Seems to me that your DL was corrupt (Moddb does this often).
Did you;
Patch it to the latest version?
Disabled the steam overlay? (IF you play it through steam)
Disabled SweetFX? (Interferes with steam)
If the answer to all these is "yes", you're better off redownloading it.

I got whatever the latest version on moddb is, didn't see any patches available though. I checked the md5 and it matches with the one on the site, that wouldn't happen if the download was corrupted, right?

It's worked on in the /vg/ STALKER thread, I think. If you check the repositories in their OP you should fine the Anon Edition version.

I was planning on downloading Arsenal Overhaul but the dev removed the DL for 2.3, as he said 2.4 is coming out very soon. Kinda pisses me off because he did it right before I could nab 2.3.

Since its first person and weapons only, does that mean it would be easy(er) to merge with other mods?
it also fucks with the weapons world models too tho, not just the view.
basically it should work with every mod that leaves the guns and ballistics alone.

I think so, yeah. But Yantar is a hard area to operate in because a lot of stuff spawns so there's constant fighting.

so i downloaded this mod and im up to the part where you need to get a merc suit from that one trader and every time i select the dialogue choice it crashes.
Post the crash log/google the problem.

Depends what you mean by good. If you want a mod that is fairly well made, I use MISERY myself. The mod in general has some nice sprites for things, the guns sound pretty good, and I havent found any game breaking bugs so far. However it is also pretty hard and some might say artificially difficult (a lot more mutants to fight at times and NPCs have godly accuracy) and it doesnt really add anything other than new items and new game mechanics/rebalances.

spawning chimeras, burers, controllers, and whatever the fuck else at the same time at iron forest is the very definition of artifical difficulty

Misery 2.X adds it's own version of M.S.O. into the game as well, which makes the A-Life significantly different from Vanilla.
