You can grow normal native fruit, perfect native fruit, and normal foreign fruit, but you cannot grow perfect foreign fruit.
If you mean its the same kind thats native to your town, but you got it from someone else, yes you can grow it I think

You could make an alt in the same town and give it lods of emone to pay for all the house upgrades. The only real downside is that you have to save and quit just to do town projects.
