drau pls don't encourage the boy
Hey now, I'm not encouraging anything, I gave him the cons along with the pros. If he spends half his BP on a nuclear bomb he's going to be very weak compared to the others who spent 300bp on a very solid mech... Assuming they don't get hit by his nuke...

Really, if someone gets the initiative on the dude who blew half his budget on a big bomb, he's probably gonna crash and burn before it can even go off. Also for the record the numbers we're working with are actually pretty small. Considering some of the pre-built Meks they have in the various books can go up to the 1000s easy? I was keeping it low-key for the campaign to be slightly less super robot right off the bat.
That and mines require stepping in the same hex to activate. Not terribly fool-proof.
i'll just buy two nukes i dont need a mech
Fuck, that was my plan.
What if you make a suicide bomber mech and destroy the enemy along with yourself? Who wins?
What if you make a suicide bomber mech and destroy the enemy along with yourself? Who wins?
Heroic sacrifice at best and 'if we lose everybody loses' at worst depending on the outcome
What if you make a suicide bomber mech and destroy the enemy along with yourself? Who wins?
In other news, martial law has been declared after a match in a local Mech tournament ended in nuclear hellfire...
two days ago: "Fuck man I can't decide on backstory for this fighter" "make it a mercenary wanting to get money to fund his own Private military company" (basically big boss). Decided to use another backstory. today: "Hey the icon you picked looks kinda like snake!" I feel I missed a big opportunity :v:
What if you make a suicide bomber mech and destroy the enemy along with yourself? Who wins?
allah, I'd think
On a related note to Mekton, I'm running a combat for someone right now. He has a melee guy currently attacking a(n abnormally maneuverable courtesy of fancy thruster systems) fighter jet that is grounded due to a lack of wing and enough thrust to continue flying, but thanks to its fancy thrust systems it still has enough power to dodge attacks. So there's a one-winged jet sliding across the desert while a guy with a big sword tries to chop it like a dude with a sledgehammer attacking an abnormally quick roomba. It's actually kinda funny.
So first session playing as the psyker in only war went alright. Only summoned warp ghosts once. That the resident weapon specialist promptly failed the roll against fear and was knocked unconscious for 5 rounds.

This happened because in my foolishness I opened the hatch of my mek to try and finish off his pilot using a sniper rifle. But I wiffed the damage roll badly, resulting in no injury at all to the pilot, and opening up the opportunity to fire back. My luck was so bad that whole combat sim.

If I hadn't nicked your Honda's leg and the thrusters inside it you could have kept speeding away and skirting my distance easily, especially after downing the Harrier. That still took entirely too long though.
Man if I had the patience and time to play a Mekton game I'd want to play an Armored Core game.
Man if I had the patience and time to play a Mekton game I'd want to play an Armored Core game.
I really enjoy the Mekton combat. I don't know how else to phrase it, but the fights just feel impactful and satisfying, like every hit that deals damage really counted and wasn't just arbitrarily decreasing a number. Especially when you actually nail someone in a limb and disable it.
tbf a number of systems do realistic damage pretty well, Rolemaster's system was a favorite of mine

[editline]6th August 2015[/editline] Although I'm sure if you wanted to make a mech that blew up if someone hit a certain part in that system you could.

Just store more stuff in lightly armoured pods. Mostly nukes, missiles, mines or bombs.
As a related note, a powerplant hit is an automatic 1 in 10 (or 50/50 with a Hot plant) chance of instant Mek explosion. [editline]6th August 2015[/editline] My merge has been assassinated. Why Drau, why?
Because I really like killing merge. It pleases me.
I love how crunchy Pathfinder is, but without the Pathfinder Autosheet rolling a character would be a massive pain. I can't imagine how people do it on physical sheets.

I'm still looking for 1 more player for Super Smash Mekton, if anyone's interested! $20 on the line, how could a bunch of jobless NEETs pass up a chance to win money doing NEET things? Sign up today! That aside, I've an announcement for all of my current contestants. I'll be sure to pester you each individually, but I'll make the announcement here as well. In this link is a download for the Mekton Zeta books you'll need for the game, along with two painstakingly written by me tutorials done up as layman as possible so nearly anyone will be able to understand and follow along. Do yourself and me a favor and read them both. It'll explain the battle in detail and give you a rundown on everything you'll need to know, especially since I expect you to build your own Meks. If I did it for you it wouldn't really be the same, would it? No deadlines or anything like that at the moment, so download and read them at your leisure. Feel free to jam with friends and brew up some ideas for your game-winning Mek. Any questions, you know how to contact me. PM, Steam, or just post here.

I know I'm weird but it's a lot easier for me, I can give reference to everything I've taken and I get some freedom in how it is layed out.
I use Mythweaver's sheets a lot, they've got big sections for adding in extra notes which is handy.

Noticed you can make belt-fed fully automatic nuclear artillery on legs in Mechton and have it qualify for Ap's game
Assuming the Aperture allows belt-fed, etc.
