If you play Riki and rely 100% on invisibility instead of positioning you are doing it wrong.
Riki has extremely high early game damage, and if the enemy is slowed they might as well be dead (if they turn around they will most likely die depending on what the situation is, but why would you go in for a kill when they can turn around and kill you?)
Also cloud and good escape.

It's not that you're a savant it's that in most pubs players don't even know about denying.

I usually get the frost blast at level 2 and don't upgrade till later.
Yeah it's a nuke, but the attack speed and slow is really good early and late.
If my team is mana dependent like axe or lone druid, I usually get the mana thing up to 2, then everyone has at least 2 mana regen per second and work my way with frostbite and the nova.
Unless the team doesn't focus me down, I usually get the ult at level 10 and 11.
I know it sounds dumb, but this has really worked before, don't do this if you are gonna carry CM and I've done a carry CM before with an omniknight.

The people who pick carries are always so incompetent it would be more effective for me to simply play another carry and try and outfarm my opponent anyway

playing support: you are the playmaker from minute 1, have gigantic early game power and basically dictate how the entire match goes until your carries come online
playing carry: you hope to god the rest of your team is competent so you can sit in lane for 20 minutes playing what is essentially a rhythm game to catch up to everyone else
i seriously don't understand why there is this weird concept that supports are some passive, weak type of hero that have to sit helplessly by while hoping their carries win for them.
the only problems i run into playing support is that if it's not my friend playing it the carry player will sometimes fail to take advantage of their space to farm, and/or build dumbass items

Yea since the return damage of blademail is Pure, so reductions wont do shit. Also play him he is fun and easy just follow the Huskar Guide 101
