QR codes are locked, Island is locked, club 101 is locked, mayoring is locked...
Because of my stubborn attitude to time traveling in Animal Crossing, I have decided to grind for bells while I wait for tomorrow.
Just fish or go plant fruits or lay tiles. I'm doing fine without time paradoxes ya babys.
There does seem to be a lot more features which are locked in NL compared to other versions. But I personally wouldn't want to rush it and time travel. Each to their own though. I don't think someone else time travelling should effect the fun you're having in your game, even if they did come to your town.

qr codes are locked until you talk to sabel once a day for about a week
island is locked until you pay first debt/wait a day/wait ANOTHER DAY
lots of building options are locked until you wait enough for a villager to randomly suggest it

I don't really get why people would time travel, atleast this early.
I mean, the whole POINT of the game is to build up your town over time.
Once everything's more or less built, then yeah, I could see traveling around to farm bells and fortune cookies and collect all the neat swag and whatnot, but jumping ahead on Day 1 to unlock everything?
I dunno, it just sounds like it'd kill the game super fast.
Besides, it's gonna feel AMAZING once my town really starts coming along like a week from now. Rewarding as shit.
