Welp, can't find any auto-filling 2nd AD&D sheets. I guess I'll just have to pull just some spreadsheet and painstakingly refer the rulebooks to fill numbers.
There's no autofilling ones, but Mythweavers has the cleanest looking one. [editline]20th August 2015[/editline]
It largely depends on their specific spell loadouts, but there's a couple things that are pretty standard for kicking wizard butt. Spell resistance, of course. Ability damage or drain abilities targeted at either their casting attribute, constitution or strength is extremely useful. Grapplers, as you said, but especially also if the have the strangle ability. And for that matter, absolutely anything that silences them, like the spell silence, or drowning. Immunities to status effects are useful, especially immunity to mind-affecting effects. High saving throws are always good. Resistance or immunity to elemental damage types. [sp]Anti Magic, but that's really mean[/sp]
WILD magic is far more amusing! Wild magic bursts on every spell, spell-like ability, magic item that uses a charge (including ingested potions and used scrolls), and even psionic shit. That adds more FUN!!! to the game, far more amusing than just shutting them down!
Try saying that after being a dm who has put dozens of hours of work into a campaign.
As long as they put some effort into screwing the GM's plan I think that's the funnest part of GMing, at least in my experience. Though if they just fly past all the issues or something lame like that because they can cast flight on everyone then yeah it kinda blows.

Though if they just fly past all the issues or something lame like that because they can cast flight on everyone then yeah it kinda blows.
Yeah, I could have been more clear on that. If it was something clever on their part then I'm perfectly fine with that personally. (I'd still be a bit annoyed that I spent so much time on something only for it to go to waste but that'd be far outweighed by being impressed with how they accomplished it.) It's that latter sort of deal I was talking about.
This is why I've stopped planning things in detail. I just plan the basics of the first hour or so, anything long I might want to just copy-paste to save time, and then leave the rest a basic skeleton outline of what I expect.
Plans are for the weak. Make characters, give them goals that put them in conflict with the players, and give them tools to pursue those goals. Don't make plans - a real villain would react to new developments, so even if things go *right*, you should be changing your plans anyways. Be both proactive and reactive - adapt to what the players do, but also take the lead and throw things at them directly. Spec out just enough about the setting that you can handle predictable things - if it's a city, spec out the guards, if it's a dungeon, spec out some denizens, etc., and have a list of tavern names (because players always want to get drunk for some reason) and some members of nobility (who can serve as anything from quest givers if the party actually wants to do things properly, to assassination targets if they decide to murderhobo the game).

Anti-magic, though...
I don't know about any monstars that can shoot wild magic fields out of their face, though. Anti-magic, though...
Wild mages, for one! One of the best things they could do in AD&D was their Wild Magic spells they got, shit that made huge areas just constantly cause wild bursts. They could control their own bursts to an extent with spells, which let them do horrifying shit while all other spell casters are melting or turning into daisies. In AD&D, assuming you didn't get unlucky at low levels (even more likely for Wild mages than any other sort of mage), they'd achieve power far above that of any other spellcaster through their manipulation of the madness of wild surges. And hey, imagine a beholder whose gaze was wild magic instead! Spellcasters would shit their pants even harder, while the beholder itself is using magic eye lasers that aren't being affected by that shit.
I don't know what it is, but the feeling of taking off my shoes after wearing them all day puts me in a pen and paper mood. I think I'm going to work on a few general paths for the first Shadowrun session that I think I am going to start next week.
Try saying that after being a dm who has put dozens of hours of work into a campaign.
why do you think i don't put hours of work into a campaign my planning phase goes something like this: write out the first paragraph so I immediately have something I can throw in when the game starts That's about it. Other than that I just try to get myself into the right mindset. Never do anything another party member tells you to but won't do themselves.
-snip-
Never do anything another party member tells you to but won't do themselves.
Oh no he did it too and now we're both fucked. Going to be interesting to see how I can get out of this one.
Oh no he did it too and now we're both fucked. Going to be interesting to see how I can get out of this one.
you ever going to elaborate on exactly what happened come on man you're keeping us all in suspense
Sorry bout that was thinking about how to save everyone. Gist of what happened is while out fighting gnolls who had stolen our furniture for our newly bought house. Sersain our cleric got cornered and was hit with one to many diseases which includes, the fucking bubonic plague. Naturally he dies so we regroup. A party member I had just saved by teleporting him away runs off to the city to get help. Our warsmith was left in the fray surrounded by gnolls constantly attacking her while she parries and blocks each blow. By the end of it there were probably around 50 arrows in her shield. Perun the investigator comes back a few turns later with k'risha the dragonborn wizard who's been acting primarily as our questgiver and helped us buy the house. He walks up to the nearest eldrich abomination and electrifies it which arcs off and spreads throughout almost every gnoll killing them instantly. During this time Ezekial lines up behind the wizard and fires a barrage of arrows towards his back. The first two arrows enter piercing a lung from behind while another tears through the wizards robe burrowing into his leg, tripping him whilst ezekial dodges an disintegrate spell. The warsmith now devoid of enemies charges the wizard and stabs him while he's lieing on the ground and knocks him unconsciousness. We had a moment to think about what we just did before two stone genies pop up and demand us to put our weapons down before they flip our pancakes. We do and now two stone genies are waiting for us in his mansion for him to wake up since our warsmith cleric didnt prepare any healing spells. Next session we get to see if he lives which probably directly correlates to whether I live too. For some clarification the warsmith was the one telling me to attack him and the gm telling me to suck that dick was because I was took a while deciding what to do. I interpreted that as him calling me a pussy so I attacked. I'm pretty tired right now as its 6 am so the writing is probably not the best. Worst part about this is it was essentially an unprovoked attack so were now dirty murderhobos. I've got some ideas about how to get out of it though so I'll see.

I didn't mean to imply to do it or not. Just wanted to enforce a bit of a time limit. But yeah, it was kinda unprovoked. Let's hope the gods smiles upon you, for next session. PS: Basically they knocked out one of the most influential person on the continent, who happens to be a powerful wizard. PPS: While we can, we are actually looking for one more player as of right now. Not sure how we would get him in, but could be good for the party.

Five level 2 players start to divvy up the precious loot/gold from a CR2 miniboss and his lackeys, one of them suggests that the people who did the most damage should get larger portions of the loot. Queue huge shitstorm. Shitstorm increases in intensity after the person who did the most damage (me) and had therefore had the biggest cut turns down his share out of good will. Half of the fun of overcoming AC20 tanks as a group of level 2 unoptimized babies is succeeding on the 50% blindness auto miss rolls and scoring a crit followed by a 19 on a rapid shot longbow. The other half of the fun comes from the ragtag murderhobos then attempting to """""fairly""""" split loot.
Are most of the other players from MMOs? If I was a GM in that situation I'd shut that shit down quick, people arguing over dice rolls or what imaginary XP/loot their make believe elves get is petty bullshit.

XP didn't factor in to the loot splitting because it was an IC squabble, but the DM did shut it down pretty quick.
I didn't influence you to kill the wizard at all Kisame what are you talking about [sp]doitdoidoitdoit[/sp]
i dont understand you knocked out a powerful, influential wizard how is this a bad thing, it's a perfect time to take over the country
how soon until a kill squad of assassins (or worse yet, another adventuring party) or even better, an entire nation, goes after your characters for what they went and did? This isn't even including whatever associates the wizard himself had, because powerful wizards tend to have many associates who'd be very interested in getting revenge on the murderhobos who beat the crap out of him in unprovoked fashion.
I stabilized the guy at least. I'll still probably be executed but hey I tried
it might get you clemency I suppose, depending on roleplaying, but the dm might well decide to be a douche and say 'you all get arrested and executed. the end. roll new PCs?'

Haha, I honestly have no idea what to do right now, but hey at least I have a week to figure it out.
nah man wizards dont have any friends
This wizard has a lot of friends and associates.
nah man wizards dont have any friends
He had genies who appeared when we bonked him on the head.
