Yeah you can generally assume when you come across a scroll it'll be of the minimum caster level, I was just disputing the fact that he said scroll are always at the minimum caster level. 'cuz it ain't right
It's the same with any magic item. It makes it way more expensive, usually to minimal, if any, benefit. Wands, for instance, using a higher caster level makes them quite pricy for usually not much added value.
adds damage dice to your fireballs unless you're playing a 5e which is why it's bad
No magic item making in 5e without specific recipes, and the process isn't really defined. 3e, on the other hand, REQUIRED you to be LOADED with magic items at all times, and constantly upgrading or you were useless. Mages suffered less from it, but even they wanted shit like headbands of intellect.

So I'm working on a homebrew setting, basically colonial America with ice age mammals and folklore monsters. Was trying to find some good rules to use for giant sloths, which I was going to refer to as dire sloths. Imagine my surprise when it turned out that's an actual thing in Pathfinder.
I want an Advanced Class Guide for 5e. I really like how the 5e classes are designed and want to see what they can do with stuff like Cavaliers and Alchemists.
Trying to find a good model to use as a Menehune in Shadowrun. I'm kind of aiming to play him as Tito from Rocket Power but as a dwarf.
what how does this even relate to what i was saying?
You can't make magic items at all in 5e, at least without a specific recipe and GM approval, so the 'level' of the fireball doesn't matter so much, but if you DID make it more powerful (by using it as a higher slot) it would just use more charges than normal based on other, similar magic items.
It's not always the minimum level. You can scribe spells at higher caster levels, most people just don't because it's even more expensive. [editline]10th August 2015[/editline] It could just crawl out of the ocean instead of trying to swim up, though. It'd take a really long time, but it'd happen eventually.
Nah because it takes more damage from water pressure every round than it is capable of regenerating, it doesn't get the chance to move once it drowns and either dies as the rules say it should or it never comes out of negative hit points because it physically cannot.

returned to my irl pathfinder game this weekend to discover I'm now the only player that hasn't died and basically all their problems and arguments over the summer would have been solved by me being there I feel suddenly more valuable

Think I've finished my Mekton mech Not sure if I'm cheesed enough to compete though
That's how I felt when I found out the three weeks I missed on holiday were spent killing one dude, making two phone calls and driving to Chicago.
we've kinda been in a rut without you, yeah
Think I've finished my Mekton mech Not sure if I'm cheesed enough to compete though
Yeah, I'm curious as to what everyone else has made, my design is pretty solid.
You guys are welcome to drop your builds if you feel like giving your opponent a potential edge over you, but I'm really enjoying seeing what people can come up with. Some of this stuff I never would have thought to do or tried to squeeze into a budget like that. I will end up revealing everything about everyone's designs after the first round of fights are over though. I'll even make obnoxious write-ups in an over-enthused sports announcer tone of a play-by-play for the fights. I will make a summary of the contestants and their builds if there are enough people interested in betting. I know at least one or two people expressed interest. In regards to betting, I'll probably make it a $5 bet where the winner of the competition and the people who bet on them will split the total pool in some way. I'm thinking maybe 50/50, as in half of the pool for the player and the other half split among the winners. If the math somehow comes out to make it so you "win" less than the $5 you put in I'll just refund everyone's cash. So just to get an idea of if anyone is actually interested in betting on Super Smash Mekton, rate agree. The roster of players is as follows, just so you know who's involved. I'll release their build info (privately so as not to show the other fighters) if I get enough interest.
cdr248 CSG172 FetchingToaster Firefox42 Kisame Krinkels Rents SiberysTranq
I'm betting £20 on myself, come at me
I'm betting £20 on myself, come at me
You can bet that on yourself, send the money to me, win the competition, then I'll send it back to you. Or you could just buy yourself a game if you win, like a little pat on the back.

I'm feeling pretty confident in my design but we'll see once I get into battle and die in the first round.
I'm not much of a gambling man, but I'd place my bets on those with unorthodox mecha design choices. Those tend to bend the rules of the system in ways that people don't expect.

What aspect of RPGs does everyone here most enjoy? Secondly, how do you handle bookkeeping and keeping track of everyone's stats in your games, online and off?

I like seeing good stories come together through the people involved. And my groups just use Dropbox or Google Docs to sync character sheets.
When are we doing meks? And can I still sign up as a contender?
