19 years since Snake Eater.
Ah, fair enough.
I've only played the demos for the major Metal Gear Solids (1 to 4), but I'd really like to play through the games. The major ones, at least, except for 4 as I don't own a PS3. Would it be acceptable to play the MGS1 remake (Twin Snakes) instead of MGS1? Should I only play MGS1 on the PS1, or is it recommended I do both? What about MGS2 Sons of Liberty and Substance? What's the difference? Which one should I play, or both?

It'd be alright to play after you've played MGS1 to see what they did to it. Substance is a bit meatier than Sons of Liberty, just more content. Otherwise same game, really. Get the HD Collection. Out of curiosity, what's the order of the games chronologically?
Out of curiosity, what's the order of the games chronologically?
MGS3, Portable Ops(skippable), Peace Walker, MGS5, MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4.
-snip-
Hey A big fat ass do you even read this thread? All the major games are in the OP, with the years in the headers... Also there has been a huge conversation about not playing Twin Snakes since the last thread.
Out of curiosity, what's the order of the games chronologically?
Shit son it's on the previous page.
about the twin snakes discussion, didnt kjp say that it was supposed to be someone (meryl/otacon/mei ling) retelling the story of what happened, which is why its so over the top?

about the twin snakes discussion, didnt kjp say that it was supposed to be someone (meryl/otacon/mei ling) retelling the story of what happened, which is why its so over the top?
No, Ryuhei Kitamura, who directed the in-game cutscenes, was originally going to have the game be a lot closer to the original, but Kojima told Ryuhei to go ahead and put his own spin on them, and so he did. It's pretty crazy yeah, but so is Metal Gear as a whole, so I loved it.
Kojima has been tweeting about how the voice acting is done on this game. It's all done at the same time as the motion capture. Most of the "acting" is done in Japan by Japanese actors while the voice acting and facial motion capture is done in Hollywood. Some characters are unique as the motion capture, voice acting, and facial capture is all done by one actor. I'd bet Snake is one of these. Also Keither Sutherland. He says this is the reason voice actors have changed. That's bullshit.
twin snakes isn't that bad just keep in mind stupid shit happens in cutscenes. overall it's the same exact thing with a more HD package. also voices are somewhat different but still, overall it's the same.

[editline]17th April 2013[/editline] Hayter is an actor too, for gods sake.

Fun fact: The production team could only afford David Hayter from the original cast. So he sacrificed his own pay check to get all the other actors back. But I'm doubtful and it seems to be some bonkers as shit decision.
If he isnt, then its a GIGANTIC dick move considering Kaz is still being played by the same guy.
Rising is a pretty chill game. Liking the music as well.
Been playing through MGS 2, 3, 4 & PO over the past few days. Despite having played all of them several times (except PO just the once) I think it's only now that I think I truly know timeline of events and how everything is connected. Also just realised in 4 in Eastern Europe you can see the 'person' following you. Thought it was a graphical glitch cause my PS3 is like that, but nah it was a head peeping around. Don't know how I had ever missed it before [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] Also forgot to pick up the laughing octopus figure, which I've managed to do every play through
Yeah, I only saw the person following me this playthrough, which is odd because when I got to where it had been, it completely disappeared. Which would have been well and good if the place hadn't been in the little set in area under the bridge. AKA a dead end.
Rising is a pretty chill game. Liking the music as well.
i just can't beat the last fucking boss. i need health things but i have none. i just can't doooo it.
i just can't beat the last fucking boss. i need health things but i have none. i just can't doooo it.
There's a way to get him to drop some, but I forgot how.
There's a way to get him to drop some, but I forgot how.
He drops some whenever you successfully cut through all of what he throws at you.
i just can't beat the last fucking boss. i need health things but i have none. i just can't doooo it.
Gotta cut through those chunks of concrete he throws at you. Nanopaste everywhere. Then you can just wail away at him.
i just can't beat the last fucking boss. i need health things but i have none. i just can't doooo it.
Dodge to the side on all of his attacks, they're easy to avoid. Use blade mode on the green thing on his back when he heals to stop it. He hits hard, but he takes damage like a bitch. And if you're using healing items at any point in this game, you're doing it wrong.
Fucking hell, how do i beat the end non lethally? I also managed to hold him up but i didn';t ghet anytfhing.
Fucking hell, how do i beat the end non lethally? I also managed to hold him up but i didn';t ghet anytfhing.
You have to hold him up twice to get his camo.
You have to hold him up twice to get his camo.
Ah, thank you.
Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection Spotted for PS3 http://kotaku.com/there-might-be-a-new-metal-gear-solid-collection-475733842 Oh, god. YESH!
Dear god, if that has a HD remake of MGS1 (thats not TTS) I would have to get myself a PS3.
