This wizard has a lot of friends and associates.
Dominate person and Geas do not make for good friends
Dominate person and Geas do not make for good friends
shhhh your not supposted to say that...
Me as the GM was thinking the more cruel alternative, "So here I sentence you to one of my demiplanes, The Tomb of Horror look-a-like!" or something. Haha, I honestly have no idea what to do right now, but hey at least I have a week to figure it out. This wizard has a lot of friends and associates.
At the very least, if you come up with some convincing story as to why it happened, the group might *merely* get away with being fined and/or geased to perform a service now, or at some future date. They'll definitely have made a mid to long-term enemy in the wizard, unless he happened to be somewhat forgiving. Even Elminster Aumar, for all his failings, never took forgiveness too far when it was clear there would be no point in the same.
This wizard has a lot of friends and associates.
he must be a really weak wizard or maybe he's secretly a sorcerer
he must be a really weak wizard or maybe he's secretly a sorcerer
why does this hurt my feelings
why does this hurt my feelings
because deep down inside you know sorcerers are cooler than wizards, and regret not making one instead of a wizard?
Yeah, I mean he had helped them several times, allowed them to practically sell borderline illegal magical weapons and items through his channels/connections, they were able to buy property in the city due to him and his connections, he saved one of their lives on a whim etc. He's been paying them really well for the quests they've done and so on. why does this hurt my feelings
Then they're at the least out a patron, this is going to hit their pocket books hard and will probably lead to trouble in another form later down the line. Assuming the adventurers get out of this scrape, some years down the line they might patch things up and laugh about the time the poor bugger nearly got his head staved in. Or they might not and still be angry with the party for what they did (and it would be understandable, too!) But first comes the big question; what are those genies going to do to the party? they'll probably tear them to shreds, unless they make a run for it.
WHICH IS WHY HE'S PROBABLY EVIL I MEAN NO ONE IS THAT NICE
because deep down inside you know sorcerers are cooler than wizards, and regret not making one instead of a wizard?
why take levels in sorcerer when you can be a wizard/psion multiclass :^)
why take levels in sorcerer when you can be a wizard/psion multiclass :^)
Sorcerer / Wilder. But forreal Wizards are stronger, unless you're making a blaster caster.
why take levels in sorcerer when you can be a wizard/psion multiclass :^)
why multiclass when you can be good
because deep down inside you know sorcerers are cooler than wizards, and regret not making one instead of a wizard?
no don't worry dude, I got that covered. In another campaign that I'm gming, it's basically about drows invading a country and wanting to enslave them all. The party is going to come in contact with one of the army's greatest generals. The illustrious, glamorous Afrador, the drow high noble illusion sorcerer. Here is a pic of him that I got drawn in a drawthread on /tg/. (lets just say my request was.. very different from the result): [T]http://i.imgur.com/Rxn3LbC.jpg[/T]
WHICH IS WHY HE'S PROBABLY EVIL I MEAN NO ONE IS THAT NICE
you'd be surprised though, folks with power can be just as nice as the next guy, but because they have power, you don't go pissing them off. Making them angry can often be a sure-fire way to a shallow grave or a slave market.

Make it a multi-dimensional maze, they have to go through portals leading to different planes full of different shit to escape, on top of dealing with traps, monsters, and environmental hazards they have to actually map out multiple planes of maze.

[editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
that's like one of the most accurate illustrations of a Drow I've ever seen.
fix'd
that's like one of the gayest illustrations of a Drow I've ever seen.
you must never have looked at... any Drow illustrations ever
What time do you guys play? I might be interested.
you must never have looked at... any Drow illustrations ever
[t]http://utopiaweb.org/rpg/tundra/img/warlock.jpg[/t] what I think the average drow arcanist probably looks like
Even though the party totally fucked up my plans, I'm still loving this. The genies will probably set up a court and they will have to be their own defense. The fun part is, that they really decided to get arrested by the genies instead of actually going full way and try to kill them as well. Poor roleplaying deserves such rewards, unless the party are really big on sticking to their guns in defending their errant comrade.
