I keep getting 018-0512, but the nintendo support site says the same thing for both.
I need to find out which ports to open I believe.

Do all of Isabelle's advice convos and you'll get an indirect option to buy a fishing pole from the town hall instead.
The only fruits I need now are pears, oranges and coconuts.

Alright so I finally have animal crossing ordered and it is coming between june 14 and june 19 so hopefully I get it on the 14. Can't wait to get some genuine butt trees.

Hm, I think you missed one of her options. She's supposed to sell you a net or rod, and then later give you a watering can as a gift.

Fishing is the way to go. I started a new game of CF recently and got over 30k in my first night just by fishing + money rock, and then stacking up fish in my house ready for the nest day after the shop closed.

Before that, she asks which activity you find more fun, catching bugs or fish.
You need to answer whichever activity you don't have the tool for, then she'll give you one.
