And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, a moment of silence for whomever what foolish enough to choose Elowin.
Near the end of the session, our GM described how the party bgot surrounded by smoke, then changed to a desert map with a bridge and a single NPC.
"Answer three questions or you die" He made it seem convincing enough for people to get players nervous, then goes "I did this to kill some time, see ya next week guys" and laughs :v:
I love my GM.
ask player whether he finished his character since we're about to play, he goes offline
the universe evidently does not want the low-level cyberpunk game to happen
I wanna sit in on this shit.
It's much less impressive in motion, honestly
It tends to be huge walls of exposition, several frantic minutes of rolling, and then fuck-abouty roleplaying, in no particular order
it has so far turned out into good stories but considering the whole thing is basically ad-libbed on my part about 75% of the time I'm not quite so sure if it's really that entertaining
also that's not counting the fact that action sessions don't happen that often, there's a lot more exploring/trading/talky sessions than ones where things explode (Unless there are eldar involved, whom at this point might as well just spontaneously combust in the presence of the PC's for all they've ever done)

clearly because a low-level cyberpunk game is a bad cyberpunk game
success in any cyberpunk game is measured in the amount and quality of explosions it contained
actually wait, that's for all games

Isn't it more fun when the explosions are infrequent? Then there's more excitement when one does happen.

how exciting they are factors into their quality

Maybe some people don't like playing the same 'supr silly high-level Commando remake pnp' every time. Variety is the spice of life and there are few games that do low-level stuff as well as Cyberpunk. So why play a system as a high-level game when the game is all about low level shootouts and high stakes hobo knife fights
[editline]25th April 2015[/editline]
CP2020's Friday Night Firefight combat system literally goes off of the FBI firefight statistics where untrained criminals trade shots in a dark alley until one of them catches a .38 into the knee.
Session 5 of XCOM UFOats defense, featuring [del]Dante from the Devil may Cry series[/del] accounting, paperwork, me finally getting my organizational shit together as a GM, and some covert operations!
April 1st, 2016. As pranks are being pulled in the barracks (one in particular involving a sectoid corpse and the shooting practice range), the commanders have their monthly chat with their ominous facially-obscured sponsors. It basically boiled down to 'good job' since, well, they've done a good job so far. They also take introductory calls from the commanders of their Russian and American counterparts, just touching base for now. Funding and maintenance and grey market dealings are concluded, and the three department heads bring the commanders up to speed with the new toys they have to play with.
On the research side of things, they've just finished investigating xeno-biology and now know enough about the atmospheric requirements of the aliens to construct a containment facility for any live aliens recovered. Newly-available thanks to human technology sharing is the possibility of laser weapons, using entirely 'home grown' technology so to speak. Rather expensive however, so next up on the research docket is some experimental warfare opportunities- basically supply channels and equipment for upgrades, new munitions, ways for the boys in manufacturing to improve on existing equipment.
On the manufacturing side of things, those same technology sharing initiatives have opened up new opportunities in conventional robotics (read: I wasn't prepared enough to introduce them during the first month), both from American companies. The first is a fully permissive license to the schematics of this thing, though modified and renamed by their engineering head based on the properties of plasma weapons that they've seen- more heavily armored, slightly less armed, and called a R.I.V.E.T., a remote infantry vehicle exo-tank. The second is a mail-order form for the Legged Squad Support System, aka AlphaDog or just LS3-Dog for our purposes, for helping carry gear or wounded on extended operations.
They've also got the ability to manufacture detection satellites and an uplink facility, but those are a bit too pricey for them to consider even ignoring their meager air power at present.
April 2nd, 2016. XCOM field agents operating in Turkey call in for more heavily-armed backup to help them follow up on some leads into suspected alien activity and collusion. A squad is assembled, equipped, and operation Patient King commences as they embark onto the long train ride to Istanbul.
April 3rd, 2016. Seek-1 arrives in Istanbul and makes contact with the senior field agent, James Baker. They catch eachother up to speed and split up- Baker will continue looking into the local police department, with the squad on short call if things go south. Seek-1 will go schmooze up a local council member who had family saved by previous XCOM operations, to make sure nothing untoward was happening. On the way, they spot what seems to be a small child in obscuring dress... with a plasma pistol poking out of their clothes.

They follow it into some alleys, and a suppressed firefight ensues in which they kill a pair of disguised Sectoids and encounter their first Thin Man, who manages to escape. They also accidentally shoot a dude in the street in the foot, though they patched him up and gave him some painkillers so it wasn't too bad. After tracking the Thin Man for a bit and waiting for recovery agents for the corpses they went on to meet the politician without anything else untoward happening.
I'm going to be running an Eclipse Phase game about space mercs. Heists, sabotage, assassinations, and shit like that. Decidedly not about Firewall and space lovecraft.
Times and dates are totally variable right now, so if you're interested just shoot me a message here or on steam.

I'm really digging the little battlescapes you make for these games.

Our SR game had three explosions in under a second. It could have been higher.

reminds me of one of those 'stupid shadowrun player party' things
GM: How many missiles were you keeping in the van?
Player: How many would fit?

Yeah, explosives are for drones IMO, as are flamethrowers.

A dwarforged. :v:
Has anyone played/run or is planning to run a Mutants and masterminds game? No idea how good the system is but a superhero game sounds fun.
Our group just got done with one. It's fun, though the lack of an HP system leaves a lot to be desired. It tends to devolve into just narrative rule of cool after a while as opposed to hard rules based combat. Characters can also be either stupid broken or borderline useless. Min-maxing is fairly easy to do, if time consuming, but might not fit with what you wanted to make thematically.
I found it enjoyable but fucking broken.
Last night my D&D party successfully killed a red dragon by making him land in front of the plot important character, at which point the rogue jumped on his back, making him boil red with rage and get his head stuck in a mine shaft while trying to kill the PIC(whom teleported out of the way) and shake the rogue off.
And since we're out of rations for the next few days of travel, I guess we'll be having dragon barbecue on the way.

We'll probably offload them as raw material in the dwarven settlement we're next to, or we'll find somebody that can make something out of his inedible body parts.
What does a dragon taste like, even? I figured the meat would be extremely lean and dry.

The character creation is by far the best part of the game, imo, it's very enjoyable because you can do all kinds of fun bullshit.
The actual, in game rules are complete and utter trash, though.

Like their cousins, chickens.

Depends on the type! Red dragon tastes like chicken and jalapeno.
Dragons taste like magic with a side dish of lizard.
Dragons have always struck me as more feline than anything else, scales aside.
