• Metal Gear Solid - Tactical Megathread Action VII. Could Plisken actually be Snake?

I really hope the official explanation for The Twin Snakes is that Otacon is retelling what happened on Shadow Moses with a bit of exaggeration.
"dear bioshock thread - here is me continually shitting all over a great game" "dear mgs thread - i take a massive shit all over revengeance im sure youll all enjoy" all im saying is, probably go tell someone who cares, like your beloved /v/ pals
/v/ has damn good discussion of Metal Gear games man just sayin'. Also found this. [IMG_Thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/PRBY0v.png[/IMG_Thumb]
Twin Snakes was shit.
Get over it. Its not the best MGS but its still pretty amazing relative to other games out there. If MGS1 never existed and it was Twin Snakes instead, it would be treated in the same way as MGS1 was.
Not really, the voice acting have a high difference between both.
Im not comparing them, I'm saying if MGS1 never existed and Twin Snakes stood on its own it would be regarded as an amazing game. It just gets put down because its just a remake of a better game.

The voice acting was necessary, before anyone says it, it relates to update sound chips and how the original PS1 voice clips were recorded in a non-soundproof studio. (the MGS4 segment and the PSN versions are emulated and have the same sound quality)
Oh man, hanging from ledges and and a useful first person view! Those idiots ruined metal gear solid! I don't really like that they got rid of the accents though. But jennifer hale isn't that great anyway.
Oh man, hanging from ledges and and a useful first person view! Those idiots ruined metal gear solid!
It broke some of the bossfights. Also, most people are talking about the cutscenes and voice acting.
It broke some of the bossfights. Also, most people are talking about the cutscenes and voice acting.
But do those changes make it a shitty game?
Just beat the dlc. Man that was harder than I thought it was going to be. Sam's fighting style is just so much different.
But do those changes make it a shitty game?
I'd imagine it made it much easier considering that the level design was never meant to incorporate first person view and ledge hanging.
oh nooo, they made it 2easy worst game ever
Ittla stop. Twin Snakes was alright, but not compared to MGS1, too many unnecessary changes and too over the top. And yes, cutscenes can make a game bad, but i like to think of it as Raidens Shadow Moses VR mission, in which he tried to show off as much as possible because, after all he wanted to be as cool as Solid Snake.
There's no reason to call it a bad game or say that it's shit. Also I like to think of it as raiden in vr also. Makes the game even better.

[editline]14th April 2013[/editline] thinking like kojima might be quite hazardous but it can be quite simplistic if you're not delving to deep. i mean snake does all these back flips and shit... think about it, in mgs2 snake would do a roll to crouch, while raiden does his gay little cartwheel. snake isn't a gymnast and raiden is, in twin snakes snake acted much more like a flamboyant gymnast than the simplistic soldier he is. in other words i agree with quoted poster and have my own points.
There's no reason to call it a bad game or say that it's shit. Also I like to think of it as raiden in vr also. Makes the game even better.
Exactly my point, no it wasn't as good as MGS1 but to call it a Shit game is unfair.
I've always thought the simulation Raiden went through would have been completely different to the real thing. I recall Solid Snake saying he bets it isn't like what actually happened, I imagine it was heavily censored and altered by The Patriots.
After searching through my boxes in the closet, I happened to just find MGS1. Defintely playing that for the next few hours.
Playing a lot of Peace Walker, I really like how upgrading weapons and such actually feels like... well, upgrades. Even rank-ups feel like significant enough changes. It makes replaying chapters much easier.
In my opinion, I love the silliness of twin snakes. The original mgs is obviously a better representation of metal gear solid, but twin snakes was so much fun. If you don't like the silly cut scenes of twin snakes, that's okay. But if you say that the silly cutscenes make it a bad game, you're an idiot.
The gameplay is fine. The direction is atrocious. You're an idiot if you think people can't think it lowers the overall quality of the product. [editline]14th April 2013[/editline]
Im not comparing them, I'm saying if MGS1 never existed and Twin Snakes stood on its own it would be regarded as an amazing game. If MGS1 never existed and TTS stood on its own, would it be well received? Yeah probably, the gameplay is still rock solid. Would it be treated the same as MGS1 though? Fuck no, its dumb to think that it would. And really its an insult to Kojima to say that, because you're effectively implying that having a good director is unnecessary and/or that his direction adds nothing to MGS1 and that only the gameplay matters.
I've been thinking it through, and I think this song is the best piece of music that has been written for a videogame. 2:40 onward is literally orgasm is musical format for me.
I don't see how The Twin Snakes' cutscenes ruin anything. Can't you just enjoy the gameplay and laugh at the silliness that occurs during the cutscenes? That's pretty much what I do with every Metal Gear game anyway. It's not like it "ruins" MGS1 or anything. They're both separate entities.
I prefer 3's.
I do really like that too, but I really don't like the way it sort of tails off to another song. The MGS2 one hypes you up all the way along to a massive epic ending.
i heard you can disarm enemies in mgs3... is that true? like just run up to them and grab their gun and flip them on the ground or some shit
i heard you can disarm enemies in mgs3... is that true? like just run up to them and grab their gun and flip them on the ground or some shit
Naw, you need to shoot their hand.
i heard you can disarm enemies in mgs3... is that true? like just run up to them and grab their gun and flip them on the ground or some shit
You definitely can't grab their guns, that's something you can do in MGS 4 though.
