-All the other cops are shooting me while I'm trying to kill them
The explosives show a problem because with the GL40, I'm stuck to only one actual weapon for shooting other things, and I only have 3 grenades.

I, on the other hand, have found much luck with my Crook-dodge/GL40 build. I've found myself action-movie-jumpkicking off of cars towards shields, blowing everything up in mid-air, landing on all the ammo and high-tailing it back out before anyone can even get a shot off.
The only things that defeat me are cloakers, because they've apparently solved quantum superstates and are in my sights and not in my sights simultaneously.

Webseries is a good intro to payday.
I really wish Dragan's voice commands weren't broken, I'd buy him in a second. Cool suit, great mask, neat voice, and hilarious lines... but the fact that it doesn't work (and they've gone at least one update without fixing it) is a bad precedent that I don't want to support.
Hoxton is still really cool though so I'm fine sticking with him.
Overkill should throw a bone to people without the DLC by making the iron man aced skill only one animation again.
It was really, really retarded when they decided to add randomization to the animation that plays when you knock back a shield, because the animation they added is the same one that plays when you stagger a shield with a grenade. That animation is awful, because they twist and turn, and can physically push you away with the animation, and the window for a headshot is a little less than convenient. The original knockback animation is perfect because it's a quick and clean window to the head, and you don't get pushed back from the animation either. I pretty much dumped iron man aced when they made that silly change many patches ago and just opted to try and handle shields manually until sniper rifles came along. Unfortunately, nothing ever became of my criticism at the time, and I doubt it will now.
A few tips for anti-shield without DLC:
Shields are nearly impossible to circle around when they're moving and locked onto you, as their turning speed is very fast when moving. If you're the only one in the area, and the shield is moving, they will have a firm lock on you until they come to a complete stop, then it becomes much easier to circle around them, because their turn speed slows down when they're not moving.
A harder strategy is to 'scalp' shields when they're moving. When a shield is facing you, and moving towards you, they jerk their heads up and down just above their shield. If you time your shot perfectly with either a very accurate weapon, or a shotgun, you can actually graze the top of their exposed heads during the animation for a skilled kill. It takes a bit of practice to get the timing right, but once you get it, it'll feel so good being able to kill a shield looking directly at you without a piercing, or explosive weapon.
The most risky strategy that I've never gotten quite the hang of relies on a shield's melee attack. When a shield strikes you with a melee attack, there is a [I]very small[/I] window for you to blast him with a lethal shot, since his melee attack directly exposes him. It's risky because you have to get in close, and the timing to avoid damage is incredibly small, and as well all know, Overkill has this really dumb thing with making police melee attacks overpowered, so getting hit by that melee attack will screw you over if you get the timing wrong.

The whole thing still feels scummy to me, they're asking you to pay 2/3 of the game's base price for five masks to "support Overkill" when they're quite clearly turning plenty of profit by selling actual content and they have been since before the game even released.

Huh, Russian Steam prices sure are different. Glowing masks cost 20€ in Finland, that's 3 Big Mac meals (6,7€).
