Mek is great on beastmaster actually, armor and regen aura for your boar and you, problem is Bm mana pool is shit, BUT with some item that grants int like necronomicom and if nobody else is willing to carry it, why not?
Clockwerk isn't a bad mek carrier either, the armor is great on him

valve suggests bfury on bounty hunter, and vanguard on naga, so clearly those are safe, reliable choices
vanguard is an item that only gives survivability, no sort of supportive effect that complements the hero on a whole (i.e. beastmaster and clockwerk, since they both have skillsets with a ton of utility)
