If you have access to your routers settings change your SSID to "Bestbuy" (without the quotes) and have your 3DS connect to it (You'll need to set up a new connection). Wait for the Nintendo Zone to pop up with a notification and start Animal Crossing. Go to the postal office and BAM.

That'd be an easy choice for me. Animal crossing wins for two reasons. 1) I have Starfox 64 and let's be honest, the newer re-releases aren't exactly spectacular considering they're the same thing. and 2) I never liked Paper Mario...don't know why but I couldn't get into it.

So these coins on the club Nintendo website, it says that the Nintendo Year or whatever ends on July 1st. Does that mean the coins expire? What happens when the Nintendo Year ends?

You keep all of your coins, but your gold or platinum status (if you have it) gets reset.

I got the error too. And we did, but it didn't save. So I sold my shark but the money and the shark got returned. Keep your gates open and we will be back shortly

That's when the time to reach Gold or Platinum for that year ends. All coins after that date go towards the next Nintendo Year.
Although, coins do expire in two Nintendo Years, so you have plenty of time to use them.
And what are the benefits of Gold or Platinum status?

Once per day in WW and CF... I am going to assume the same is for NL for now but I don't know for certain. You also get the option to change eye colour in NL so I am not sure which will come first, more hair stytles or if you have to unlock the eye colour first too.

Obtaining Gold and Platinum Status can net you a gift from Nintendo at the end of a Nintendo Year. Platinum members get better stuff than Gold Members as you might've guessed.
