S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

my dad arrived in ukraine yesterday. i told him to go to chernobyl and he said 'too far, and their roads are not the best to say the least.' it's a two hour drive from where he is. kind of sad considering he's actually beaten all of the stalker games.
Sorry to break it to ya, but ... He's not a true fan.
It's stable. I just want to get some feedback on the overall "feel" of the game. I'll upload it very, very soon.
Sure, I am also up for that. Installing the game back in just a sec. I'll try to break it anyway :P .
Also, I'll need testers soon. Any volunteers?
I'll volunteer
asking for beta testers here is almost as bad as saying 'stalkerbros'
What's up with that, though? The stalkerbros thing (I'm still a newbie on here ..)
It's an on-and-off long time thing where a resident artist draws all the posters in the thread as Stalkers together in one scene, and it brings all the lurkers and irregular posters out as they want to be in it.
Also do you not get your PMs sometimes or something? :P

They work, lol. I'll get to it immediately tomorrow. I've been too focussed on getting the base merge for V+ to work, so I forgot my other responsibilities.
Expect to see the changes made first thing tomorrow. And the thing about BETA testers is; Most posters here have loads of knowledge regarding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in general (played tons of mods / hundreds of hours in the game etc.). They know what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. feels like. The average moddb guy who follows Complete 2012 doesn't know what the true feeling of STALKER is.
Thus, I put my trust in my fellow Facepunch stalkers, so they can improve a mod that'll benefit both us (I hope to replace SC2012 with V+, so we get less "should i start with SC2012 1st playtru!??" questions), and the guys new to stalker, whom might find the games stale / boring / outdated and such.

Thanks mate! :)
And yeah, I agree with that. This is genuinely the best community of Stalkers I've personally seen, and it's probably one of the only consistently not-shit threads on the forum.
do any of you stalkers know of any good Clear Sky mods? I've already completed ShoC and CoP and now I want to finish Clear Sky as well.
[sp]no reborn pls[/sp]
Reloaded maybe

Just play it with SRP if you haven't finished CS already:

Also I might like to volunteer, though I probably won't have a lot of time to do it if it's after january 20th
It's one of the few english communities I've seen that doesn't defend/recommend complete to new players

Your avatar danced on my music ... damn!
And I agree. Looks superb!
Since the question i asked a few pages back is now buried, i want to talk about it again. The latest "multi-patch", that saved stalker multiplayer from now-dead gamespy servers, silently FORCED vsync in all 3 stalker titles (speaking about steam versions).
Now, lots of people in all these years have tried to get rid of the screen tearing in stalker titles and forced vsync themselves, so no one has noticed a thing when they applied forced vsync. For some people like me, this is a big issue now because i always hated vsync, the infamous input lag it causes etc., never have tried to force it from video control panel (all these 7 years played all titles without vsync).
I recently tried to play Clear Sky, god it was horrible. I searched everywhere for a solution (to disable forced vsync), but as i said above, since everyone in all these years have tried to apply vsync in stalkers, not the other way round, i found nothing.
In-game console commands do not work, forcing vsync off in control panel does not work, replacing binary with cracked exe does not work. Whatever they have done to it, it seems impossible to me to revert it.
The only thing that disables vsync i couldve found, is StalkerSOUP, since it uses its own binary files and exe, it avoided this fate. It seems, if you want to play any game, vanilla or mods, if they dont have their own versions of binary files, vsync is forced on you.
What i think now, it seems the only option left for me is to pirate the titles, apply the patches (not the latest multipatch) and play without the goddamn vsync.
If any of you guys know about this issue, about how to disable it, please share it. Thanks in advance...

Backup original files. Let me know how it went.
ModDB are torturing modders by releasing results literally at the end of the day :(
You may or may not win 1st place, but congrats for always being in the top mods list. I think that says a lot more for the quality of your work than being a flavor of the month sort of thing that occasionally gets 1st and then drops of the radar.

Thanks for the quick reply, but i need something to fix Clear Sky, not SoC :(
Also yes, i tested it and it does not have forced vsync. It seems SoC can be saved from eternal doom...

I can't help you with CS I'm afraid. Only thing that comes to mind is this. I don't know if it has the right DLL's though.

Beacs gave a good explanation.
I still have them on my Dropbox so here are the two that were made.
The first stalkerbros pic was made by Crisis:

The second and unfortunately the last was made by Raiskauskone:

I think Matrok (Viper202 here on Facepunch) made one as well but at that point too many people were asking to be in it so he stopped the project.
HEY DID SOMEBODY SAY STALKER BROS
[editline]28th December 2014[/editline]
CAUSE IM PRETTY SURE
[editline]28th December 2014[/editline]
THAT SOMEBODY SAID STALKERBROS
2 parts of Vanilla+ are uploaded. 3rd part will be uploaded tonight, then I'll send the mega links to all whom volunteered to participate!

Nope.
Hi I'm doing the Road to Limansk mod for CS. I introduced myself a few dozen pages back. I've mostly been posting on Moddb, but the community just pisses me off. They feel like they are a bunch of kids who got the games on sale on steam last week and not true fans. Granted, there are exceptions.
Anyone willing to help out? I'm looking for someone who can script Lua alot better then I can and someone who knows C++ and can work on the engine in VS Studio 2008. The few I did have have been pulled away by their own projects. Someone who can do both would be great since the engine work could potentially eliminate alot of the Lua stuff.
If anyone has an engine suggestions, chime in.
1.Pistol reload empty sounds are done
2. Actor shadow
3. Grass Shadow
4. Automatic pistols
5. Increased grass distance* Not done its the last on the list and it looks like it won't get finished without a C++ guy. Kind of makes the rest of the changes useless, I can't stand that damn short draw distance.
Anyone have suggestions for more? I really haven't had time to think about it since I've been doing mostly models and skins for the last year. I'm trying to keep the feel of the zone though. I've always though giving the big guns their own class that only an Exo could carry would be cool.
I originally planned on giving each rifle 3 different scopes Red Dot, medium/long, and night vision. That's changed. I'm re-skinning/ modeling and insane number of scopes right now. 1p29, Trilux, Susat, Kobra, Eotech, Pk-A, PK-As, 1p78, ACOG, nspu34, 1n93r, plus the usual standbys and more. I haven't started adding them in yet, better to finish up all of them then run the assembled models off like an assembly line.

I suggest you move away from SoC, though.
Hey guys what is the best method of changing the FOV in CoP? Or in fact any of the games? For years I have always played with the default FOV and now I'm interested in seeing if I can change things up a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
