How many druid levels should I get if I want to multiclass with monk? I want it mostly because of wild shape

none
go monk and punch the wizard until he makes you a magic item that casts polymorph
PF or D&D?
I feel like when the original writers were coming up with Shadowrun, for areas that weren't their main point of interested (Seattle), they just kind of defaulted to whatever stereotypes they knew of a region without really doing any research.
The American South? They're Confederates again!
Russia? New Soviet State!
Japan? Imperial Japan rises again!
It's a damn miracle that Germany isn't just the Fourth Reich, but they seemed to have bumped back the reference to pre-unification Germanic mini-states - at least until Saeder-Krupt took everything over.
Well keep in mind that Shadowrun originally began in the 80s, and the Soviets were still around then. When the USSR fell they basically retconned it as "Russia isn't communist anymore, only a military oligarchy". And it was also projected that Japan was gonna control the worlds markets while China would collapsed. Today, it's the opposite.
What I'd want from books that focus on the big picture would be a general overview of the histories of certain regions. Not too detailed (no ones really gonna care about a country's history before magic came back to the world), but enough to give us a good idea of what's been going on.
More importantly, the rest of the stuff on a country should be points of interest that would be relevant to shadowrunners. They actually nailed that pretty well with the old "Shadows of" books, that balance of history and "here's the good, street-level info for runners". Detailing the mayor of Paris isn't really interesting. Detailing the mayor of Paris's discreet efforts to undermine certain corporate interests in the city via contacts in the Russian mafia suddenly gets runners' interest.

D&D 5e
D&D 5e
I saw a bunch of PF stuff at a big-chain bookstore and they were like 90 dollars a book, then I saw D&D 5E starter pack that comes with dice and sample figurines and two books... it was 20 dollars

Really? Pathfinder core rulebook is like 10 dollars if you want the PDF.

Plus everything for pathfinder is available online for free anyway.

HELP
That's not the hardcover edition I saw in store, that's just the softcover which is 69.99 for some awful reason.
The starter set is not the complete game, that's why it's so cheap. It's a 32-page booklet with some of the very basic rules, only covering the first few levels, along with a 64-page booklet with an adventure in it.
Pretty sure it doesn't even have rules for character creation, just 5 premade characters.
[editline]8th June 2015[/editline]
If you want hardcover books, there's pretty much no cheap option. Softcover books are slightly cheaper, but PDFs are for obvious reasons quite a bit cheaper still. And both D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder are totally free through the SRD.

Nope, it was a full rulebook and everything. I looked inside. It was a damn big box as well. To be fair though

That's not the starter set, then, I don't think.

"$58.00 list price", it's just discounted, they're not normally that cheap.

That's why I said "to be fair" - some of their stuff is expensive as well, but in my particular case it wasn't, and in the end was more expensive then pathfinder.

To be fair, it's hard not to be more expensive than Pathfinder when you can get it for free.

True :v:
I had to stop for a couple seconds to laugh after our cleric described how he got on the floor and started snorting bone dust.
Also our paladin got owned by a nothic

How did you manage to mess up a quote
I'm more used to PF but honestly D&D 5e looks interesting and I'd like to try it.

We started with lost mines, our DM said he wasn't sure if we would continue with another module or custom after it. yesterday I asked him again, and he said he liked to GM D&D 5e.

Do it.
Going druid just for wildshape is a total waste.

Alternatively, make a http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/UA_Eberron_v1.1.pdfShifter, if your DM is okay with it. Although, that doesn't let you fully change into an animal.
As an alternative to that, make up your own race using the DMG rules and the Shfiter/Changeling info as a basis.
You know what's neat? I've been playing Warframe again, and I really like the apparent backstory behind the game's Factions, especially the Grineer.
The Grineer are an angry army of pocky-faced clones looking to brute force their way in the Solar System. Just the idea that they have so abused cloning technology that they no longer resemble the humans they came from is distrubing. They're so mutated that they die within a few years of being made. It's a good concept for a far future, beyond human sci-fi setting.
Anybody want to gm a cyberpunk 2020 game? There a couple people on the Cyberpunk thread who want to try. Teamspeak and pre-setup roll20 will be provided. PM me if you have experience with cyberpunk 2020 or GM'd something else.

this will end in you taking up the GM mantle
trust me I've been through the exact same thing
I wish I could get my friends together for some good ole' Pathfinder/D&D, but doing it over the computer is so... messy for me.
Roll20 is difficult to work with sometimes with the new players, as character sheet are complicated for them to access and read as opposed to a sheet of paper you can just stare down at every now and again. The interface doesn't really inspire the same level of immersion as a physical table, lights dimmed and fingers coated in cheese powder. Plus, the more "disruptive" players are harder to wrangle on mics.
I just wish my friends lived closer :(

Nah, just tell them they can either get along or get kicked. Even easier than kicking someone out of a physical group.

Good idea. I hate being the fun police though, but holding up the DM's important speaking bits definitely needs to stop.

Sometimes you just gotta lay down the law mate. So long as you don't say you'll kick them a lot, just say it once at the beginning ("I hate to be the fun police but if things get too out of hand and I ask someone to quiet down and listen and they don't I will kick them, so please be respectful to both me and the rest of the group.), give a reasonable amount of time for them to stop on their own, ask nicely and then just say "okay, message me on steam (or skype or whatever) when you feel you're able to be respectful." and kick them.
A friend was telling me about his PF game, where the party had captured an ash imp, some good knowledge rolls from the cleric told them that it's magically hot, has an extra dimensional space on the inside (like a bag of holding) and eats by swallowing things and letting it burn inside it.
The barbarian asked what would happen if you fed it water, the cleric said it'd just boil the water and make steam. The rogue asked what would happen if you fed it weed :v:
