I'm okay with any setting, really.
Though I'd probably find it easier to get into fantasy than sci-fi.
What sort of fantasy? There's high fantasy, low fantasy, dark fantasy. All sorts, which one floats your boat? You'll probably end up getting told to play DnD or PF either way.

I don't think he's looking for anything specific, he'd just like to find someone who's looking for players, and doesn't mind those players being new.
The odds of you becoming anything exceptional is a million to one.
The Imperial Guard has a lot of millions.
And yet the PCs end up exceptional 99% of the time
Sometimes they can even take on spess mahreens
that was an eventful session
found the planet of the rave-aliens who communicate via weaponsfire, met a stryxis trader, huge encounter with a cursed sword that ate the psyker and summoned daemons and shit, the RT learned some stuff, and then the void master and the arch militant had it out on each other again
good stuff
huge encounter with a cursed sword that ate the psyker and summoned daemons and shit
Honestly the biggest surprise to me was the fact that I got sucked into the sword. I expected the harrowing mental images and emotions, that's par for the course with Psychometry in just about any media, and the daemons are kind of a given since it's 40k.(still didn't expect them to be prompted by psychometry for whatever reason but w/e)
But the sword trying to pull everyone in? That was unexpected. :v:
So I'm looking to get into WH40k, and bought Dark Heresy 2E. I think I'm learning I might have made a mistake in buying the rulebook. Regardless, are there any games running that could take a new guy in? I've got a small bit of knowledge, but so far the lore is pretty fascinating.
Also: Are the games you all are playing, online? Or are you meeting in real life? As I start to pay more attention to in-topic dialogue.
Reading shadowrun rules for the first time made my head hurt, I now get why some people have trouble finding players.

You made direct contact with something that was pretty obviously warp-tainted, then used a psychic power while holding it, did you honestly expect horrible things wouldn't happen?

No, like I said, literally the only part of it that I didn't expect in the least was the sword hoovering me in after the daemons were killed.

shadowrun doesn't seem very player friendly
or gm friendly
or spectator friendly
it doesn't seem very friendly at all really
Just roll lots of dice and BS through everything. When in doubt, have it take place somewhere beside Seattle.

It isn't friendly. But it's so very fun.

Yes, but you can do some hilarious things with it. Fire breathing spider bots, anime ninjas, playing cards as a lethal weapon and Splatoon characters are all perfectly within the rules.

it's for nerds only
it's for nerds only
good thing I'm a nerd then
but I actually enjoy dming shadowrun more than pathfinder, it's more relaxing, easier stats, easier combat and well I like the setting more.

anything's easier than pathfinder

I joined an Only War game, and we spent 4 hours making jokes about wheat after I introduced my character saying "My name is Russel Gillmer, assistant-proprietor of Gillmer Wheat, and I sell Wheat and Wheat by-products." because he was a farmer before he was press ganged into the war effort.
You guys know where to find good PC/NPC art for modern day settings (modern day, specifically, being in the early 2000s)? Everytime I try to google image stuff I either find like bootiful supermodels or hideously ugly people, never anything between those.

Snip this before Ciaster sees, please. He'll have a heart attack from excitement.
anything's easier than pathfinder
Compared to a lot of systems, Pathfinder is super easy to use. Like, I can rush a decent character out in about 10 minutes if I'm not required to have a backstory and combat takes like a minute for my turn at most.

Here's a handy Minus gallery, although it's worth noting this dude mostly puts shit in it under the assumption it'll be used for nWoD games, hence there's some obvious vampires, fairies, and techno-organic things(Though the fairies and techno-organisms are mostly stuck into Changeling and Demons, respectively).

Tumblr is actually pretty good for that kind of thing.

Hmm...what search words should I use when going there? I know tumblr has a lot of stuff but I wasn't exactly sure what to search for.

All right, I'll take your word for it. But if this is some kind of clever ruse...

Just whatever kinda style/subculture you're looking for.
So two of the characters from a group I play in had to leave for a while... they came back a week later with literally a 10 page long booklet describing what their characters did while they were gone. It's the closest thing I've ever seen to D&D fanfic.
