So over past few days I've been playing PD2 literally for whole days.
Last night I had a dream, it was zombie outbreak and well.... murky water guards were sent across city to kill any living thing including humans.
I was sitting with friends and heard gunshots, I looked over a huge concrete wall and saw murky water guards walking on streets and shooting anything that moves, then I told my friends "it's murky water, it seems they are here to eliminate everyone"
Then we found an old abandoned construction site and got up to last floor, then I was unfortunately woken up by alarm.
Wasn't so much afraid of zombies (which I didn't encounter) than the guards knowing how tough son of the bitches they are in game.

I've been trying to understand why people who like LMGs like LMGs. Do they just play on Hard? Do they just like the feeling of being powerful while in reality being the weakest member of the group? Do they not know how the meta works? Have they hacked to boost the stats to where they're somehow acceptable for what the weapons are supposed to do?
With any other weapon it's single shots or short bursts. Each one scores a kill. With an LMG you're lucky to hit 30 people with 500 rounds.

I did Deathwish pre-everything. I did Doctor Miserable pre-everything. LMGs have always been a waste of time. Yet some people swear by them. And I keep trying to figure out why.

If you can't hit and kill an opponent using the RPK with a quick 3-5 round burst, you're bad at the game.
I don't play Deathwish and "meta" means jack all to me, all that matters is that I have fun and am reasonably effective. With LMGs I'm typically raking in a lot of kills on OVK.

I can kill greens in 1 shot, tans in 2 shots, and bulldozers within the span of a magazine using an AR. And I can reacquire targets quicker. Meaning I kill quicker. And I can strafe fire more accurately and hit an entire group in the face with a single burst. I can move around, line up my targets, and with a single shot of a scattergun pop the helmets from 4 tans.

Alright guys, pack it in, the CAR-4 is still the best weapon in the game, sell all your other guns, only use the CAR-4 (And maybe a few other assault rifles). Can't be going and using something that isn't the very best objectively, can we?

They're no good for sniping across the map but in close-quarters scenarios LMGs are almost godlike.

LMGs on tight indoor maps are god-like. Combine with the Muscle deck's panic, enough threat rating, and you can basically clear out whole rooms and undo spam. Their only issues are shields (if you save grenades or have that one skill to knock'em around, not even an issue) and reloading. The MG42 Buzzsaw has enough ammo to easily survive, and the rest can with an ammo bag.
All you need to do is bring an accurate secondary to deal with snipers.
