Yeah the intro into high is a bit rough, but you'll get used to it. For reason when i started playing High I always got terrible team mates.

That's probably because (as far as I can tell) there are tiers within the tiers. So the bottom of high is more like the middle of low while the top of low isn't all that bad.
Think about it. Typical people who 'live' in the bottom of high are;

Before I went on my 50 days without dota, I usually got matched into high. After warming up a bit, I q'd with my friend and we got put in very high. I did fine so brackets probably have somewhat an overlap.
