It causes weeds to pop up, villagers to leave if you jump ahead too far, etc. Stuff that would normally happen with the passage of time.
I still don't like doing it, though.
In the earlier Animal Crossing games time traveling would cause other bad things to happen, like constant low turnip prices, certain rare visitors not appearing, etc. Is this still true with New Leaf? I kinda want to jump ahead a few hours since it's like 6am here and I can't get back to sleep, but in game my pockets are full of fish so I can't really do much until Re-Tail opens.
Well, just found out you can now store fish in lockers and stuff. Guess I'll go catch more stuff then!
My Mom is awesome, she said that if she gets some extra money this week, she'll give me 60 bucks to get New Leaf on the eShop (I'll pay her back of course), but if it doesn't happen, she is still being awesome by lending me 20 bucks next week since I get 40 a fortnight.
Why the eshop? no stores near you?

The closet store is an hour away in another town, and it costs 68 bucks. If I was to get it posted it would be 78 bucks. Plus I wouldn't be able to wait any longer.

I don't believe so, unless you're willing to edit your Mii every time you guys switch.
