that kid in the cage is way too small to be 17
We see Chico in the GZ stuff, which is set in 1975. BB doesn't get his robo arm til 1984.
he's 12 in peace walker, and he looks to be about 15/16 in the trailer.
What.
No he doesnt.
Dude have you SEEN a 15/16 year old?

Ground Zeroes is 1974.
Ground Zeroes is 1974.
Kojima said in an interview that Phantom Pain is set in 1984. Taking into account that BB was in a coma for 9 years that puts it at 1975. Now that I think about it, Kojima might mean that it's 1984 when he gets the robo arm and gets his muscle mass back. I imagine it'd take about a year to build back up after the hospital stuff.

Uh.
Uhhh.
No.
Ground Zeroes is IMMEDIATELY after Peace Walker.
Big Boss wakes up in 1983.
As you can see after he rescues Kaz, he already has his Cyber arm and MSF is partially rebuilt.
Alright, sorry, this whole thing is kinda confusing still.
Eli though is Liquid until proved otherwise, right?
Kid looks like him, youth denied his fate, shirt open, jackal necklace, the pet snake on his lap
If Eli is around that means Solid should be around soewhere

No, Snake only met Big Boss shortly before MG1 (1995)

We already saw this.
What about it?

"Furthermore, the game takes place in 1984, when Snake is 49 years old..."
Shit, just rewatched the trailer, yep, no shrapnel in BB's head when he's choking the kid.
Sorry for causing a ruckus, should've reviewed.
However I will defend Eli = Liquid until the game comes out to prove me otherwise
Why would you even think the kid in the cage is David? He looks identical to Chico.
Dude.
Dude.
Who actually calls Solid Snake David?
I mean, it's used like once in the whole series :v:

So you're saying its impossible for him to wake up in 1983 while the rest of the game is in 1984?
Right.
Keep doing that.

Is there a need to be hostile?
Is there a need to be hostile?
Just because he was in a coma for 9 years doesnt mean he does the stuff in the main portion of the game right afterwards.
I mean he needs to recover, you know.
Some of the scenes have to take place in 1974. Especially the several with Chico, and Paz's surgery. I'm expecting Paz and Chico to get captured at some point after Peace Walker, leading Big Boss to bring her back with the tracker/bomb inside of her abdomen.

I still think calling "SOLID SNAKE" David is one of those neckbeard things to do. Just say "Solid Snake". We all know that guy. That's what he's consitently reffered to as, and it's the easiest way to differentiate him from the others.
There evidently needs to be some time between his awakening and him rescuing Kaz as Aaron said. You don't build up your mass and fully recover immediately after waking from a coma like that, not even Big Boss is that good.
I'm wondering where they got another Oil Rig.

Big Boss in Ground Zeroes:

Big Boss immediately post-coma:

And in the gameplay video i think he's back up to his Ground Zeroes physique, that takes time.
I'm guessing that Eli will be acknowledged by Big Boss to be his son almost immediately, as they had a very abusive relationship.
I think right now there's a mess of speculation and hype so thick it's impossible to tell what is and isn't :P
Here's my theories though.
Code Talker? Philosopher.
Eli? Liquid Snake.
That guy in the beret? Campbell.

But Campbell was never missing an arm. Plus, his Japanese voice actor died and Kojima didn't want to replace him.

Thats Kaz.
He's missing an arm.
Oh, again, I thought that was an arm in a sling. God, I am a MESS of confusion! at least I'm not suggesting Quiet to be Sniper Wolf or EVA.
I'm very interested about Big Boss in this game though. In Peace Walker and Snake Eater, he's hardened to hell and back, but he has a weird little geeky persona to him where he nerds out over guns or loves his boxes. This one seems like Big Boss is all serious all the time, and the themes definitely seem more serious than they've ever been.
It'll be very interesting to see an all serious metal gear, with no bee tommy guns or cyborg ninjas. Half of that is the appeal of metal gear to some.
The theory that Eli is Liquid interested me (and I hold hope that it's true). I did some reading (on wiki) and I thought this passage from the Samaritans was quite interesting.
A terrible civil war broke out between Eli son of Yafni, of the line of Ithamar, and the sons of Phineas, because Eli son of Yafni resolved to usurp the High Priesthood from the descendents of Phineas. He used to offer sacrifices on an altar of stones. He was 50 years old, endowed with wealth and in charge of the treasury of the children of Israel...
He offered a sacrifice on the altar, but without salt, as if he were inattentive. When the Great High Priest Ozzi learned of this, and found the sacrifice was not accepted, he thoroughly disowned him; and it is (even) said that he rebuked him.
Thereupon he and the group that sympathized with him, rose in revolt and at once he and his followers and his beasts set off for Shiloh. Thus Israel split in factions. He sent to their leaders saying to them, Anyone who would like to see wonderful things, let him come to me. Then he assembled a large group around him in Shiloh, and built a Temple for himself there; he constructed a place like the Temple (on Mount Gerizim). He built an altar, omitting no detail - it all corresponded to the original, piece by piece.
At this time the Children of Israel split into three factions. A loyal faction on Mount Gerizim; a heretical faction that followed false Gods; and the faction that followed Eli son of Yafni on Shiloh.
Now to me, there are some very interesting parallels between the Biblical Eli and Liquid's actions throughout time, most notably the planned usurping of the High Priesthood (Plotting to overthrow the Patriots as Liquid Ocelot), building a Temple with an altar that was identical to the original (Outer Heaven, anyone?) and the splitting into 3 factions (Patriots, heretics [Solid Snake maybe?] and Eli himself [Liquid's army of PMCs]).
It's very likely that I'm looking into it too much, but the parallels are interesting.

sooo
does Snake have diamonds in his skull?
It almost seemed like he pulled a diamond out to hand to his cage kid
is that why he's part of Diamond dogs?
Did he name it after his head?
I'm guessing when they rip the bomb out of Paz it explodes killing Chico and it rips apart Big Boss and Kaz.
I'm guessing when they rip the bomb out of Paz it explodes killing Chico and it rips apart Big Boss and Kaz.
Very very plausible theory there.
Way better than Snake being a diamond skull motherfucker.
I'm nota fan of Snake's horn :v: it's kind of an odd choice
Can you guys imagine what that operation scene will be like? Chico will be crying his eyes out, Kaz will be freaking out while Paz is screaming as her organs are messed with. I don't think I can handle that!

Oh it'll be unpleasant as hell.
That's why I hope Kojima does go full serious.
This shit is getting fucking dark.
