There isn't much point to it because Survarium's coming and even if that blows, it'd be likely easier to make a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod for a game that better supports co-op than to work out the kinks of the A-Life simulation so it could be optimized better for more than one player.

That's true, but seeing as actual co-op in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as people envision it, will probably never happen, it's best to start looking up alternatives. Survarium's co-op might be really good seeing as they're former S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers so they might at least get the feel of the gunplay and the atmosphere right but we'll have to wait and see for that.

A STALKER mod for a game that is not STALKER will never feel like STALKER.

Traditional optics would be the best imho. Nothing as great as having light reflect within your scope

STALKER coop would be the sickest shit of all time though, ye should atleast look into it and try your best. If ye'd succeed you'd be gods among people.

So I was browsing the survarium forum, idk if its true since it was someone quoting a dev without quotes but he said that lean was planned and freeplay is basically gonna be kinda like dayz in that you get one life and if you die you loose all your loot you get from it, and there will be friendly/hostile human npcs and mutants, and other players can kill you. And to "escape" with your loot you have to exit in some sort of exit area or something.
I kinda hope that stuff is true, the loot thing seems like it would be a good way to create tension, especially against mutants.

I would absolutely love a STALKER/Arma/DayZ mash-up. The STALKER lore and universe combined with DayZ survival mechanics, inventory, loot scarcity and spawns, persistence, PvP, as well as Arma weaponry and vehicle handling. This is the dream game I would worship for quite some time.

Hey Beacon, do you plan on implementing Gunslinger in with Redux when(if ever) it's released?
I do like Redux because it has a simplicity to it, and mostly because it works, unlike Misery for me. Although I absolutely hate the default weapon models. The hands, the wrong side of the ejection ports, and it's all just cringe worthy.
Decided to give Misery 2.1.1 a go, and for some reason the rain is insanely loud.

soc has best story/immersion, cs has the best map, cop has great mods and playable mp that doesn't require heavy modding.

most of the soc mp servers run on a 1.0006 patch that isn't official and seems to be impossible to find, which uses mods and shit as well.

SoC establishes the story, setting, atmosphere etc perfectly and is recommended for first timers. It is the most 'STALKER' out of all the games.
CS builds upon it but turns it into a more traditional FPS game with faction wars while expanding/modifying existing maps. A lot less atmosphere and raw STALKER vibe though.
CoP chucks out all the old maps and replaces them with a few large ones. Gameplay is certainly different, visuals are arguably worse than the previous games but the story progression and quests feel a lot tighter.
All the games are great but each sequential game has huge spoilers from the previous games therefore it is generally advised to play SoC -> CS -> CoP
Anyone remembers that mod for CS that added tons of guns and stuff, was hailed as the best of all CS mods compiled, then had a failed release? What happened to it? It had few betas that crashed a lot, plus freeplay

Nah, it was a compilation mod by some guy, it's deleted from moddb now, but surely someone remembers, it was recommended every time someone asked for a CS mod few months ago, CS 2014 i think it was called

Really? I didn't beat the MQ but from what I played It seemed fairly stable, only had like 1 crash in red forest once.
Back when it was CS 2014 though it crashed a lot.

I saw some pretty crazy MP mod for SoC a few years back. Can't remember what it was called for the life of me.
