Also, got the QR code reader finally. What they don't tell you is that any other player in your town has to get friendly with Sable to use it as well, so now I need to find a way to share my patterns with my spare players so I can get real fancy with the ground tiles.

I think you need to have been playing for 14 days, or something specific.
You have to talk to Blathers for 15 days total iirc

what time do sharks spawn on the island? I went to the island and even at seven they hardly ever spawn now. Just lods of beetles. Today i've been there since ten and not a single shark. Bunch of beetles though.

They're available all day, they just appear more frequently at night.

Nope, every character can have their own set of patterns, so normally I make one guy for each kind of pattern that I want to have in my town.
