You know I got to admit, this hype train event was exciting in a more long-term way. The carshop heist has lots of civvie talk, driving was introduced and is going to be expanded into things like escapes, Hoxton's Revenge while we can debate on it's heist quality had a lot of cool story slapped into it.
Payday 2 has this remaining year and next year left for its development life, I really feel that while a few missteps are had, OVK are amping up the game in a very serious way.

You guys remember when Hector's missions were Vlad's in development? I have a feeling we'll either see those missions changed to him, or that this basically shows that Vlad will fill in for some high level heists.
Infact, I wonder if Hector was called Alex during development...

It's funny how he went from this honestly pretty slapdash and bumbling feeling low-level guy who had you robbing ordinary stores and nightclubs to massive badass who does multi-million dollar coke deals and has successfully tricked the fucking FB-bastard-I into thinking he's completely harmless. vlad is a consistent character at least, they seem to acknowledge the money he makes from us doing the heists and use that as an excuse to give him better ones, white xmas is a fave of mine

I got to admit, I always liked Payday's little background flavor story but this heist and everything tying together really makes it clear to me that Overkill has really wanted to do a story in Payday for a long time, and all these little game-play details, mask or gun or even website descriptions, were all ways of telling small parts of that world or story.
I mean if you look at the Car Heist's dealership, its implied the new engines used are the Big Oil ones.
The heist was kind of underwhelming in terms of gameplay.
But in terms of the game's lore and story - [b][u]HOLY FUCKING SHIT.[/u][/b]

I love that all his jobs are loud and incredibly overt (White Xmas involved a goddamn jumbo jet crashing in a forest and the Payday gang fighting off hundreds of cops for god's sake), yet they haven't managed to link him to anything at all.
Meanwhile, The Elephant has you sneaking through all this stuff and not leaving a single speck of evidence you've been there, yet they're still pretty sure he rigged an election.
Vlad has always been my favorite contract giver.

Question: In Big Bank you can arrange to have a bus crash through the wall of the parking garage near the vault as your escape. So, uh, why do we have to go through all the crane shit and computer hacking to gain access to that area? Couldn't we have just, like, ridden the bus in?

As silly as he acts, he's good at what he does. [sp]Hopefully with Hector out of the picture we'll get to see more of him soon.[/sp]
Also, having played through the heist now I'd say my biggest complaint is the payout, I bought an overkill contract for it and I actually lost money on it going loud.
