meanwhile, in the land of more armour hits than I'd normally roll dice to actually shoot the guy
So, in a game I'm playing in a few hours, I have rolled up a Human Bard with dwarfism.
We are in a Chinese themed campaign, and I have no idea how I should play this guy. He has a past of being a thief and a apprentice to a cleric of the snake zodiac. That's pretty much all the backstory I'm working with so far.
We're playing 5e.
Advice?
he has a fetish for real dwarves and is haunted by his insecurity over never being able to really be one
My character is an SBBW Gnoll with raven-hair, heterochromatic eyes and an inflation fetish, she's very sensitive about her pseudopenis, but let me talk about it for the next five minutes...
Session ended.
That was such a tragically low amount of progress for 6 hours that I'm honestly embarrassed. This shit is going to take even longer than a month as the pace that it's going.
1. Combat is slow.
2. We will never ever approach an encounter the way you think we will.
What is with newer players and wanting to slaughter all of the innocent townfolk despite their Good alignments?
What is with newer players and wanting to slaughter all of the innocent townfolk despite their Good alignments?
Maybe the townsfolk are all evil, you never know.
Let god sort them out.
What is with newer players and wanting to slaughter all of the innocent townfolk despite their Good alignments?
I'm seriously guessing it's because of all the greentext stories they read on /tg/ and think "wow i want to make hilarious stuff like that happen too!"
What is with newer players and wanting to slaughter all of the innocent townfolk despite their Good alignments?
Treating it like a videogame, usually.
What is with newer players and wanting to slaughter all of the innocent townfolk despite their Good alignments?
"And they can't stop me?"
"Well no, they're just farmers and sheep herders"
"AHAHAAH!" Pretty much.

23d6
why
23d6
why
Body 6, Swat Armor(15), Ballistic Mask(2)
That's all it takes to get 23 dice for armour rolls.
[editline]12th July 2015[/editline]
You can go way beyond that with augs, forearm guards, a swat helmet, etc etc.
If you want to be unkillable, it's easy to make yourself unkillable.
Still won't save you from getting ruined by a monowhip, assault cannon, grenades, or any troll with a melee weapon
When we played shadowrun I recall that something like 15 was my absolute minimum for any character that intended to see melee combat. I think my ex-specops razorgirl was rolling something like 27 odd dice for armor before pen, and even that pretty much only gave her immunity to pistols and SMG's
Nothing really guarantees immunity. There's always the chance that you'll completely fail the armour roll, and transform into a fine red mist.

take a troll, replace every limb with cyber, maximum armor enhancement on each, grab some heavy milspec armor and helmet, bone lacing and try to get a wizard to cast some armor spells on you
enjoy your 40-50ish armor, about 20 of which is hardened and thus worth roughly ~3 times more than usual, high ass body, and a bunch of extra damage boxes from your cyberlimbs on top
23d6
why
Basically, what Sib, Elly, and I are getting at is, 23 dice for armor is nothing.
[editline]12th July 2015[/editline]
It is a very stupid lucky roll, though.
how do people even play shadowrun in real life
how do people even play shadowrun in real life
I heard stories of GMs with 4 carts worth of d6 dice.
And then they roll it all by using a Bakugan arena table for the die rolls only.
how do people even play shadowrun in real life
buckets of dice
d6s as far as the eye can see
the elemental plane of d6
Apparently my love of dice would be perfect for Shadowrun. I bought over 10 of those 36 dice sets because the colors were nice.

And I only play D&D/Pathfinder
Oh, yeah, I made a rogue who has expertise in performance and persuasion whose sole purpose is to pick up women.
I can't wait for the GM to make the NPC cast a sausage fest.
Just finished creating my first ever Monk character for a Pathfinder session that's gonna happen in a few weeks. He seems pretty good, but I'm not very well-versed when it comes to Pathfinder stuff, so I'm just hoping I didn't make a stupid decision somewhere during character creation.
just make sure you understand how flurry of blows works before playing

I do, yes. Read over the rules for Flurry of Blows extensively when I was adding it to the character sheet. Seems perfectly manageable.
Then again, that's probably what a lot of people say before things collapse into a clusterfuck.

Despite what a lot of people say, Pathfinder isn't really all that complicated
It'll be fine a long as you put a little effort into knowing the rules

I'm less concerned about breaking a rule than I am about realizing that I built my Monk terribly and gave him fears that turn out to work poorly together. It's happened before.
Actually, now that I think about it, this isn't my first time creating a Monk, though it's my first time doing so while actually caring about how the character ends up. RIP Tengu Drunken Master, you were never meant to last long.
I've got a bunch of shit finished for my adventure for my IRL group, including the first quest just to get them used to the new rules, world map, and some stuff to upgrade their hideout. Gotta work on city maps now though and that'll be a pain in the ass.

oh cool gold
[editline]13th July 2015[/editline]
By done I mean I've written it up. Haven't actually played yet. Got plenty of time yet.
