The Diamond is just really tiny. I love the whole theme of some of the exhibits with the alien sarcophagus, but it feels like the sort of heist that would be a secret prelude or something.
The Bomb Heists feel like snippets of a bigger idea. Forest has some questionable design choices like spawning snipers behind a solid cover of trees so they aren't easily targeted.
On an unrelated note, I'd love to see a loud heist that uses the Shadow Raid warehouse.
Plus it was marketed like "oooh mysterious gem", some weird stuff in the video hinting at something bigger and more awesome, maybe some plot twist. In the end - hack, hack, drill, drill, hack, puzzle, "yay we got the gem"

though I never finished it in stealth
can't say the diamond is my most favorite heist gameplay wise, but it sure gets the first place for the most beautiful heist
that lighting, those decors, that attention to detail, oh christ it's lovely
the marketing is what made the heist look bad
it's been overhyped and everyone expected rivarly with other gangs, lots of traps and loot
that and the fact that it costs 7 bucks and you dont get a gun with it
Speaking of DLC's I just played the fucking mission for the Hotline Miami DLC and I love what they tried to do with the second day of the mission. It plays just as if you were playing Hotline miami. You have to move fast and there's little window for fuck ups.
Was worth every cent.
Artistically, The Diamond is a very impressive level. The effort they put into recreating the museum is above and beyond. For example, go into the main entrance and look up, they went to great lengths to meticulously recreate the ceiling. The quality they put into all of the (real) exhibits, such as the Antikythera mechanism and the statue of Romulus and Remus are equally impressive.
It's also quite fun. The stealth is decent for the payoff with some cool new twists and the bottlenecks during loud allows for tons of fun and experimentation.
Problem is, people don't care about artistry, they care about new toys. And The Diamond gave nowhere near as many new toys as Hotline Miami did before it. Overkill made a mistake in thinking people would care about how well designed the level was, and prioritizing that over yet another boring reskinned assault rifle, which is what the people really want. Which is probably why it wasn't worth $7.
That's the amazing thing. I personally feel The Diamond is the most lackluster of all the heist DLCs, but I do indeed see that it is a lovely reproduction of a real-life museum. It is arguably the nicest environment to look at in the whole game, because they really did go out of their way for fairly accurate reproduction. But, that really shouldn't be the main selling point of the heist. When it comes down to it, people will want something a little more than just the heist if you're paying 7 dollars for it. Hotline Miami, and Armored Transports really do set a standard because they were more than just hosting rights and a few masks. I'm willing to bet that if The Diamond included Clover, people would have considered it a DLC worth the value.
It is a gorgeous heist to look at, no doubt, but my sentiment is that in gameplay, it falls within average territory. It pays a bit on the short side for money (especially the artifacts), and the stealth is anything but impressive really. Any time stealth in this game puts you in close quarters and narrow halls, it basically falls flat when the only thing really keeping you from rounding a corner in somebody's face is luck, so it didn't exactly live up to the amazing stealth of a free heist like Shadow Raid.
I hope Overkill understand why there are criticisms for the Diamond, and possibly act to avoid making the same mistakes.

The Diamond's guards are actually quite predictable after a few runs-- it's still not my favorite stealth heist in the game, but it's grown on me quite a lot since I started soloing it. Feels much less RNG-heavy than Framing Frame, and the timelocks provide a good excuse to wander around the pretty diorama grabbing stuff to toss out to the bag man. The low value of artifacts does kind of suck though.
I agree with you about loud though . . . everything's centered around that one big chokepoint. It'd be nice if the chopper would occasionally come to pick you up out front or something, to give the map at least a little variability.

What I love about Hotline Miami (the heist) is that it feels partially designed like a level in Hotline Miami. It's very flat, and has strictly separated floors (The upper and lower floors of the motel and all the different floors of the apartment).
So I think I'm going to buy this game cause of the hotline 2 character (Sue me, I'm the worst kind of new player)
What DLC would you guys say is essential to enjoying the game online?
[sp]also do you think a few of you guys would bea ble to show someone who never played the first how 2 game[/sp]
I don't know if I'm a good teacher but I'm pretty patient. I could show you the ropes and help level you up, add me on Steam if you need someone to play with. I'm usually online late night Britbong times.
What are the easiest and most profitable missions to run solo? Most of my free time is in the early morning, when it's difficult to find a good group to latch onto.

Just set it from near to world wide and boom servers, for me close won't pick any other than servers from Finland and Sweden and rarely from Russia which is pretty odd considering it is right next there too, and if I set it to far farthest it can find is servers from Germany and that is almost around corner too.

I think Shadow Raid would be up there. It's not nearly as fast as some of the others, but once you get the hang of it, you can blow through it with absolute consistency on any difficulty with very few skills required. You'll make a respectable chunk of experience, and a few million spending cash on Overkill and above if you secure a lot of the extra stuff.

What hours are you playing at? I can always find games whether I play in the morning, or at night as long as I check worldwide.

There are some games, just not on maps I'm familiar with. I haven't played this for a long time, so the only maps I really know how to do are Mallcrasher, Jewelry Store, and the Diamond Store. I tried Shadow Run with a group yesterday about twenty times, but we kept fuckin' up. Heh.

Shadow Raid is pretty great for lots of money, albeit with a steep learning curve, Bank Heist: Gold is alright and if you can get one more person with saws you can stealth it in 10 minutes and get well over 1 mil, Jewelry Store can be excellent for card farming as it can be completed on normal in 30 secs with miniscule profit other than cards, Mallcrashers is a fun, loud, short heist that pays something like 300k. Four Stores can be decent from what I remember.

Well play them anyways! You'll never learn new heists until you do them! If you're unsure whether or not you'll do well then just find a host that's playing on a lower difficulty.

possibly coincidental or just me over-examining things, but I've always seen the trip mines on the doors as a stab ad the "knockout enemies with the door" mechanic Hotline Miami has, because a majority of the time the enemies are grouped close to the doors and blowing them up allows you to walk in an kill them while they are getting back up from the blast.
The RPG is surprisingly viable as a secondary. I'm having a lot of fun with it on higher difficulties.
Anyone else think that the payout on the transport missions needs to be increased?
Stealthing heists is usually a quick way to level up, even if going solo. If Shadow Raid is too intense there's some easier heists to stealth.
Bank Heist is an easy heist to stealth once you learn the basics. There's plenty of guides on Steam that show the mechanics of the level, and once you know how to take out the four guards and the tellers the map becomes a quick way to level.
Four Stores Overkill is the easiest heist to stealth. Go to the 24-7 convenience store, make sure there's an ATM there, mask up, place the ECM jammer on the ATM (by holding F, don't place the ECM with G, rookie mistake) and then jump in the corner between the open ATM and the walls of the building and wait for the escape.
Diamond Store is a little tricky because you need to get the key card from the store manager into a randomly placed keypad to enable the glass to be broken. You'll most likely need at least 2 body bags and Control Freak if you don't plan on murdering an entire store/city block. After a while it becomes very formulaic and simple to pull off. Open the camera room, kill the guard, open the back door up the stairs, pick off guards one at a time and bag them, get the bank manager down when she comes up and take her keycard, then if one guard won't come up the stairs run down, kill him (don't break any glass) and fire some loud bullets to get all the civvies down (HoxHud greatly helps with Control Freak: all pacified civilians, the ones that are too scared to call the cops and are lying on the ground untied, will have green exclamation marks, while civilians who can call the cops will have red exclamation marks, so fire until all the marks are green), then put the keycard in and start looting. You usually won't have to kill/tie people in the food court behind the store unless you get spotted or don't have Control Freak, and eventually civilians will stop walking by the store so you won't have to kill/tie them. Just be sure to fire a bullet around every minute, 5 seconds is the best in case someone walks onto the map but civvies will usually stay pacified from Control Freak for a minute and ammo is a concern.
Nightclub is another heist that really benefits from Control Freak if you don't plan on murdering everyone. Check the wall of the entrance to the club for a Gensec logo: If there is one, then you have cameras in the club near the kitchen and back area, and it's easier to just restart at that point, especially if it's on Deathwish. Then, place an ECM on the ground, murder every gang member (they have no pagers, also if they're in the manager's office upstairs with the glass window you may need to break the glass and toss a grenade in there) and tie some civvies up, then keep firing your gun every minute or so. Be careful, as occasionally civilians or guard members will spawn in the front or back after a while, so you may need to run and kill them or tie them as they either won't be affected by Control Freak or will easily get spotted by another spawning person and you might not be able to kill or tie that one. If You have another ECM you can open a door with it if you have the right skills, as well as lockpick the safes if you have that skill. A gang member will also drop a single keycard but depending on where it is it might be hard to see. Otherwise, drill the doors/safes. If you buy the loot bag truck it's much easier to move the loot, as soon after a bag is picked up a truck will spawn outside the manager's office and you can toss the loot out either window and it'll count as secured.
You can also play loud heists solo with bots, but you need to mod it a bit to make it tolerable. Playing Hoxton Breakout with 3 bots that dodge better and can kill things makes it a lot less painful than two that serve only as meat shields. But heists that involve moving bags will take an hour or more depending on the level and the amount of loot you want to grab.
Some guy I just played Hoxout with kept getting downed by Cloakers. The 14 times in total between Day 1 and 2 he went down was thanks to Cloakers. Negligible because two of us had Inspire aced but it was so comical I couldn't stop laughing.
I'm patiently waiting for someone to make a mod replacing the music in the game with music from Hotline Miami 2.
Fool and his money soon parted. Sat on it and decided to buy the 20$ GOTY Edition.
Am I massive idiot? Maybe, but I've spent more on games I've hated way more so I think this'll be cool.
One of you heisters is going to have to teach me how to rob a bank thoguh.
I'm gonna drop my guns and look stupid
Did anyone else get the Hotline Miami 2 stuff without owning Hotline Miami 2?
I thought it was because I had the first game or something but my friend doesn't have the items.

Are there any bot mods you can recommend? I remember there was one that gave you 3, but not any that make them able to dodge effectively or anything. That could be useful for running through some heists to figure them out first.
I wish they added third person animations for the rocket and mini gun. The heisters hold it like a rifle :<
Kinda newbie question, but I had no idea that modding in PD2 was so huge now. Do HUD mods count as non-cheaty and what's the goto HUD mod to get?
