Maybe he finally learned shields aint for pussies the hard way :v:
shields are demonstrably for pussies tho
The gameplay is very much inspired by how fucked up and brutal combat was historically. We're basically going for 'We are knights in the late 1200s' with small things adjusted. Religions are different, we're not in europe (but an effective analogue for fantasy), and our Knight Quest is to basically find the magical macguffin that is RUMORED to be able to save the world from the RUMORED return of the Death Lord, who could be best compared to Sauron in terms of power and scale of threat. As a group of wannabe knights (or in me and Trooper's cases, actual landed knights), obviously we jump on any opportunity to bring glory to our names. Of course, we all follow the code of Chivalry, even if interpreted differently per person, and we all do our knightly duties as well, such as leading small armies when our lords demand that of us and other things, but for the most part our main goal is to hunt down the ALLEGED Death Lord and stop him.
Best part? There's 7 of us and 4 spots on the kings guard.
Even better, there's no guarantee anyone is going to make it back alive. Hell If the rumor of the Death Lord coming back is true, then it'll take a miracle for any of us to be able to actually stop him.
BUT GOD DAMMIT IF WE SUCCEED WE WILL HAVE ALL OF THE GLORY AND THATS WHAT A KNIGHT STANDS FOR.
shields are demonstrably for pussies tho
shields have existed in some form for as long as combat has, and even now we use shields in our police forces and other areas
ya dont see that with dualies, cause they all die because they get stabbed to death!!!
ya dont see that with dualies, cause they all die because they get stabbed to death!!!
Nonsense, Russian army still teaches people to dual wield pistols. So clearly the practice is still alive!
So we played a game of Mekton as GMed by me and not Dwarfy. Where his game is ridiculous superrobot shenanigans, mine is a little more down to earth, where basic mechas are pretty much the hottest shit right now and all the armies field them.
I started them off in military school where I gave them the infodump they didn't need of their lives. It was literally like being back in highschool. Some idle chatter later and they head home for the day to return tomorrow for their first real live mecha combat, against each other (using paintball rounds).
The first two guys face off against each other fielding an infiltration recon mech (which was a little unfair to him since none of its toys were any use in a contained battle like that) and a midweight infantry mech. The midweight plastered the lightweight with a singe hit from a grenade after they played a game of chicken dancing around each other.
The second combat's where shit really went down. The heaviest mech against the lightest, where even a single hit from the heavy's weapons would paste the light one. Critchains were scored aplenty, culminating in:
Heavy: "What can I do?"
Me: "You can fire your gun or missiles. Your missiles are linked, and you can fire 1, 2 or all 3 of them in a single shot. One missile will be enough to overkill him."
Heavy: "I shoot all 3. Critchain, 33."
Light: "rip me now ill be covered in paint oh woe is me im so fucked rolling to dodge anyway aaand critchain 39 my turn now I shoot him a bunch get another armor bypassing hit and kick his ass."
Then the following day the school is raided by troops from a rival governmental force which is trying to keep a low profile but entirely failed to remove their government's logo from their guns for the operation. After a miniature mecha (still a bigass 8 foot tall robosuit) blasted through a wall as the 4 of them were running for the armory, one of them leaped onto the back of the suit and popped the hatch with some lockpicking, attempting to incapacitate the guy inside. Failing miserably, thanks to a critical failure. The others entered the armory at this time, and that's where we left off.
Exciting times all around.

ballistic shield + pistol reks dual pistols.
What if your body is the shield.
Then you get gun and protection.

so what you're saying is that shields are for pussies who consider practical things such as surviving more important than awesome things such as dual wielding and not being a pussy.
in other words: shields are for pussies

I'm always that player who plays a homosexual character of the same sex.
Although it rarely ever comes up in games so who gives a shit.

Dual wielding is objectively terrible, it consumes most of your feats for a fraction of the damage/accuracy you can get by two-handing.

Yeah, I know that, I just...wasn't expecting it, I guess? I don't know, I guess "never thought" was a pretty poor choice of words.
Dual wielding is objectively terrible, it consumes most of your feats for a fraction of the damage/accuracy you can get by two-handing.
unless you have magical weapons
Dual wielding is objectively terrible, it consumes most of your feats for a fraction of the damage/accuracy you can get by two-handing.
Dual wielding provides something like 300x the amount of style points you could ever possibly have while two-handing something. This is basic math, clearly dual wielding wins out.
Dual wielding is objectively terrible, it consumes most of your feats for a fraction of the damage/accuracy you can get by two-handing.
two-handing is for boring people and cheesers
two-weapon fighting is objectively the best for rolling huge mountains of dice and not giving a shit about people who bitch about optimizing
It's not a contest go with what seems like a neat idea
[editline]29th January 2015[/editline]
If you feel like you need to "win" at tabletop you need to reevaluate why you engage with the hobby.
Real men dual-wield zweihanders.

It's clearly a contest of how many swords you can hold at the same time, while still keeping the pointy ends in the direction of the enemy.
Anyone looking to play Savage Worlds: Weird Wars (preferably those who can play at 8pm -5 GMT on Saturdays)? I've got a small adventure (2-4 sessions probably) set up and I'm looking for players. I'm kind of debating on if I'll go past that 2-4 sessions as I kinda just want to get my feet wet with the system so don't expect anything too long term.
PM me if you want details
Alright butt butts, I need a 4th (at least) for my game using the Barbarians of Lemuria system (but in my own setting) in like a week or so. It's gonna be low magic, so no magic and no pilot classes, alchemists ok.

there are a lot of tengu, but usually refer to crow tengu. you're probably also thinking about the kappa.
