Pickup groups are amazing because you will either get a very good group or a very bad group. Both of which are loads of fun to be in.
I mean sure it's terrible to be in a group with a sourpuss DM and brow-beaten players, but having terrible edgemeister party members just opens the door to all sorts of trolling on your part that can't be ignored.

Good luck, guy. Hope it doesn't turn out shitty!
I'm thinking of starting an AD&D game when my current Monday 5e game wraps up, looking for 1-2 players. Will probably be a month or two, just gauging interest right now. Using a weird mash of Dark Sun and regular rules so it's going to be a bit different than a standard AD&D game.
If anyone's interested at all, pop me a PM and we can set something up. We can go over character creation and the like before the time comes.
Only a few hours left on the Bones kickstarter. Best back it now for dirt fucking cheap minis.
I shouldn't have done it. I'll never forgive myself for giving a decanter of endless water to a party after giving them a headband of intelligence first.
Oh, The great and bounteous PAIN that you get when your storyteller uses rules from older editions of the game (backrounds cost XP). Despite mostly using the newest edition (that merit is five points not three). Add the occasional rule that uses perception for guns rather than dexterity... Ah.
Ok. Well, They aren't game breaking-Terrible rules. But they're a disadvantage to low level characters like me (especially since I joined the game late). Who's playing a clan of vampires who're designed around accumulating backrounds and beating the game socially. Everyone else is a loner character who doesn't really need this stuff so it works out for em.
It's not that bad... I think it's just the denial of expectation. Ya put your points here in the hopes that it'll help you. Turns out It's not what ya needed, or there's an additional wall to climb.
I have the D&D4e PHB, DM Guide, and a Monster Manual. I wish I could trade them in for 5e stuff.
So our cleric decided he wanted to try to find someone to record all our deeds for us. He tried summoning an "angel or somethin'" and accidentally summoned a succubus that is now bound to his will and writes down everything we say and do.

Prepare for Yaoi.

TBH you're probably right.
Jesus fucking Christ Canuhearme? You where right. I just got back from our game a little while ago.
We camped out at night and I decided to look through the succubus's journal while she was resting.
I should've seen it coming when the GM described her as "bookish, reserved, and shy, likely in training, or a complete reject, as she doesn't seek to damn any of you."
I looked through her journal and she drew tons of pictures of me having gay sex with the ranger.
Like, a lot of pictures. And fan fiction of the dwarf and the rogue.
This fucking GM I swear I love and hate him at the same time.

Nothing confirmed yet, but I might have a spot in an upcoming 13th age Game for someone who's looking for a group.
Not a whole lot has been confirmed yet apart from the fact it'll take place at around 9pm GMT (4pm EST) and the game'll take place in Roll20 with OOC chatter via voice in Mumble.
Playing a rigger in an SR game where your team members aren't willing to give you a bigger share of the cash or chip in must suck, I've easily spent more money than the rest of the team combined and I'm still always broke and asking for more, meanwhile Cro and Mellow are giving me 500k each because they've run out of things they want to buy and don't know what to do with the money.
And that still doesn't cover all the cyberware I wanted, nevermind the upgrades on the jet or the extra drones.
You should hack their bank accounts and make them give you an equal share.
One of my friends, the guy who originally got me and the rest of our group into D&D and who normally acts as the DM, really doesn't want to play Pathfinder. He wants to stick with 3.5, and the only reason I can get out of him is "the specialization is too much."
I really wanna run Pathfinder, but I don't want an unhappy player and I suppose the differences aren't too crazy. I was thinking of just making the group (once we find two more at our university to fill the slots) make a character in D&D 3.5, and then have them remake it in Pathfinder to see which system they prefer just based on creation. Maybe run them through a faux battle which each character as well, to give them even more of a feel.
I dunno. Thoughts?

Honestly, you can just have the unhappy player make a 3.5 character, give them the same advancement that pathfinder characters do ( feats every other level, rather than every three ), maybe an extra feat or two just to help balance them out with slightly stronger pathfinder classes, and call it a day.
The two systems are so similar they may as well be interchangeable; The only real differences are a lot of the classes were buffed and a few systems are handled differently.

Tell him to get over it and recognize Pathfinder is really just 3.5e with tighter skills, generous feats and a better grappling system.
I mean there are better systems out there but if it's the argument between 3.5e and Pathfinder then Pathfinder is easily the better system.
Tell them to make Pathfinder characters and run a one-shot.
He has consented to simply being a 3.5 fighter. He thinks its harder to min-max in Pathfinder, but whatever.
I got a Pathfinder fighter to 30 AC at level 3 by just screwing around with feats and slapping on an archetype. But I guess I'll see how he does.
he is infinitely mistaken if he thinks that playing as a fighter is harder to minmax in PF than 3.5
this is from someone who got a level 11 fighter to kill a Horned Devil in 2 rounds of combat
you can cheese that shit so hard it's unreal

I killed a Balor in one round as a level 10 monk, so yeah, no kidding.

"The Group of Adventurers, largely mysterious and unknown, soon freed the land from tyranny and evil. The villagers and townsfolk sung songs of praise and glory and hailed them as heroes. However, just as quickly as they had arrived the adventurers disappeared into parts unknown. Decades past and story turned to legend. Thousands flocked to the sites of their great battles, scouring every corner for relics and clues about the legendary heroes. It was only once they traversed through the ruined remains of an abandoned camp did the archaeologists uncover a perplexingly out of place book bound in crude leather and seemingly left abandoned near the remains of an old fire.
The pages, hard to pry apart initially, were filled to the brim with accounts of the groups exploits. Historians rejoiced as they returned the memoir to the finest Academies of History and Lore. The scribes combed through every page and absorbed every detail. The battle at Shattered Creek, the raid on Bloodfangs Camp, and the brave final stand against Lich Un'tark! All recorded and lovingly illustrated in an enchantingly unique style that seemed... almost otherworldly.
The scribes copied every story again and again until their ink ran dry and the parchment could hold no more words. It seemed every question about the legendary heroes had been answer, except for one raised by the discovery of the memoir:
How, in all the gods names, had the adventurers made time for heroism with all the hardcore gay sex they'd been having with one another?"

I'll find some way to murder him horribly.

He's a fighter, just throw a wizard with the proper spells at him.
