hey as long as your team's got 4man potential it's almost too easy when the spectre player can farm
I'd still rather have Void/Medusa then, because in a pinch those ults are awesome and Medusa's fucking Snake is godlike in lane.
Spectre has the lane prescence of a ranged creep. It doesn't matter in the slightest though because Dispersion is an astonishingly good skill. On any other hero it would be OP. Spectre has to have a meh nuke and low stat gain because goddamn Dispersion is game winning.
Don't get me wrong I fully agree Dispersion is utterly insane. My problem comes with the fact the rest of her is so utterly mediocre until she's heavily farmed that overall I'd rather have literally any other carry.
Spectre, imo, is a garbage carry. Has no lane presence whatsoever, no nuke, no crowd control, no escape, no flashfarming ability and needs a ton of farm to be effective. Even Medusa/Void can contribute earlygame.
I wouldn't call pub game statistics reliable.
nobody in pubs can play AM, i dont know what it is, probably the ring of health rush combined with the amount of press he gets in dota media and people just pick him thinking he is this awesome insta-win hero
I play AM in pubs a lot, and he's a hell of a lot of fun when you get a good lane.

Problem being those are the three hardest carries in the game :v:
Yes but I don't see why you would. Spectre, imo, is a garbage carry. Has no lane presence whatsoever, no nuke, no crowd control, no escape, no flashfarming ability and needs a ton of farm to be effective. Even Medusa/Void can contribute earlygame.
She has the worst lane presence in the game, but her mid-game is insanity.
spectre's all about midgame participation for me. once she gets a diffusal and level 4 dispersion, she cleans up pretty well
her kill potential in lane is almost non-existent, but at the same time medusa has no defensive potential. i'd say its a fair trade-off to ensure safe farm

Pub statistics are meaningless. Look at some of the other low winrates. Storm Spirit, Batrider, Queen of Pain, Puck etc. There's tons of good heroes on a sub-50% winrate.

Like I said, once farmed she's SICK. Personally I rank Dispersion as being one of the best skills in the entire game. Problem is that she can't do anything without farm, has no way to flashfarm and no way to properly escape either. AM, Void and Medusa (to name 3 other powerful carries) all have either an escape, a way to flashfarm or a way to be relevant early on.
"no escape" haha i didn't even notice this what the fuck buffalo
"no escape" haha i didn't even notice this what the fuck buffalo
No way to properly escape. Running into trees on your own movement speed hardly counts as a proper escape compared to for example AM's Blink or Void's Timewalk.
spectre has more of an escape than medusa does
No way to properly escape. Running into trees on your own movement speed hardly counts as a proper escape compared to for example AM's Blink or Void's Timewalk.
um... how not?
idgi just because it's an escape based around a hero's movement speed instead of a blink or something doesn't nullify it from being a "proper escape" lol. and you can still use her ult as an escape in some situations, so.
Anyone got some tips for moving into playing more aggressive heroes from constant supports? So far all I've played is Disruptor (which I fucking love and have buttloads of fun), Ursa, Lich, Bloodseeker, and Witch Doctor, which are all very support except BS and Ursa, but I want to vary my game up with some other styles. I tried playing Slark but I just felt incredibly out of my depth when it came to item builds / when to go invis etc.

shadow demon takes a bit of practice but i'd still call him one of the most aggressive supports in the game

you're still going to get away i don't see what the big deal is
Shadow Shaman and Rubick are great aggressive supports too.
shadow shaman is one of the most scary supports sometimes
One day I am gonna build blink dagger on OD, and it's gonna work and people are gonna be like, "I am sorry I said it was a bad idea, having a 4 second disable you can use on yourself to get your damage CD off to blink out of every situation is actually very useful."
shadow shaman is one of the most scary supports sometimes
well yes he has a total disabling time of 8.25 seconds and that's if he doesn't feel like blowing wards for a wardtrap
[editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
around 8 seconds where you can't do shit and you just die helplessly
[editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
the only longer total disable i know of is bane's but fiend's grip has a massive cooldown compared to rhasta's stuff

And god help you if he put those wards down BEFORE disabling you for so long. I once played Shadow Shaman with an Earthshaker on my team, we could lock 1 guy down for a total of 25-30 seconds or so if we timed it perfectly. :v:
I dont know why we dont see shadow shaman in the metagame anymore
imagine a team with bane, rhasta, and lion on it
ultimate fun
I'm really curious as to why he's not really picked in comp matches. I thought the current meta is aggression and ganks, and Shaman is like the perfect trilane member.

Sounds effective; wonder why it's not in his recommendeds? It sounds similar to the Orb-Shift-Jaunt/Blink Dagger strategy on Puck.

Slow, squishy, manahog and Shackles is channeled.
and don't forget your offlane clockwerk
Game was getting stale because of the enemy having a tinker. My whole team was sitting on the mid tier 3 tower, Notice something is teleporting to one of the enemy creeps, so I sit next to it and wait to stun, hoof stomp landed the exact second tinker appeared, followed by a storm of nukes
Too bad that the other times he would blink the exact second the channel ended
Sounds effective; wonder why it's not in his recommendeds? It sounds similar to the Orb-Shift-Jaunt/Blink Dagger strategy on Puck.
because he is so reliant on stats, people usually opt to go force staff so theres no need to imprison when you push yourself out the way. force staff instead of a blink (which actives gives him what he needs) gives him 110 damage on his ult and 20 on his orb, and having both is redundant
