I'm talking about the environment and general atmosphere.
Dude, what? League's environment consists entirely of grassy plains with trees. Only half of Dota's map is that, so by technical standards Dota is darker than LoL.
[editline]16th May 2013[/editline]
honestly, how are they darker than dota? not even the towers are. LoL doesn't have any characters that compare to lifestealer, lich, bane, bloodseeker, death prophet, outworld, pudge
they're cartoony as hell
edit: and i wouldn't say the atmosphere is either. like i said, the creeps are cartoony, the rosh equivalent is cartoony, the textures are cartoony. i would say the map is darker, yes, but not as in atmosphere, just as in the color is darker
LoL has some pretty okay designs that I wouldn't mind seeing in Dota's style to be honest.
Armor on a ghost with oversized blades attached and the no-pupil-glowing-eyes that all the MOBAs have too much of.
yeah no.
also there's plenty of grimdark on the dire side and nighttime.

yeah exactly too many glowing eyes.
at least the weapon is ghostly and doesn't look like i's heavier than the character itself.

Is like Spectre stole Nyx armor.

How can it not be heavier when they're ghost-like beings? :v:
How can it not be heavier when they're ghost-like beings? :v:
because the weapon is ghost-like itself

it's really not anymore
Huh, never realized that for some reason.
Edit: And that could be why.
Oh yeah they made it look worse, silly and even more unfinished/old than the original.
not gonna defend that one.
edit: Still, Nocturne's design is too much for Dota, they're going further from Warcraft and more towards something like TES (with a mix of TF2-reminding cartoony elements), that keep fantasy elements but don't overdo it. Yeah, Sven has a sword bigger than himself, but it doesn't have chains, buckles, rings or gems inserted all over the place, it looks practical . at lest that's how i see it.
i still think pudge is the scariest hero in the game, just his design and how realistic he is. also OD is emotionally draining in a frightening way at times
If we are on this topic.
Mordekaiser for Dota 2! Mordekaiser for Dota 2!
LoL has some pretty okay designs that I wouldn't mind seeing in Dota's style to be honest.
The irony is Nocturne is significantly based upon Spectre (Duskbringer acts similarly to Spectral Dagger except it's not targeted and Paranoia acts somewhat similarly to Haunt).
Mordekaiser for Dota 2! Mordekaiser for Dota 2!
Good lord no. Children of the Grave would be broken beyond belief in Dota.
The one and only champion which would be fucking awesome in Dota and I think we all can agree on this one.

I didn't mean 100% copy.
1. Too easy.
2. Law suit prone
3. I just want hulking living armor hero.
How to I judge what items to get? Or when to get them? I'm bad as fuck at item builds. How do I do this shit?

Are you playing Slark, Bounty Hunter, or any hero that suggests Vanguard aside from Axe and Dark Seer?
If yes: ask forum
If no: follow recommended item build
Alternatively: Ask about what heroes to build because I doubt anyone will list 100 item builds.
Razor?
Close, he's a revenant, but he ain't "hulking".

Warcraft III had those.

now that i look at it its kind of out of date, hasn't been updated with bristle/skywrath/titan

General rule of thumb: Look at what the hero is meant to do, then look at what items enhance that. Battlefury is bad on Bounty for example because he doesn't utilise the cleave and it doesn't increase his ganking potential.
I can't find OD intimidating cause of his tiny donkey legs.
the scariest hero is undoubtably sniper
you die from a large gunshot out of fucking nowhere and all you see is that grin staring into your soul
i love playing OD against sniper, every time OD banishes himself from harms way i can imagine him tanning at an obsidian planet's beach sipping on a margherita with elevator music playing in the background until he returns

Theres no battle golem hero yet though.
Revenant was your closest bet.

A lot of those builds are kind of bad.

If you stare long enough into the grin, the grin stares back.

I said Warcraft III, not DotA (1). Given that Icy is still very much WCIII engine man and he used up Frost Wyrm, Legion Commander and Gnoll, Iron Golem could be next. There is problem however, given that Flesh Golem model, that is very much like Iron Golem/Battle Golem (just fleshier) is Dirge's Ultimate form.
I probably sound like a broken record with stuffing "hulking armor hero" everywhere I can. It's my archetype favourite I guess, or at least close to it.
What's your guys archetype favourites ? I am talking big treants, succubus, ghost, berserker, etc, kind of thing. Dota does have quite unique stuff to it, but you can still kind of make out archetypes for most heroes.

I liked the entire idea of Garithos in wc3.

I don't see how that's a problem. Flesh and Armor Golems looked very different and only had the same shape, while still being very distinguishable from each other.
