and re enable crosshairs? there are some things wrong with the mod there's no muzzle flash in iron sight mode which makes me want to use it less and the fucking goggles completely overlay the hud so you can't even see it
I have high hopes for arma 3. With the improved anims (and some tactical gimmicks like turning onto your back to shoot from prone), the promise of better ai in cqc and all buildings being enterable from (sadly probably mostly relatively small) airport terminals to hospitals and houses could make arma 3 ultimate tactical shooter if they really nail the close combat aspect as well as they have handled the long distance combat.
Oh man, SWAT4, is awesome.
so no one knows how to turn the visor off in RVS 2.0?
so is Ground Branch not gonna happen? because it looked amazing surely they can find someone to publish it for them that wouldn't fuck it up, it seems like they've already put a lot of effort into it
http://groundbranch.com/
First of all, thank you to everyone who contributed towards the Kickstarter campaign; either by financial means, or by word of mouth. If anything, at least you are are now aware that there is a studio out there that is attempting to bring back a style of game and a mentality that has been long absent from the PC gaming scene. Every person counts, and we are glad to have reached so many new people through this campaign. Do not be discouraged! Continue to spread the word about our game, to anyone who may be interested. The more people that are interested in such a game, the more likely the chance that we can be successful in the future. I want to personally thank Chris (Sidestrafe) for giving us a few honorable mentions. If you don’t follow this guy’s YouTube channel, please do so; he’s a great game commentator, and when we plan to show more in the future, we will definitely ask for his help. Thanks to all of the cool journalists that covered us (Mike at Joystiq, Adam at RPS et cetera); continue to follow those sites and thank those guys for giving us a fighting chance. It’s going to be an uphill battle from here, but we’d love to keep you in the loop for further developments. We are currently in talks with a party that could potentially help us get published, but we can’t speak about it just yet. We are also working with a new programmer, and should have some interesting things to show soon. Either way, we’re going to continue working on the game to our best abilities, and will release new videos when we can. For now, we’re going to take a small break to regain some of our sanity. Please, join our forums and keep in touch. We will be contacting you guys the second we have more information and videos to show you. I hope you’ve enjoyed what we’ve shown so far, and will stick around to see more. Thanks again to everyone who backed us, regardless of the outcome. We won’t forget you. Continue to support cool, niche Kickstarter projects, and please continue to follow us. BlackFoot Studios
Yeah, RVS 2.0 isn't really everything you'd ever dream of. It's good to have I guess. Don't know how to help you with your issues FoodStuffs, and from what I can see their site is currently down. :/ Anyways, 5 games, 8 game manuals, and one huge ass Prima Strategy Guide that's literally like 600 pages. All for 20 bucks, it's used but everything looks brand new. Get at me. I'm basically set for the next year, forget work and all that. Forget friends, man. I love the guy who sold me this. I'm seriously thinking about giving him ten extra bucks just for the hell of it. Best thing I've ever bought in my life.
Those were the days, man. Have fun! I almost miss PC games coming in boxes now. The PC section at gamestop has just become the Blizzard section.
Those were the days, man. Have fun! I almost miss PC games coming in boxes now. The PC section at gamestop has just become the Blizzard section.
Yeah, I know man. This is seriously the sweetest feeling of nostalgia haha. I'm thinking I'll hold onto all these pretty cases and booklets and stuff for as long as I can.
if they halved strafe speed and turned jumping into climbing/mantling counter strike would be an actual tactical multiplayer game
if they halved strafe speed and turned jumping into climbing/mantling counter strike would be an actual tactical multiplayer game
Haha I think the same thing all the time actually. Like... the main menu art and the music that plays make it seems like it's a legit tactical shooter. Plus the fact that it's CTs vs Ts and there can be hostages/bombs involved. Oh and they'd need a lean function!!
well actually it's called raven shield multiplayer.
i don't know dude, raven shield's adversarial stuff is pretty awful because everybody runs around with the famas because of its high rate of fire and on they just slap the acog scope on top of that so they can run around while zoomed in and dump entire 30 round mags down range and not miss a beat. raven shield's adversarial modes are as competitive as unreal tournament. it's a pretty high octane game. that's just how it's always going to be too in the world of player versus player. it's very very hard to make a game where both teams have to slow down and take a tacticool approach to everything because players prefer to play TDM more than game modes that have a purpose to them or a set of objectives with that being said every tactical game has had co-op involved with it because the only reason people play tactical games in co-op is to BE tactical. you just can't hop in to an adversarial RVS server with a team of guys and say "ok we need a rear guard." what the hell do you need a rear guard for? he's going to be the most useless guy in a pissing match and will probably the first to die because he'll get blown up in a frontal assault meanwhile in co-op you have guys equipped with different pieces of gear for every different situation just in case it happens because you never know
but seriously if they did that or at least made some mod that put in those two parameters, maybe leaning, the game would be so much more awesome than it is now. like i play servers (no awp/auto for starters) that most the time the people play like that. they don't dance around jumping and strafing everywhere, they fire, take cover, return fire, rinse and repeat maybe throw a smoke/flash/frag every once in a while. it's actually pretty cool because there's hardly any dancing and you need to be much more tactical on these servers. also once you learn how to use the smoke grenade right the game gets way more fun, especially in office. Really thinking about it CSS and CS are tactical games if you play on the right servers with the right people. it's actually really noticeable because if everyone plays like how shit would really go down my k/d skyrockets because i play tactically no matter what. and if everyone is dancing around like an idiot my k/d is generally pretty low.
actually if you play counter strike global offensive it's really geared towards much more slower forms of gameplay too. even the fast game modes start off as a mess and then once bodies start to drop everybody rears back and finds their bearings so they can complete the objective at hand without getting too many losses

Think you could give me a name or two of the servers you play on?

Hah it's all good man, thanks! Maybe I'll catch you on sometime.
Wasn't there another Raven Shield mod that was going to include 3d iron sights and stuff like that?
Wasn't there another Raven Shield mod that was going to include 3d iron sights and stuff like that?
too ambitious
dood i fuken palyd COD ytserday wtf tatcital shoters arent dead lol
i think its kinda funny when someone raised the prospect of "3d iron sights" for a rather old game it's instantly "too ambitious" while now almost every game if it's remotely claiming to be a military sim it has 3d iron sights, just shows how far we've gone
On an actual note, are there any of these games that would work on a really, really bad computer?
On an actual note, are there any of these games that would work on a really, really bad computer?
how bad? swat 3 probably, and imo swat 3 tops pretty much every tactical game [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] ghost recon [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] hidden & dangerous 2
ati x1200 integrated, 512 mb, and no opengl drivers whatsoever.
actually now that i think about it, hidden & dangerous 2 has more substance than ANY other ww2 game and there needs to be a third one so bad go get the saber squadron demo of hidden & dangerous 2. best level in the entire expansion imo
whenever i play HnD2 with friends the AI is somehow god like and we just resort to charging and respawning
that's what makes it so good [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] it's like afrika korps on sven co-op except the bad guys die in one-two shots instead of two hundred bullets
ati x1200 integrated, 512 mb, and no opengl drivers whatsoever.
Maybe? lol... I'm not sure, but I'm almost positive you'd still be able to run any of the old Rainbow Six games (pre-Lockdown) and even the classic Ghost Recon games, SWAT 3 too. PM me actually so we could probably test this out. What OS are you on? Anyways, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one missing these tactical games. Sure they're not as popular and the market's declining and changing drastically, but it's good to know you're not alone.
Apologies for the necro bump, but this is pretty much the only thread that Ground Branch was mentioned in. Blackfoot Studios finally released a sort of tech preview for free and is on the way to early access. It's not much, but there is some highly customizable loadouts you can mess around with. You can basically choose a tactical vest/chest rig/body armor and choose what kind of ammo pouch or grenade you want to attach to certain PALS webbing points. There's a training range and a couple of maps where you can run around, mess with the guns and weapon positions, and admire the scenery. It's taken a while, but the team has only been like 2 people working on their spare time. Now that they've switched to UE4, development has gone more smoothly and things are picking up. damn forgot about that game, so cool to see it's coming along still
