He's just this massive artillery cannon that does to much damage with little to no risk if you're decent with position. I had a shitton of fun building a Mek on him too. He doesn't have any innate tank besides Strength gain so I don't know why you would build him as such. You can, but he takes advantage of so many other items. You can't get massively ahead of elder titan every game, nor can you land a double ult every single fight. Mek is a survivability item, so go nuts and have all the fun you want building mek on elder titan. And he has shit strength gain, thats why you need to make him tanky

Just look at that - you are essentially making the entire enemy team completely squishy, It's a free desolator, assault cuirass, maxed Slardar Ult and Wave of Terror to agility carries, and turns magical damage into pure damage to anyone who isnt meepo, pudge, rubick, someone next to rubick or something with a cloak/hood/pipe. In any realistic situation where you are playing against players who know what they are doing, you will die first every single fight. Every single fight you will get bursted down so you are simply just not there to reduce everyones armor and magic resistance completely, because that aura, albeit so small, is simply the best debuff aura in the game. Your job as elder titan apart from getting a good ultimate off is to just stand there for as long as possible and make the enemy team weak while doing a bit of damage yourself from the spirit form/damage buff along with whatever items you have. If the enemy team cannot kill you, they're going to have a hard time fighting your entire team without magic resistance or armor

the reason why im highlighting it is because it is the sole purpose of why you need to build him durable
his aura is only there for as long as you are alive, so if you dont build tanky, you die instantly, if you're spending your entirety of the fight keeping distance and ulting twice, then your aura is completely wasted, and your sleep/spirit do shit all in the late game where your aura is most effective
if i just say you build him tanky cause of no reason, then why bother? its like those guides that tell you to build items and dont explain why, you're not going to learn anything
I always build Arcanes/Pipe/Shiva's/AC/Heart on Titan, he deals a TON of damage and allows your team to deal a ton of damage so you need to be tanky enough to enable that.
All you gotta do is build tanky and stand there. his aura is nuts

It's kinda overly aggressive to rush it immediately after Arcane's but it's just an unparalleled pickup on him. Shiva's also lets him spirit eternally and is pretty cheap besides the mystic staff, plus the 40% movement speed and passive attack speed slow is a beautiful compliment to your already crippling aura
