Ah shit, the only download mirror for some mod I gotta download is currently fucked. ;-;
right, reposting for a new page and hopefully it works this time [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZwVvl71JnM[/media] the new Metro Redux versions are looking really really good
I'm glad it includes all the DLC, there were some parts in that trailer where I remember didn't happen. Figured they were DLC parts that I didn't buy(all of them), so I cannot wait to try them out.
Loads of marketing bullshit about the power of the " next-gen consoles " but otherwise it looks neat.
okay yeah i want this now
Damn, I thought redux was only improving the look, I didn't know about those new encounters and gamemodes. Looks like I'm gonna have a reason to replay Metro again.

Where is a lot of the replay value in these games? I've gone through and played SoC and Clear sky multiple times now, but I always end up taking a break because repeating quests isn't hugely fun. This thread is seriously big though, and its generally alive, so what keeps everyone coming back? (Aside from quests and the awesome gameplay)
It's the modding scene that does. I'm still heavily into The Soup and SGM myself.

This thread is seriously big though, and its generally alive, so what keeps everyone coming back? (Aside from quests and the awesome gameplay)[/QUOTE] As was said, the multitude of mods help make things fresh again after you've played a couple of times - but also for me it's that there's nothing really like the games. Before I played stalker I was heavily into the newer fallout games because of the post-apocalyptic atmosphere and survival-esque gameplay, but ever since I started playing STALKER I haven't really revisited fallout 3/NV games because I found STALKER was, even with the issues, kind of the perfect survival experience I had been looking for, especially given how strongly I feel about good atmosphere (I'll play diablo 1 over 2 because of it).
[QUOTE=flamehead5;45632348]Where is a lot of the replay value in these games?[/QUOTE] I like to play SoC / CoP because observing the A-Life create all kinds of new and exciting encounters make the game world feel really alive in my opinion. [QUOTE=flamehead5;45632348]but I always end up taking a break because repeating quests isn't hugely fun. [/QUOTE] Yeah, that's why I personally usually eschew quests for just day to day stalkan, going out in the sticks in the morning and returning with loot late in the evening and seeing if I can break even / make a profit. That's why I usually play CoP w/M.S.O. or in the case of SoC some Xiani's Freeplay start / DMM permadeath runs because in my personal opinion it's more fun to play when you don't mash quicksave every few minutes and you have to make occasional judgments whether to retreat toward the safe camp early on to avoid getting killed by mutants before you have a chance to resupply your meds et al. [editline]herp[/editline] These days I've been more interested in freeplay mods than anything else, really. I'm feeling that quicksave-driven gameplay is just a fake challenge and not very exciting when you know that progress is only reliant on your patience. New story mods are of course, always nice, but I honestly feel like I'm just biding my time until a no-nonsense freeplay mod for Lost Alpha emerges.
I'd like to see a mod where getting to the center of the zone is the end goal, like ShoC except how you do it is up to you. I.E. there might be certain barriers to entry that require certain spending capabilities - so maybe you'd have to fund the scientists to get a working psi-protection prototype/research upgrades for it so you can go deeper, but not necessarily a questline to do it. Other areas might require certain specific types of protection properties from armors, or maybe even artifacts. Basically the idea is you'd make your own way however you want to - by artifact hunting, doing jobs, joining factions, or being a dick and murdering stealing, etc. So i guess kinda like the initial ideas for ShoC mixed with something like the freeplay basis for CoC. For random quests, something like daggerfall could probably be the inspiration - that game's side quests were all strung together using random names, locations, and mixed in with bits and pieces of interchangeable properties and for 1996 it did it surprisingly well. If something like that was refined for stalker to make the random generated sidequests more interesting - mix that with a massive playspace like the levels from LA and the PDA contact system that lets you accept quests and get rewards like money so you don't have to walk all the way back, and you could have some really interesting sidequests that could have enough variations that it keeps things quite interesting for questing without ever having to have a scripted setup.
Ok, NOW im having an actual issue with AA2. When I got to start a new game, it crashes instantly, and I get no log. I checked their FAQ and they said to drop the graphical settings and I did, and I still get the crash. Any idea? I havent been itching to play STALKER since the last time I played through CoP with Redux, and this is killing urge to both cheek and breek
did you get rid of sweetfx? delete your user.ltx? etc.
neither of those worked

You then create an additional progression after the first progression from leather jacket to exo suit, where you go from easily damaged non-combat researcher suit and start out stealthing a lot and eventually get hold of anomalous zone protective exo armor.
[QUOTE=Wulfram;45632982]neither of those worked[/QUOTE] It doesn't produce a log? Usually it'll copy something to the clipboard, try pressing CTRL+V after you crash and see where the crash occurs, if it says something like "stack trace:" You're basically fucked.
[QUOTE=Wulfram;45632982]neither of those worked[/QUOTE] Disable steam overlay
[QUOTE=LoNer1;45634270]Disable steam overlay[/QUOTE] Or Dxtory, FRAPS or any other screen overlay.
Time to spam my own mod again! PPx just got a visual update (dont mind the bloom / no grass, it's a vanilla STALKER because I screwed things up with 1.0007) [t]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/219/0/c/shaders__5__by_mod_a_holic-d7u5t3d.png[/t][t]http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/219/8/c/shaders__6__by_mod_a_holic-d7u5t08.png[/t] Combing the best of all shader mods / edits out there, without overdoing any effects! I think it's the most stable and neutral shader package there is, but then again I'm biased so yeah :v: Follow this link to the gallery [URL]http://sta.sh/2y6xyvhnaci?edit=1[/URL]

When can I get it? What STALKER game is it for?
Fuck. Apparently in Road to Limansk monolith snipers are so accurate that they can consistently snipe your gun out of your hand The new 9x39 weapons in this mod are wonderful, I hope someone ports these models/anims to CoP/ShoC. Also it really pisses me off that there's no bar/wild territory in CS - it just makes it feel so disjointed seeing it on the map and yet going straight from the garbage to army warehouses
[QUOTE=Shadower1337;45635904]Oh my god. When can I get it? What STALKER game is it for?[/QUOTE] Lol. I take this as one of the best compliments I can get. It's heavily modified SHOC by the way!
[QUOTE=mecaguy03;45629631]Ok, is there a way to edit my save files with the goal of adding/subtracting items? I have met this stalker that has an artifact that I can take to beard, and I can trade it for a weapon I got from nimble. I intend to just shoot him as soon as I get the artifact and take my weapon back, but when I kill him the weapon either disappears from existence, drops on the ground with about 15% condition (was greater than 90%), or the game crashes. The artifact also is not on the body if I shoot him before the trade. Im calling bullshit glitches on this and I want to edit my inventory as if my plan had worked. I am running misery btw. such is life in the zone[/QUOTE] If you are still after a solution I shall share one with you now. Go to wherever your installation folder is and open up Misery's gamedata folders. Go into the scripts file (NOT the scripts folder inside config, but the very first script folder in the folder tree) Find your [b]bind_stalker.script[/b] and open it with Notepad++ or Notepad or...whatever you want to use. With in this file look for the section going by: [b]function actor_binder:update(delta)[/b] [b]object_binder.update(self, delta)[/b] Add a extra line and place this. [b]if not db.actor:object("Weapon name here") then alife():create("Weapon name here", db.actor:position(), db.actor:level_vertex_id(), db.actor:game_vertex_id(), db.actor:id()) end[/b] Within the spaces that say Weapon Name here. You need to replace with the entry for whatever it is that you wish to spawn. IE to spawn a Makarov into your inventory you replace [b]"Weapon name here"[/b] with [b]"wpn_pm"[/b] Keep in mind this code will KEEP spawning whatever you choose if you do not have it in your inventory. IE. If you make it spawn a bandage, and you run out of bandages it will instantly spawn another right into your inventory. And will keep doing so. On that note, once you have put in the weapon entry you need. Simply load your game. Once you check your Inventory to check that the thing you need is there. Save, and then quit the game, and then remove that line from your [b]bind_stalker.script[/b] Again, this will ONLY spawn the weapon IF you do not currently have one within your equipped slots or the general inventory. So if you were to give the person the weapon, another will be spawned at 100% condition right back into your inventory.
I got told to post this here: [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/GK5ad8K.png[/IMG] [url]http://www.gameru.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=55777&st=1700&p=1489128&#entry1489128[/url]
[QUOTE=Wulfram;45635802]no crash log at all [editline]8th August 2014[/editline] didnt work[/QUOTE] Installed AA2 today after a long period of time and a new gfx card, reinstalled SHoC, followed everything that the AA2 install instructions told me to do and included the NoDVD crack, getting the same issue. CTD w/o any crash log and disabling Steam Overlay/ENB/SweetFX has made no change, zone_news.ltx does not exist in gamedata/config/text or gamedata/config/ at all, therefore I cannot do the language fix, not sure why it's happening. I'll let you know if I come upon anything, but right now what I tried doing was installing the 1.0006 to 1.0004 downgrade then copying over the mod, then installing the XR_3DA crack and it's just throwing a crash, the .log for xray doesn't have anything in it, either, so I believe it's because of some unknown RAM cap, however doing the 4GB patch fix for XR_3DA just leaves me with a crash still, which would indicate it's not that. EDIT: RAM is not an issue, I had 20% load and opened up XR_3DA, loaded into a singleplayer game and crashed instantly. Never had this issue before. Running as admin and in compatibility mode has not helped. EDIT 2: No clue, my PC shouldn't have an issue, I'm not going to use img tags because the img is quite big, but it's muh specs. AA2 is for 1.0006, don't downgrade
[QUOTE=Cpt.MEEM;45638630]AA2 is for 1.0006, don't downgrade[/QUOTE] The install instructions say to downgrade to 1.0004? All of my what...if this is true, I'm going to be pretty unhappy. EDIT: SHIT, it worked, thanks yo.
