You might want to hold off on preordering Dying Light.

So far it looks like there aren't many moves you can use during parkouring to get around. Just normal jumps and a slide. Are there wall jumps/runs?

Supposedly you can get more parkour moves later down the skill tree, not sure about wall runs/jumps though.
Anyone got this from a key website? If so which one? They are all pre-order for me :( I aint paying £40!!!

I got one from Kinguin (Russian gift) for about £20.
What's the verdict on this game?
What's the verdict on this game?
I'm loving it. Guy I'm playing coop with is loving it. Few others on my friends list are enjoying it.
It's worth it if you get it off a key site or something just don't pay the steam price.
Just played for a good 4 hours in coop with 3 random people and it was fun as hell. Getting invaded is really intense, but after being invaded 3 times in a row back to back we ended up being the ones hunting the hunter. Felt like we were the Ghostbusters, except instead of vacuums we had UV lights and 4 artifact swords.
If you want the game badly enough I don't see why it's a dumb excuse, especially if there's already loads of content that shows what the game is like. Also, it's not like the people who care enough to pre-order a game know nothing about what they're purchasing.
If you want the game badly enough you can still wait at LEAST a day for reviews to actually get out'
it's not like you're never going to get the chance to buy it again. You can wait at LEAST a day. I sometimes wait a month for reviews to get out / updates to stabilize and patch the content.
it's a dumb excuse because even with a lot of gameplay videos, watch dogs, assassins creed unity, and alien: CM tier level, of bad can still happen.
You don't know that the content they are showing is the content that will make it come release, until you see a review of someone taking a breath, sitting down after having played it, and talking about it. Watch Dogs looked amazing, and then it was released, now look at it.

Believe it or not some people like to decide for themselves if a game is good nor not. There's already tons of gameplay footage out there so it's easy to know what you're buying.
Your edited in point of watch dogs is rather useless, as the game isn't bad by any means, it was just a technical nightmare. the game is still great fun.
Also the content we were being shown is people with press copies playing it, and I bought the game today and it's exactly what TBFP was playing a week ago.
The parkour is a bit wonky at times but I'm diggin it, its really a game you want to play with your friends.
Its basically a Dead Islands that doesn't suck

I hope late game parkour is anything like being a zombie (of course not as fast, but it's so fluid) because that's fun as hell.
I've got maxed parkour and it's pretty much sanic
Much superior to Dead Island, I'm actually enjoying this. Nights are spooky, can't even imagine how it would be like to get invaded. Also can't see shit captain.
Just a shame about the chromatic aberration, the dull colors and bad performance. Not super bad, but the game doesn't really look good enough to only get like 40fps on average out of a 970. Hope it's possible to turn off specific graphical features in a settings file somewhere.
Dat dropkick though
PC version might run poorly if you run your textures at High rather than Medium, if you are on PC having performance issues you might want to try changing the textures to medium. When I first stepped out into the city my performance tanked from 60+fps to 40-50fps. Also I have an i5-2500k + 780ti. Just a suggestions to anyone having the same problems, though I haven't tested this yet since I'm at work.

It's like Dead Island had a baby with Far Cry 3 and Mirrors Edge

That's a good thing btw
Ok, I'm getting this game asap. I've heard enough good things to warrant the purchase. See, it's not that hard to just wait until the game actually comes out to see if players think it's good or not.

gameplay footage still doesn't amount to a huge mass of people reviewing it at once after playing in full.
I've played games before that seemed amazing when you start, and when you start, ARE amazing, but turn out to be utterly shit later in the game.
of course I still have faith it won't be bad. I LIKED Dead island, very genuinely, despite the list of flaws.

parkour and zombies sounds badass, and usually I hate zombie games, so this is like, silly rare for me
parkouring around killing zombies in coop is fun as fuck, and becomes only more fun with each ability you unlock. the combat is way more satisfying than dead islands

dead islands melee combat was crazy good for such a poorly optimized game
This game has the best stun effect. That slow mo and cracking bones.
man i hope they fix the performance and memory leak stuff soon. for some reason the stuttering gets progressively worse in co-op mode until it's either unplayable or crashes.
Ok so I ended up buying an RU key on Kinguin, I thought it would just be I needed to activate it with a VPN. However on this product, there was a second requirement, having to be in the country (or VPN) to PLAY.
If either using a VPN doesn't bother you or you live in an RU region, then I am selling this game (in my Steam inv not a key) for £17.
this game is p good
first game in maybe a year that i actually want to keep playing
For people with bad performance, turning off Nvidia' DOF both looked better and tripled my framerate on my 580's. Though some people mentioned it didn't affect them.
I pre ordered this a while back while drunk and forgot I had it. It was a great surprise because the game is bloody fun to play, although the FPS issues do need to be sorted out.

made no difference on an amd card. so im guessing it wasn't working at all anyway?
Apart from the performance issues some people are having(also sometimes just goes down to 8-10 Frames for me but it's rare) this game is amazing. The Night Gameplay is fucking intense I ran into a dead end and was desperately trying to climb a fence just to get rushed down by the [sp]Volatiles[/sp]. :v:
A surprise hit!

Why wouldn't you just use a vpn?

Just making sure, but make sure you turn view distance all the way down. It's the biggest FPS sink right now for whatever reason and there's like next to no difference.
[editline]28th January 2015[/editline]
Also people have reported putting textures to medium sorts out the probable memory leak if you're experiencing it, but can't confirm that.
I'm getting massive stutters when I'm outside in cutscenes, like up to ten seconds at a time
Turning down draw distance a bit and turning down textures to medium cured it
Just found this on twitter.

I have mixed feelings.

Steam has always had that. Being in the proper region to activate it isn't enough, you need to be in that region to play it. My Payday 2 stopped working when I moved out of the country where I activated a region locked key.
