you dont have an ounce of good inside your evil heart
Hey now, only the evil half posts on Facepunch. You don't know me.
Opinions please, what makes a good GM, and what makes a good adventure?
Players that want to play with you again and had fun in the adventure. That's it. How you get there will always be different; shockingly different people like different things and you'll only know what that is from time and experience.
So tonight's session started with a discussion on how best to cook a kobold, followed by a disturbingly detailed conversation about the sexual habits of dragons in regards to humans and how they can swap between dragon form and human form. We also had a discussion regarding our Gnome Mage's -1 initiative modifier, and whether that would be nullified if our Goliath picked him up and held him in front of him at arm's length due to him now being closer to any enemies. Gnome Mage: "Does our fighter count as a small campfire?" (said mage had set him on fire) The best action however, was our fighter asking one of our Bards to, and I shit you not, 'throw him a spear'. Said fighter ended up with a hole in the hand and 7 hitpoints less. Fun times. :v: We ended up with no less than 3(!) Dragon Eggs after we set a Roper free. We discussed beforehand whether or not we should've done that, cause none of us knew what it was. Decided to take the risk of trusting him and he actually came through.
So I told my friends about Eclipse Phase. Now they want to do a game where everyone is an octomorph with 6 SMGs; one in each tentacle and we solve all our problems by picking a direction and disintegrating it with ballistics fire.

Octomoprhs, by extension, do as well. Even more dakka!
I was under the impression we needed a couple to keep ourselves held up, but sure. :v:
You've got to remember tentacles are long, so you can easily support yourself and still walk about with things in them. Also be very afraid if that's the case because the volume of dakka that sort of configuration can put out is game-breaking enough with only one person doing it. It's literally a walking lobby scene from the Matrix. Multiple ones would just be too much Edit: Oh lord. One of our guys for our Cyberpunk game decided he's going to play an archer, which prompted me to take a look at them And good god, even in a world where it's not considered unreasonable to chamber a full-auto rifle in .300 magnum, bows have some goddamn unspeakable firepower. Mostly because they can get soft armor penetration without losing damage, or even while gaining it, which means some crazy bastard with a borg-bow and spinner arrows can hit harder than an anti-materiel rifle, which is just fucking nuts any way you slice it. Granted they've got relatively short ranges, and at the far end they lose most of their damage, but considering we're in an urban environment where that issue is unlikely to come up it's kind of nuts. Though I suppose I still have full-auto and hard armor penetration to comfort myself with at night
between his bow, your masheeen gohns, and my flamethrowers, we'll be a killing machine
Hey now, only the evil half posts on Facepunch. You don't know me.
If the media has taught me anything, evil people can commit good acts, but the reverse can not be said for good people.
seeing people gear up to play cyberpunk 2020 warms my heart cause it's like my favorite system and not enough people play it these days <3

I don't know what it is with cyberpunk games and bows.

The Remington roared, its meter of muzzle-flash blue in the light from the pool. The second arrow struck the shotgun itself, sending it spinning across the white tiles. Maelcum sat down hard and fumbled at the black thing that protruded from his arm. He yanked at it. Hideo stepped out of the shadows, a third arrow ready in a slender bamboo bow. He bowed. Maelcum stared, his hand still on the steel shaft. `The artery is intact,' the ninja said. Case remembered Molly's description of the man who'd killed her lover. Hideo was another. Ageless, he radiated a sense of quiet, an utter calm. He wore clean, frayed khaki workpants and soft dark shoes that fit his feet like gloves, split at the toes like tabi socks. The bamboo bow was a museum piece, but the black alloy quiver that protruded above his left shoulder had the look of the best Chiba weapons shops. His brown chest was bare and smooth.
That's what it is. Pretty much everything in every cyberpunk setting I came across can be traced back to either Neuromancer or Ghost In The Shell :v:
Bows are like that in other games. We had a nWOD game go off track because one guy's bow and arrow turned out to be ridiculously better than everything else. I don't recall the details, but I seem to recall it was because most weapons use skill+attribute, whereas the bow was dex+firearms+str rating of blow + plus whatever wacky arrows they had, which often had armor piercing as well. If a weapon's dice pool is 3 stats instead of 2, a min-maxed bowman become a problem.
they're kinda meh in L5R, though arrows were expensive and there really wasn't a lot you could do to increase the damage you did
they're kinda meh in L5R, though arrows were expensive and there really wasn't a lot you could do to increase the damage you did
they're fine at lower levels, but as you get higher level and thus higher stats, they gradually become less powerful since they don't scale for shit magic has a somewhat similar problem
they're kinda meh in L5R, though arrows were expensive and there really wasn't a lot you could do to increase the damage you did
With exploding damage dice though, and especially if you spec into them (The Hiruma slayers or the like who got to completely ignore armor with them come to mind) the guy who can get his exploding dice hit in at range kind of has a huge advantage even if it eventually degrades into melee combat that first strike still gives you a big boost since hurting the enemy's dice pool is really good
Hey so I've been recently trying to get better at figures, characters, etc... In my art. So I was wondering if anybody would like me to make either a head shot or full body portrait of their character for free. Thought it'd be a fun way to practice. I can't promise I'd be fast or be able to do a lot since I'm in school and work but if somebody wants to post a description of their character I'm totally down. I'm not the best artist but I'm hoping this will help me improve.

I could PM you a description of a Cyberpunk character with a rough sketch of what I imagined him to look like, if that's what you'd be into

It reminds me of the in-game Fallout ads. Here's a description of my character, if you're interested: Cid Starclan is on the short side, even for a dwarf. However, he is very buff and wide, his silhouette almost resembling a square shape. He is middle aged, and maybe started to have some semblance of wrinkles on his face. He is bald, and has a relatively short (for a dwarf) brown beard. His skin is scarred in multiple places, after many close calls. He wields an oversized blacksmith's hammer with scorch and burn marks on it, his last remaining possession from his life before adventuring. He became devout to Moradin during his adventure, and wears a magical periapt engraved with Moradin's symbol. His breastplate is engraved with magical runes and a star symbol on the center. Other than that, he wears no helmet, shield, or any kind of armor. And not to be a kiss-ass or anything, but I think you could do commissions if you had the time. You don't have to do "charity" work.

Yeah, if you're good at something don't do it for free, you could easily make a bit of cash on the side with that quality of work.
But since we're the D&D group and thus immediate homeboys, do it for free if it interests you.
I'm sorely tempted to keep my COOL stat for my CP2020 character at minimum so I can say I'm 2 COOL [editline]28th March 2015[/editline] As a Fixer probably not the best decision
Very definitely want to get CoC 7th to play with my friends. $28 for a PDF though, hmmm [editline]28th March 2015[/editline] And there's that expanded character creation thing for another $23...
Looks like I'm playing a D&D5e game soon. I might build a Brawler Fighter because I've always wanted to punch things without having to be a Monk.
Unarmed Fighters have always had the potential to be more effect than Monks in combat anywho, no idea how it'd work in 5th mind.
At 3rd level you pick an archetype, one of the available is Brawler. So it helps spec it more towards hand-to-hand.
So playtesting is fun Nothing like a change of pace to finally get back to playing PF after literally months of not having done so, and not only that, but got to unwind by playing a CE croc skinwalker barbarian Literally my opening scene was going full Predator on four lycanthrope hunters. Probably one of the best one-person ambushes I've ever done. It was a thunderstorm, and they'd tracked me into this forest. I hid in some leaf litter, sorta botched my stealth check, but because of the rain they couldn't see shit either, so I was able to hide. Their two archer outriders horribly botched perception checks, one hurting his foot on a fallen branch, the other slipping into a mud puddle and blinding himself. The two other guys went to help their respective archers, and that's when I struck. Natural weapon builds at first level are fucking horrifying, let me tell you. Despite botching my surprise round, I still closed the distance, and boom, guy helping the archer in the puddle gets his throat torn out. Not even time to shout a warning. Said archer gets horribly mangled a few seconds later, but he manages to scream, and the other two notice me. The archer gets a shot off and hits me, while the other guy charges despite the fact he was caking himself because I was covered in pieces of his two friends. A round later, he's dead, the archer starts to flee, and I run him down. It was just perfect. We had randomly rolled it to be autumn, and the weather, and together with a few unlucky rolls it was just all perfect. And then I spent the rest of the time nearly burning down a town after getting found out, getting mauled on AoO's, then falling into a lake and swimming to safety just before my rage wore out and I passed out, then lay there for a few days before one of my skinwalker kin found me and saved me. It was really, really fun, just being able to RP something without consequences for the hell of it, especially since I can think of exactly zero other scenarios where I'd get to play someone even in the ballpark of chaotic evil.
