Once you've got concept, you can start splicing in backstory after you've had a chance to play for a while by just throwing in little anecdotes about your childhood/home etc. If you've got a fun concept then your mind will just start filling up with little ideas about what made your character the way they are.
I started channeling satan and converted Bone Weirds for 5e. Convenient html block Still gotta figure out it quite a bit. They were from absolutely horrifyingly lethal campaign, so that kinda reflects their stats. Plus I think the conversion guide might have been slightly wonky.

A party at that level can easily kill it during the 2 rounds its taking to form. It's instant death is stronger than typical instant death abilities, though (CR 21 Solar gets a DC 15 slaying arrow and it only works on creatures with 100 hp or less, but Solar also has a while bunch of other things) As a large creature, it should have d10 hit dice, not d8. Negative hit points also aren't a thing in 5e - I'd consider changing it to be based on death saves (maybe when reduced to 0 hp, instead of making a death saving throw on its turn, it automatically gains a success at the end of its turn and when it gets three successes it's fully healed?) The check to escape from something like it's knockdown ability would usually be a Strength check rather than a Strength saving throw and it really needs some saving throw proficiencies (Wisdom, at least - even with turning defiance, this thing will be a joke to a level 15 cleric. It's also hyper vulnerable to a monk's stunning fist, so Con saves would be good too). I'd also consider giving it multiattack - many things that used to have only one attack have a few now, but it's not absolutely necessary. One thing about it's save or die ability - a system shock check in AD&D is much easier to succeed on than a DC 18 Constitution saving throw in 5e, if that's what you're basing it on.

I'll see how I can change it up. I uploaded the stat block into dropbox and will change it up occasionally. So far, the notable changes are that it only takes 1 round for Bone Weird to assemble now, but the saving throw for not dying is lower. Plus wisdom/constitution proficiencies.
I thought I was running a sky pirates game, but now its turned into Romeo and Juliet with eye patches. I think the players are going to be initiated into one of the families next game.
So I just rolled critical fumbles twice in a row.... Then on the second fumble I roll a nat 20 to confirm the effect. The first roll I threw a dagger at a zebub and it landed back into my face... Then on my next turn I shot my musket and misfired while also somehow blinding myself with my own blood.
I thought I was running a sky pirates game, but now its turned into Romeo and Juliet with eye patches. I think the players are going to be initiated into one of the families next game.
is that code for a forced tpk sometime in the late game
is that code for a forced tpk sometime in the late game
They nearly had one tonight when they had to rely on a couple of rolls and clever use of magic to avoid a group of one family's thugs from lighting a pile of gunpowder in the middle of a ballroom party, at one stage they were about a meter away from a guy about to ignite a barrel. I don't know how I would have saved the campaign if they had survived an explosion because every damn named NPC except Romeo was in that room.
Making shadowruns is way too addictive It's all the fun of randomly generating planets in Rogue Trader, only with the assurance that I will actually be able to put all the work to actual use in game because unless the entire party suddenly apropos of nothing decides to go somewhere else, they're only going to get the jobs that they get It's all the ability to direct the actual flow of the story that you have with railroading, while still giving the players choices and options, but in a way that doesn't paralyze them with indecision and burn me out from constant improv and I really am enjoying it way more than I expected I would
OH GOD WHAT A fucking lemure made a critical hit and a critical failure IN THE SAME ROUND WITH ITS TWO ATTACKS. It dislocated one of its arms and then RIPPED MY EAR OFF with the other one
Just started character creation for a Pathfinder campaign with my dormmates. Half elf cavalier, let's see how this works out.
Just started character creation for a Pathfinder campaign with my dormmates. Non-lethal greatsword was fun.

Riding around on the roads of the land, 'helping' people no matter how much they object to my actions, sleeping in a tent by the side of the road. The life of a noble, purehearted horseman.
Decided to try my hand at making an island map for a new campaign I'm starting (Drastically changing landscape is completely intentional) [t]http://puu.sh/k5gki/e790b78ae4.png[/t] using d&d 5e, decided to homebrew a few things for the players such as usage of a Tarot Deck and some custom feats. Really looking forward to running this campaign as it's a complete remake of the first one I ever did any feedback on the map is appreciated

Why is there so much open lava? Why is it so close to the area of solid ice?
Why is there so much open lava? Why is it so close to the area of solid ice?
because he needed to find a way to get them directly from the ice dungeon to the fire dungeon
because he needed to find a way to get them directly from the ice dungeon to the fire dungeon
why not.. make them the same dungeon! slipping on ice into lava.
why not.. make them the same dungeon! slipping on ice into lava.
Don't be silly, dungeons can't have two themes. That's just ridiculous.

Spoiler tags = don't read if you're participating in the campaign
why is there a bunch of towns in barrendesertwasteland but none in idyllicgreengrassland i dont understand
because [sp]those towns are abandoned, nobody's actually living on this island and it was an attempt at trying to get away from everything else happening that failed[/sp], though I think I did add one to the greenland right after i took that screenshot though
Why is there so much open lava? Why is it so close to the area of solid ice?
There's a lot more distance between those two areas than the map makes it seem, and like I said this is intentionally not a realistic landscape. [sp]Because it's not even a real location, it's a linked subconscious between all the characters which is why there's such a huge clash of locations in the first place. The whole island's geography being ridiculous is brought up multiple times[/sp]
Picked up my hard copy of Chrome Flesh today. [sp]Nanomachines, son[/sp] I kinda had an idea for a SR5e campaign based off MGSV, where the players are members of a private military company that grows and grows. Money comes into a large pool for use by the whole PMC, so the players have to balance upgrading the base, hiring/equipping new soldiers, the day-to-day costs of running the company, and buying their own equipment. Soon they'd have the staff and facilities to only have to cover the material costs of cybernetics and other equipment (having it built by gunsmiths on-site), but will draw the ire of governments and other groups that don't like what they're up to, and soon it goes from odd job PMCing to a full scale war against a nation or other organization. [editline]9th September 2015[/editline] I even tried to recreate MGS' famous CQC using the Run And Gun martial arts system: Karmic Response Monkey Climb Yielding Force (Throws) Multiple Opponent Combat Multiple Opponent Defense Releasing Talons
Last PF session was pretty awful for me, since my current bloodrager is kinda not growing and has very little to mechanically. Maybe it was just particularly woeful session for him, but still. Feeling mechanically constrained and the RP's not going too well for him. But anyway. Still have to figure stats, etc. Sort of patriarch in exile, stern, religious, but affable LE character, I'd think. Disciple would be primarily Veiled Crescent and Shattered Mirror... Also, because I am such a horrible person, I made more creatures for 5e. The Savior Medkit sounds a lot like the first aid spray used when treating a "serious injury" in MGSV as well.
The Filthy Sandrakers drove everyone else off this world.
oh man i want a tribes rpg with silly mekton-level combat slide down a hill to vaporize dudes at 400 mph
shadowrun accomplished party blew up an airplane with five kilos of plastic explosive, right after setting fire to a fuel tanker, and right next to a military munitions dump, so they had a wonderfully massive explosion also the sammy 'accidentally' punched four firefighters to death
Made some changes to my homebrew Civilization Domain, namely making Flagbearer a core mechanic rather than just the level 17 ability. [t]https://i.imgur.com/SR2gaWc.png[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/J6g6AS5.jpg[/t]
