I have betrayed my previous promise. I had said that if I got to play Shadowrun I would play a cyborg with the barest fraction of an Essence remaining. Well, my buddy is starting up a monthly Shadowrun game for a few out-of-town-friends, and instead I'm going to play an adept. But I am going to play a combat-heavy adept with ALL OF THE GUNS, so that redeems me somewhat, right?
Only if you have a flamethrower, grenades, a cannon and an shotgun with FA firemode.
Honestly, Full Adepts work very strongly with a few choice implants; A lot of the implants cost less essence than adept powers, especially if you have the dosh to get higher grade wetware.

Adepts, and mystical characters in general really, are pretty dependent on putting their resources at a very low priority, usually the lowest. You just can't afford 'ware with that little money, especially not high grade bio. You can add it later, of course, but you'll have to straight up sacrifice some of your powers.

You'll also not be able to initiate nearly as many times before you have to increase your magic score.

Initiating gives you access to a bunch of abilities besides letting you increase your magic, and it's fairly cheap while increasing your magic is ridiculously expensive, so a lot of people end up initiating a fuckton more than they actually increase their magic. But you can't initiate more times than your magic stat.
black crusade continues to be successful we went out, slaughtered a guard camp unprovoked to send a message, used the corpses to summon a bloodletter to cover our escape, and then stole a chimera and busted out also the fleshshaper tried to publicly murder a priest and just got killed in the process
The fact that they serve the Corpse Emperor is provocation enough
Well yes but we went out of our way to find them and mess them up Regardless they offered zero resistance to the space marine and the ex-SoB psyker, beyond like one or two 1-damage zealous furies
So I need a battle-mat or something similar for my IRL group. Is something like this worth the price? It seems nice and all the reviews are great, but I'm still not sure.
I have the same exact one. Only issue is that colored markers don't like to come off. Black marker works just fine. I like the texture of the mat and it can take some stress. Just remember not to use really hot water on it.
Definitely gonna need them to deal more damage moving forward but there's something cathartic about watching two guys stomp like twelve dudes

Just keep a cup of water around for the wet-erase markers and it's perfect.

does anyone have a link to an editable/self calculating character sheet for dark heresy 2e?
I'm about to start playing dnd for the first time at a local meetup (playing 3.5 dark sun apparently, joining midway). They didn't mention me bringing anything, but should I bring anything anyway?
Bring a few dice, pencil and notepad or something else to write on.
Bring two pencils, somebody else will forget to bring one

It shouldn't matter too much for your first session though; the DM or some helpful players will almost definitely let you use theirs. Other than that, a notepad and some pencils are essential.

Other that, just a notepad if you wanna be proactive.
does anyone have a link to an editable/self calculating character sheet for dark heresy 2e?
It doesn't autocalc, but it's fillable: Linkylink
My group is starting a short pathfinder campaign while two of our players are away for vacation. This means I get to roll up a new character. I was thinking about rolling up a lawful stup- good paladin. But I don't know if I want to make a really serious paladin or a goofy one.

Think Judge Dredd with a claymore. Take things seriously, but don't hold back from doing what the character would do, and give him some loud, scene-chewing dialog to be fun. "Are you afraid yet, criminal? No, you're not, not yet. You have not yet learned to fear my god and my laws. BUT I AM THE SWORD AND I AM THE SHIELD, AND YOU SHALL FEAR MY WRATH ERE THE DAY IS OUT, FOR THE STRENGTH OF THE IMMORTAL IS WITH ME AND THE FIRE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS BURNS AT MY SIDE" Shit like that. Have fun with the role, but don't be stupid with it.
Finally got to 3rd level as a bard in 5e. I think this is the highest level I've ever achieved in a game. (My group tends to have a lot of games going at once, and the games that I DM are the only ones that ever got to level 7 or so.) With level 2 spells open to me for the first time ever, I have no idea what spell to choose...

It was played a little ridiculously because of the tone of the game, but he had some fun moments of terrifying criminals. I kicked down doors so much the GM ended up having me find a magical pair of boots that doubled kicking force. Fun times. [sp]d&d stills sucks tho[/sp]

My paladin, however, was a paladin of Khorne, the Blood God (we'd transitioned from Black Crusade to Pathfinder, but somehow kept our characters). So mine had a bit of self-deception going on. He was absolutely convinced that Khorne was a) lawful, b) good, and c) some kind of god of justice. So if you were a "good guy", he was the most rational, agreeable person you could ever meet... but if he deemed you a "bad guy", you were in to taste his greatsword (which, in a former universe, was a Chaos Legion chainsword). It was generally agreed to be awesome. I mean, how many paladins will jump off a tower, screaming "SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!", just to get more force behind his greatsword stab?
how many paladins will jump off a tower, screaming "SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!", just to get more force behind his greatsword stab?
Pretty sure that's how you become a paladin in my group.

Fuck roll20 rolling. 90% of d20 rolls are 3s. The rest are 1s or 20s. Nothing else. [editline]17th July 2015[/editline] I'm salty af
