Was Lost Alpha good? Everything it was hyped up to be?
lol no tl;dr amazing maps, but they are all empty and the story literally advances to uncover a [sp]weird gay fantasy[/sp]
It wasn't terrible, still worth playing. Just don't expect an amazing story
lol no tl;dr amazing maps, but they are all empty and the story literally advances to uncover a [sp]weird gay fantasy[/sp]
Supposedly it got a lot more spawns in the new patch on those emptier maps.
It wasn't terrible, still worth playing. Just don't expect an amazing story
After all those years of production and they couldn't find someone to make a worthwhile story?
The backbone of the story is passable, it's basically what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. should've originally been according to the Olddocumentdesignstory.pdf but there's some weird strands in the story that do not feel like at all that they should fit into a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. Most of the game the story is quality-wise in line what you'd expect from a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. title.
Everything it was hyped up to be?
Don't expect a A-Life/World simulation centric game. It feels like an okay, but linear romp through amazingly crafted S.T.A.L.K.E.R. environments but it has it's fair share of issues that range from what was already mentioned, the spawns being rather uneventful for such massive sized maps and in my personal opinion there are some serious flaws in scenario design, mostly some of the pointless backtracking in the earlygame that could've been easily cut out and some really aggravating instances of taking away player's own approach to a situation. It doesn't really feel like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-themed Far Cry 1 or something. On it's own it's imo a good game, but it's incredibly disappointing in terms of what possibilities the incredible framework would've made it possible to be. It can still be incredibly atmospheric in some moments, just don't expect too much of the game going in and don't accentuate the negative either in your expectations and you'll probably enjoy it.

Story-wise it starts off okay and kinda cool, but it seems to slowly get worse, as does the voice acting. And the underground maps really aren't a fraction as scary as the originals and they seemed to focus on scripting scares that, at least IMO, a lot of times fell flat. There's definitely some good ambience though
Supposedly it got a lot more spawns in the new patch on those emptier maps.
Playing it again I haven't really noticed but I didn't even get past the dark valley EDIT: Are there any quick tweaks i can do to make bandits hostile and make more enemy spawns in CoP? I want to make the game more challenging but I can't use one of those overhauls because I'm using the STCoP weapons which only has merge patches for AF3/ABS and SGM (i think)
Anyone asked for a MISERY weapon mod? http://www.moddb.com/mods/misery-the-armed-zone
Anyone asked for a MISERY weapon mod? http://www.moddb.com/mods/misery-the-armed-zone
Been playing with this for the past few days, it's actually pretty great. Some of the icons are a little wonky, but most look good, and the models are fantastic for the most part. Highly recommended for anyone that plays MISERY.
We were Redux first, no need to relabel for that ;) Great minds just think alike obviously? We're relabeling mainly because Redux 2.0 has come so far and is so utterly different to any previous Redux experience and even Redux 1.0, that it's really become a completely different mod. It makes no sense to keep it under the Redux 'brand' any more.
You didnt say anything about it not being a Way of the Wolf reboot. :tinfoil: [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] I also just got to Yantar in AA2 and holy shit that was a nightmare. first 4 times I just fuckled by snorks, then one time I was able to get to the shore of the swamp without the snorks noticing me but got blasted by a zombie. next time I was able to kill the zombie, take all his gear, but then I walked right into a springboard that I could barely see. finally was able to avoid the snorks, kill some zombies and get some gear, then regroup with Vasiliev. Didnt help that entering the zone dropped me from about 50 feet in the air and took half my health. [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] I do feel like Stalker (and its mods) are some of the few games that really get how bright is during the day. Even though they arent the best looking games out there, sometimes just that fact makes it look better than others [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/46479314768533848/554500AC615387D34E3368CB4A8A02C8E6768AE3/[/t][t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/46479314768535499/AB2936DE3779C6509DFB4B705D2A2398B0A20FFD/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/46479314768636744/2F968E1DEDEF5C5EA534D8AEDEDC57376D30FAAF/[/t] Forest is a really good zone. Is it original to AA2, or was it a cut zone. I dont think I remember even reading about it or hearing of it before.
I disagree, with mods CoP looks astounding compared to other games. It really has a realistic look to it.
Anyone asked for a MISERY weapon mod? http://www.moddb.com/mods/misery-the-armed-zone
Does it have new animations?
I disagree, with mods CoP looks astounding compared to other games. It really has a realistic look to it. Does it have new animations?
It does, most of the new weapons have them, and they are quite good. 51 weapons in total in the mod now.
I disagree, with mods CoP looks astounding compared to other games. It really has a realistic look to it. Does it have new animations?
The problem stalker has is its animations and models. While the scenery and lighting are great, the character models and reload animations look exactly like the did in the early builds from 2003-4, which is jarring compared to the rest of the way the game looks. Some mods help, but if there was a mod that added entirely new STALKER models, weapon models, and animations, it would look so much better.
The characters models are fine-ish, the worst thing shape wise are the feet... They are way to wide, and are shaped weirdly. It just need better faces, hands and textures and the models are fine.
This was pretty bad even by 2004's standards. Thats why I'm so excited for Gunslinger. Gameplay changes aside, the high quality animations and models look amazing

What mod is that? Does it add new STALKER models and mutant models as well? [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] Looks like Frozen Zone, which is another mod I'm looking forward to
Nah, its just a russian weapons pack (STCoP) combined with absolute nature and atmosfear. The anims are really great though. I think the mutant models are fine, though some could use new textures - the old suits/suited stalkers use remodels though - and especially the fucking FP arms. My god even though the hands in SoC were bad at least they looked like hands - CoP's have a better texture but the fingers look like weird sausages and the palm does not have proper curvature at all.
This was pretty bad even by 2004's standards. Thats why I'm so excited for Gunslinger. At least they have multiple types of pistol animations for bigger pistols, and they don't have that shitty ass slide pull that CS/CoP has where it looks like the PC can't even do it right because he has finger cramps or something. Seriously fuck everything about CS pistol anims, I never used them vanilla because they sucked so hard. And don't even get me started on that god forsaken abhorrent piece of shit that was the CoP knife animations
Is the ghillie at all worth it?

Repeated crash bugs, save bugs, A-Life corruptions, quest bugs (like some quest markers being outside the play area) and other wonky shit kept me from ever playing the game right, thanks GSC :v:

Like theres this really weird gap in between the hand and the handguard that you can notice if you look closely enough and its there for like, half the weapons in the game
Nice to see smrtphoneusr back again, he was instrumental in teaching me a lot of what I learned when I first started modding CoP. And no, the new Redux relaunch is not WotW back from the dead, sorry!
=( snipped the video
Vid doesn't work :(
[vid]http://webmup.com/qCM4G/vid.webm[/vid] is this better? [editline]11th August 2014[/editline] im still stuck on this part btw. I refuse to lower the difficulty or cheat. [editline]11th August 2014[/editline] finally did it
Playing missouri, artefact hunting with my SP-99m because the ghillie suit actually kind of sucks, out in the open when emission hits time to snort this cocaine
Tried to install the Moooseroo weapon pack but I somehow fucked up, welp, time for a reinstall.
Forest is a really good zone. Is it original to AA2, or was it a cut zone. I dont think I remember even reading about it or hearing of it before.
It's not a part of the cut levels AFAIK. It's just another part of the small count of fan-made S.T.A.L.K.E.R. levels. Also, seeing that you're playing that ST2 merge, I'll warn you in advance that there's another ambush in Pripyat, though I think that Charon teleported you straight to the place instead of you having to go there.
I made this for the DS2 thread, but then I realized it looked somewhat like a SEVA Suit if the scientists just decided to fuck around with its design while snorting ground up Jellyfishes. I probably should have used the blue visor for this, but that thing looks hideous. You know, some mod needs to add a white SEVA suit, or at least a greyish one. It's a nice color.
