You're aware I'm playing MGS and that the amounts of suspension you need is massive, but there's really no reason to put a magazine on a gunsword that doesnt fire anything. I'd rather accept "cosmetics".
*Ahem*....

I am fully aware of the thumbnail that has been magnified. Enjoy.

The last boss of Rising was basically just Platinum doing their thing instead of actually making Metal Gear.

It was rather fun though, at least give them that.
Besides, it was never a 'Solid' Metal Gear. The entire game was platinum doing their thing, if a bit more...sensible, in comparison.

I'd imagine the gun has to fire SOMETHING to rocket off the sword.
Probably it ignites gas and causes a small explosion.
I'd imagine thats what the magazine is for.

This also makes sense. At least to me.
The names of the winds are usually specific to the country of origin. I.E. Mistral is a cold wind in a France (Mistral is half French), Khamsin is a hot, dusty wind in north Africa/Arabian Peninsula (we can assume Khamsin will be Arabic of some kind?), Monsoon is a reverse wind that brings in long periods of rain (Monsoon is Cambodian), Sundowner is a wind condition in California (Sundowner is from Alabama but I assume they were just looking for a name of a wind) and then there's Jetstream Sam but he technically isn't part of the Winds of Destruction
Jetstream Sam was called Minuano, the cool brazilian wind by Monsoon, I'm assuming thats what his codename would have been if he became a member of the winds.
I like how there's discussion on the logic of a gun that shoots swords.

To be fair the concept of the gun sword in MGR is more logical than most gun swords.
Its simply a sheath with a modified carbine rifle put on to fire the sword out at high speeds for quick draws.

Could you imagine actually having to reload a sword.

Clear as day on his hips.

Also, you dont reload the sword, you reload the sheath.
Frigs sake, you got my interest piqued.
Probably the 'consumable' items in Rising, that gel stuff.

How is that effective at all.
How is that effective at all.
Its used to add speed to his strongest blow. He used it to cut Armstrong's arm off before it could be armored.
How is that effective at all.
Well, look at his sword. Its a katana, yes? If I remember right, the katana was designed to have fluidity in mind, ie, being able to have a slash at the enemy as it was drawn.
The sheath for Sam's murasama blade is more than likely customised in that particular regard.
How is that effective at all.
why does it need to be
this is a game where a roided out dick cheny covers himself in nanomachines and punts cyborg ninjas like footballs
How is that effective at all.
In a world filled with cyborg ninjas with super strength and reflexes, [sp] and only being a mere regular human in a muscle suit[/sp] how WOULDNT it be beneficial to have some sort of speed advantage?
He'll, he managed to do it to [sp]Armstrong[/sp] and Raiden.

Sam should stand for samurai had he been real cool he'd just quick-draw it the way any samurai does.
WAY TO DROP THE BALL PLATINUM
Looks like Hayter might have an interview or something going on at IGN.

I think you may have confused the word "effective" with "realistic" somehow.

David could totally play Snake in the movie.
He doesn't quite have the muscle for it. Just superimpose his head onto Van Damme's body from Bloodsport.
So apparently the legacy collection is PS3 only? well that crushes my dreams of being able to finally get my hands on those MGS4 models yet again :(.
