPG elements. The shootery elements of F:NV are more FPS-like than it's predecessor Fallout 3 because you can actually aim down sights and what not but the gunplay is more reliant on number crunching than player skill / NPC A.I This is why you're a lot of time better off just using V.A.T.S than pretending that F:NV is an FPS type game even though the option to try and play it like one is there.
Also, isnt Degtyarev a STALKER before the events of CoP?
He's been on undercover missions as a stalker but considering he's attained the rank of Major and the fact that his occupation is not in the military in the "traditional" sense but rather belonging to the S.B.U (KGB's successor) he hasn't been a "stalker" in the sense that his business in the Zone has been in the line of duty instead of illegally crossing the fence like most stalkers.

Too be fair, arent you an amnisiac in FO:NV? You just got your brains blown out right? And all the protagonists of the other fallout games, except FO2 I think, we people raised in the pristine environments of the vaults and had never touched a gun. The protagonists of all the STALKER games are hardened veterans and know what the fuck they were doing when it came to shooting and the zone.

And what about all the minor characters of both games?
I'm not talking just protagonists here, the majority of people that stalk The Zone have a far shorter lifespan than your average wastelander, and even the veterans have the absolute highest field time of three or four years, with the minority's majority being around for at most one or two, so how come they're all exceeding the capabilities of people which obviously survived life on the surface of a nuclear wasteland, two centuries after collapse of society?

Well, in STALKER, most, if not all, of the higher end, experienced stalkers have had military experience. Mercs, Duty, Freedom, Military, probably most veteran loners, they'll all have training in that sort of stuff. Same thing with FO. It would all be based on the experience "level" of that character. Most of all though, its a gameplay thing. STALKER is a shooter. Its based on your skill and the quality of the gun you have. FO is an RPG and is based on stats and dice rolling.
I don't know, I guess it is a gameplay irk to me rather than a fluff-based one. Probably a side effect of trying to make RPG mechanics work on guns.
wanting to play STALKER again. what are some good mods to try out? I have CoP installed, would have to install SOC for mods on that, so ideally good CoP ones.

does it stop the game from crashing so much?
If you want something that stays fairly close to the basics but improves the A-Life a great deal you could try out M.S.O if you haven't already. It goes nicely with AtmosFear 3(+ATP).
If you want more content there's the usual suspect SGM 2.2 which features boatloads of content* like new missions, guns, faction missions, bodyguard system, artifact recipes etc.
*said content kinda varies in quality though
