Swamps. Swamps. Swamps. Fuck the swamps.
At least the swamps look nice, the cordon is pretty boring.
How Russian is this on a scale of 0 - 10.01?

back when we were having loads of the old levels, yeah
At least the swamps look nice, the cordon is pretty boring.
I really wish the old build cordon would've made it to release at least. Visually it was a hell of a lot more interesting than the final one IMO
idk the Cordon should have had more stuff in it. like maybe a largeish village and some more interesting farms and etc. There's not just much to it that you can just mess around and explore which is sorta what I like to do at the start of the game, you just go get some sausage from one side of it and bring it to sid on the other so it's pretty much the best walking sim since DayZ.
There's not really enough exploring and scavenging in general in STALKER maps for me. I wish there were tons of little stashes all over the place, rewarding you for going off the path and thinking about where a stalker might hide his loot.
it's frustrating that stashes in SOC aren't filled until you actually get the pda note like, there's no point in exploring if 70% of the stashes you come across are empty for the first time
Lovely map, terrible implementation.
Incredibly well themed, put together pretty nice overall. The issue is the lack of effort mixed with the water slowing you to a crawl. There were a lot of really cool parts in the swamps, but they were never fleshed out. They were just there. The broken sight lines would've been cool if the AI couldn't see you through the parts you could walk though. The water was biggest issue though, the sheer amount of it everywhere made traversing the swamps a fucking nightmare.

I did a game where I KOS'd every non-story line character and even faction members after unlocking red forest and concluded that the odds of getting "ghost his stash" (special exo, vss and ammo) were near 0%. I killed at least 2500 stalkers
I think a big gripe for me is how easy it is for the AI to spot you, especially in the dark.
While its stupid you can't find stashes in ShoC, i do kinda like the whole "find info about x stash" mechanic. I wish by default stashes would be filled with randomized loot that could be pretty good or bad but then you can find stash coordinates and it replaces them with whatever's in the stash. I don't think it wouldn't make sense, it could be like somebody visited the stash after you cleared it out.

Random Idea: Would be cool if you could "track" NPC's and wait for them to hide a stash. Would add an element to the game that it is missing. Scenario: Using binoculars you see a NPC or group of NPC's in the distance, one fo which is carrying a large backpack. You follow them at a safe distance until you see them enter a small building. A minute or so later you see them leave without the backpack, so now you know they stashed in in there somewhere. Once they are a safe distance away you search the building for the stash. IDK - just throwing out ideas. I'm not a modder, just a huge fan of the games and this would have been a cool mechanic that they could have had in STALKER 2. RIP

Could have it so they could be friendlies too so you may not want to kill them, and if you get to close and get detected it stops them from stashing it there. TBH I'd be happy if that could get in the game as is with really basic animations for it (crouching then getting back up) because that sounds like a nice extra gameplay element that also has some light moral implications (maybe taking the guys stuff makes him more likely to get killed or something)

Taking it a step further: Early in the game tracking other NPC's is especially important because you have very little gear, armor, and bad weapons. Even if you wanted to kill a group of NPC's, it would be very difficult. Therefore learning how to track, follow and "stalk" NPC's becomes vital in the beginning so you can acquire better gear.
for those who want to get their hands dirty w/ OLR 2.5 and comprehend polish, the official polish localization is now out: https://mega.co.nz/#F!XE4xzTxS!G3UGMLKU8-WnPUIQUHIEWA

Well done! :v:
Have you tried Lost Alpha?
Yeah, I love the new maps they made. I wish someone could just take those as a base and overlay a freeroam mod or AMK or something. I remember there not being a whole lot of loot to be scavenged, like going down in the Cordon tunnels and barely finding anything. But maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.
So I posted this, but I don't understand what the negative responce is about. Do most people really loathe STALKER or what is it?

Say, which Stalker would you guys recommend for a first? I liked being a slav in Metro 2033.
Say, which Stalker would you guys recommend for a first? I liked being a slav in Metro 2033.
Shadow of Chernobyl without a doubt. I recommend all the games, but do play them in order.
Say, which Stalker would you guys recommend for a first? I liked being a slav in Metro 2033.
SOC everytime.
SoC is still my favourite out of all the games and you've gotta play them in order also e.g. can't play EP1 and 2 without playing HL2.
