Yesterday I convinced Fuschia to move into my town from a friends town. This gives me 10 villagers so now I can safely bring my 3DS out in public.
Also day six, still no campers. What's wrong? Is it because of the lack of grass and the fact I can't fix it? Maybe because I have the living embodiment of a typical order at McDonalds in my town? I just don't understand.

I'm pretty sure you're not 'meant' to have them particularly regularly. I had one 2 days ago and before that it was about a week.
I sent them away because I didn't like them >:)

I keep having to do mass clear-outs to prevent hoarding.
The main things I'm holding onto are fossils, non-orderable furniture, pitfalls, axes, gyroids and a few fruits.
In Animal Crossing, each drawer and dresser and other container had their own storage. (they only had three slots available) So you would go into the basement and just shove clothes and whatnot into those drawers that you have available.
Good times.
I only hang onto all my furniture because people on reddit love to catalog it.
I earned almost 2 mill in a few hours just from letting people catalog it all :v:

Yeah you pay a small fee and he changes the colours for you. I prefer the green, I think.
Just out of interest, if you have a full set of items, but in mismatched colours, do you still get all the HHA points?
So I want that pillow item so I can make a Dreamcast, and every house I encounter via Streetpass that has one has it retextured into something so I can't order it... I can't say I'm surprised so many people modify it, but man. It's a shame that's a thing.
The fact you can't order the stock version of a customized item seems less a feature and more a bug to me. My theory is that the custom item is a different ID than the standard one, and the ID of said custom item isn't on the catalog's whitelist table. Put simply, you're not changing an item's data, you're just trading the 'standard' variant of that item for another one (in the case of custom pattern retextures, you're getting one with the item's texturemap pointing to that pattern in memory, which is why they cannot be dropped or exchanged, since another player will have a different pattern in that address)
