As long as stuff scales to the player's level so that they're always challenged then I don't think I'd have that much of a problem with god-level stuff. Could be interesting to play a campaign where you brush shoulders with demigods and gods that can still suffer major defeats (some even worse than death).
well that's exactly what Exalted is. just flawed as fuck, and filled with animu.
Theres that one story where the players played as demigods and stuff http://imgur.com/a/pnWYj#9jPhO2M
Party did it
successfully assaulted a fortress, captured it, then fought a traitor marine, an insanely powerful psyker, and a daemon, and once again only Rats needed to burn fate despite my best efforts to chip away at the rest of the party's vast reserve of fate points
still, almost everyone was in crit at the end of it, and the enemy psyker narrowly escaped (something like two wounds away from death before getting whisked away to safety) so all in all, not a total failure to challenge
Wrapping up two IC years of war, too. Now they've got something even more terrifying to deal with, though:
Planning a wedding.
Does anyone have suggestions on naming places for a campaign world? I tend to always end up just combining 2 words for a lot of things like "Sandswept Wastes" or something and it feels uncreative. Particularly cities/towns.

Random name generators are generally a great thing to use
Otherwise, just rip things off from the real world. I've gotten through three space-based games worth of planet naming by taking stuff after mythology, and real places (In no particular order, stuff like Solomon's Rest, Neon Vega, Dagon, Karma, Rubicon's Shore, Avernus, Acheron, etc etc)
Naming things after names is generally a safe bet, too. People love to name places after themselves.

Do what you do now, but then look up some Old English (or other old-ass language) for it.
Doing that for "Sandswept Wastes" got me "Weastenwents".
For extra credit, assign a language to each main region. Don't use it except for names of old things - cities, terrain features, maybe buildings or people that are hundreds of years old.

With a mount, too!
This isn't related to D&D but is there a P&P/Tabletop general on Facepunch? If not am I allowed to talk about other games in this thread?

Yes, this thread is for any P&P

Ah, ok cool.
I played a mission of Paranoia with my new group. We ended up decimating an entire sector of Alpha Complex with a tacnuke on accident, I made explosive bolas with a yo-yo and a thermos full of B3, hacked a comp node for my secret society, getting stuck in an elevator for 30 minutes which resulted in the death of two of my team, and destroying a illegal shop. All in all it went well.

If it weren't for a 40k-themed name generator, my Rogue Trader party's head of the Enginarium Maintenance Crew would never have been called Gaylord Kub
I have a long standing habit of pulling from the writer credits page on whatever RPG book I'm using whenever I need a name. Became a problem when I played with too many Wizards books and kept finding the same names over and over.

we should really just name the next one P&P general or something

You're the one that named this one, good going

B-but I had to do my lame 4th edition joke!

If I'm struggling to come up with a name for something and can't think of anything good I'll usually just hit some random keys on my keyboard then work in some vowels until it's readable. Works surprisingly well on the occasion I need to do that. It's best though for really ancient or more alien locales though in my opinion.

Just make sure to have some rhyme, reason, and cohesion between names. That way you won't end up with disgustingly unreadable names, like the celtic cities from Brytenwalda.

I bet you can't even pronounce Odhrán correctly
I bet you can't even pronounce Odhrán correctly
You probably picked the worst example to use because Odhran seems like a pretty recognizable name for a town or a city.

At least it's better than taking inspiration from Wales:

I was using it as an example because the d is silent
I was using it as an example because the d is silent
Eh whatever, unless you are using voice it wouldn't really matter to the players

I'm still thoroughly convinced Welsh was invented by someone rolling their face on a typewriter.
From what I understand Welsh makes more sense in Welsh.
And by that I mean that reading it written down is a terrible idea because they didn't even really try to associate some letters with how they're said in English.
I've been using the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure method of naming characters in my Dark Heresy campaign and it's been quite entertaining (for me at least). Some of the NPC's so far have been:
- Hewi Louis (A gang leader who robbed a clinic looking for a new drug)
- Dr. Molly Crue (Along with her associate Dr. Phil Goode)
- Arbites Officers Howlett and Sting
- A barkeep named Holly Oates (Whom is possibly a man-eater)
- A greaser gang with a strange seagull theme (A veritable flock, if you will)
- A psychopathic, cocaine-enhanced Elric Apton (With his girlfriend Layla)
As well as a number of others. I'm open to suggestions if you guys have them.
Anyone given Fabletop a try? I just found out about it today and it seems pretty interesting.

It is rather rules-light and seems quite easy to use. Could be worth trying a short little campaign out.

An off-his-meds crazy fisherman named Pat Bateman.

Leader of the Arbites, but of course.

Not sure if this is an 80's Music reference or an American Psycho thing but I'll keep it in mind. Crazy fisherman are always fun.
