S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians
Just curious, would you know if anyone's tried to merge MSO with STCoP?
I've taken a few guns from it and put them in other mods before. STCoP does a weird thing with scopes though. Each gun has a different model depending on which scope it is using, as opposed the vanilla way of just sticking a scope on the base model. It provides support for multiple scope types on any given weapon, but it makes merging the mod a pain, especially with mods that support NPCs using weapon addons such as MSO.
Was this ever posted?

This is amazing, a trailer for a new Russian tv show called 'Chernobyl: Exclusion Zone' - think American Pie: Chernobyl but with Russian teens and more guys with AKs
What the hell

"RO2 death barks"
Is that the death screams from Red Orchestra 2?
My SHOC disk has finally called it quits after a crack in the center went too far. Didn't get a CD Key with it due to ebay so gonna re-purchase on steam.
Does the steam version still run version 1.0006?

Wasn't there supposed to be an actual STALKER tv show a while back?

Exactly. I have both RO2 death barks as Metro 2033 ones!

Yeah, it got canned though.

I watched it. It's horrible as the rest of russian tv shows.
The whole story feels like a mediocre Stalker fanfiction.
But still it's only my opinion.
I really hate how in CoP they removed finding loot in boxes/little containers you break open.
oh is that why i don't get any loot from them
So Beacon, when are you gonna reveal the rebranding of Redux?
It is christmas, after all.. :v:
So, I listened to you guys. I've been toying around with Vanilla+ for a bit.
Constructive critism very welcome.

To put it bluntly, they are not suitable as comparison images. A comparison of different graphical features should ideally be done from the exact same location, direction and in-game weather conditions. The density images in particular didn't make the actual difference as clear as it could've.
Haven't got complaints about the actual content, as it does indeed look rather nice, but the images are not fit for their purpose.

I tried doing this, but I kept forgetting to save. Just wandered about making screenshots. I'll get a better comparison up next time. Thanks, for both the compliment and the tip!
If you're doing a draw distance/common effects comparison you may also want to get into a slightly more elevated position.
Oh, since we're on the graphics debate again, has anyone experimented with volumetric fog? I'd love to see that kind of an effect creep along the ground and into the sky during the morning hours.

OGSE (Surprise!) has.

So when will the results of MOTY come?

I really wish the volumetric smoke effect that was implemented in Clear Sky was used in more than 2 places.
It was so nice.
I want to make a game based on this.
It's a creepypasta-style blog set in a Zone-like area called The Sick Land. There are research bunkers, expeditions, anomalies and weird artifacts, it's very Stalker-like and very cool.
Ive been reading this and its pretty neat. It's like the Zone mixed with Tiberium and a pinch of the Warp.
Welp, made it entirely through jupiter underground in AO without saving, lost all but vano and almost ran out of all my ammo.
Welp, made it entirely through jupiter underground in AO without saving, lost all but vano and almost ran out of all my ammo.
I only needed to reload once because I went ahead slightly to kill the zombies once we got into the sewer tunnels and came back to find the entire gang had been slaughtered by snorks
It was a sad sight
[editline]23rd December 2014[/editline]
The 9x39 hp ammo is extremely powerful though. I have a fully upgraded val and with the hp ammo I can 1-2 any human in any armour.

it's okay, as long as vano is alive the possibility of a STALKER/Tintin crossover remains open

The Editor's Choice results are up.

Why does everyone like MSO so much? I even seen a MSO + Misery merge with makes no sense, Misery already using it.
MSO was a beta of stuff that has been improved since. Is it the new spawns?
Joe Mullin says the new GSC game is Cossacks 3, in case anyone is interested.
I wouldn't ever trust this guy with a secret.
I really hate how in CoP they removed finding loot in boxes/little containers you break open.
Yeah, I hate it. The treasure manager itself is also poorly optimized. It is always iterating to check if you picked up one of these secret items, all the time, every single update. Bad bad bad!
Does one save UI textures as DXT5 with no mipmap? I'm replacing AO's default UI with Ceano's minimal one, and I need to modify a file to shrink the thirst status indicators to fit with the others.
Don't use mipmaps on UI textures, they can cause problems on minimum setting. It's only needed for LOD on meshes.
AO 2.4.1 is gonna have a merge with MSO too, hopefully it'll be stable unlike the Pripyat Reborn addon was.
Do you know what version of Pripyat Reborn AO is using? They should be using 1.01b or 1.14.8 if not. I noticed mirror sites are still linking 1.14.3 or something like that.
