I've been having a bit of an issue with sound mods lately: They always come out really distorted in game and sound horrible, but they sound find outside of dota. How can I fix this? Is there a specific format Valve uses?

If it helps, the NBA Jam Announcer sounds absolutely fine but my custom sound mods don't.
So, I've noticed since Doom got his "need for speed" treat via Aghanim and Necrolyte's Agha introduced some fresh approach, how are people feeling about current Aghanim upgrades, let's say on heroes like Luna or Faceless Void ? Generally a bit "boring" upgrades.
We still have plenty guys to Agha-up, but given recent trend to make Agha be a bit more than " +Damage on ult damage" and more an actual new mechanic introduced to spell, how's people's feedback in general?
I want Agh's for Gondar, increasing bonus gold for allies and self, as well as the old -3 armor.
Also Agh's upgrade for Centaur, allowing him to trample through trees, which would make his initiation a lot like Tusk's snowball.

Do we really want to encourage hardcarries to pick up aghs, though?
what else, what else..

Agh's for Troll Warlord: increases duration while decreasing cooldown, might be cool.
Also, Whirling Axes no longer instant cast :( but that won't change
Treant Protector - puts current level of Leech Seed on each affected target?

you are aware of how much absurd healing that would be right

I thought of one for Void
What if he automatically activated chrono (outside of its CD, so if he uses it, it won't go on CD, and it doesn't need to be off CD for this to happen) if he automatically gets below a certain amount of HP?
Someone suggested that a few pages ago
Leech Seed with reduced healing on all enemy heroes, Living Armor on all nearby allies
Ran Skeleton King as a support yesterday... Pretty good.
shadow demon > all carries
i told my friend about aghs night stalker and he thought it was a hack/glitch and went 7/0/0 in the first 15 minutes

check their frequency in audacity. try to replicate the same frequency as the nba jam announcer sounds

He didn't have an Aghanims at 15 mins, did he..?
My god people are incompetent
First a timber goes safelane for some reason when there's already me (as treant) and alchimist there
of course he goes on to contest farm but in the end that was good since the alchi was shit anyway (first item was a shadow blade at 25 minutes. The enemy had a bounty hunter)
Last pick was a windrunner, went offlane and complained 2 minutes in the game about "lost lane freefarm gg" so i had to walk over there and help is ass (he had wards in his inv all the time) naturally he stands out of xp range doing nothing so we end up feeding
dota giveth and taketh away
He didn't have an Aghanims at 15 mins, did he..?
sorry that was worded shitty, he went 7/0/0 in the first night, got aghs at 15 minutes, then thought he was cheating
Well Aghanim's on Nightstalker is nicknamed "the legal maphack" so he's not far off. :v:
2day i played lich

i had like 8k leftover endgame so i spent about 2 seconds thinking of the least useful item in the game as the ancient went down and this happened i dunno

Ok wow, Timbersaw is ridiculously strong now.
Would anyone please explain to me the use of the term "core" in comp scene? I seem to be hearing it alot more as of late for example a "dual core" lineup
Do we really want to encourage hardcarries to pick up aghs, though?
It sure has to be a potential pickup.
Notice how Viper, who's treated as somewhat decent carry, can aquire Aghanim for either uber-ganking mode, with his Ultimate becoming basically spammable, or harassment purposses and catching people off-position during siege.
Idea for Aghanim upgrade is simple and great :
Change/Upgrade a certain aspect of given hero to either alter/enhance that department of theirs.
I am actually a bit sad that a lot of current Agha upgrades are basically "+1" without any other perverted/ridiculous change, not for sake of absurd gameplay, but for sake of alternative role type, rather than straight-up upgrade or tweak.
For example people really like Invoker's Aghanim Upgrade. Instead of 5 seconds, it becomes 2 second cooldown. It's really neat because it allows Invoker to burst through his arsenal in 16 seconds (10x2 - 2x2 <already equipped spells) rather than 50-40 seconds. It's smart, simple and does influence his gameplay. For example Aghanim-less Invoker will focus on more active-use items and general right-clicking because he'll have plenty of time between invocations.
Now, Meepo. Awesome upgrade, +1 Meepo and 100% Stat sharing. Can a Meepo play with Agha and be happy with it ? Of course, he gets 1 more poof/net, 1 more stack of geostrike, etc, and on top of that, he becomes tankier (Agha stats) and all other Meepos become tankier too!
Can Meepo skip Aghanim ? And here's the problem - why? Why would Meepo skip Aghanim scepter ? Without it he has less units, which might sound like "easier" or "more focused" path, but each Meepo is created to synergise with more Meepos, the more the better. Even worse, without it he has little benefit from actual stat-providing items as 1/4th of his units will get proper benefit from it.
Very similar problem lies with Aghanims of heroes like Lina, Lion, Sand King, Beastmaster, Venomancer, Brewmaster. +Range ! +Damage! Decreased cooldown! Candies! Beer! Disneyland!
Sure, some heroes might struggle to get Aghanim Scepter and it might seem fair for them to have it as a "Now it's on" kind of item, but in the end it changes little. Lion and Brewmaster kinda deserve some credit here due to Lion's scary 20 seconds cooldown and Brew's cool crits&dodges, but in the end it's just powerful upgrade to their signature move, which while disputable (especialle in case of Lion) wether it is their most important ability at all times, generally it is perceived as such, not just in general, but also by the players. Argue all you want, we all like to blow our ultimates in as big of a bang as possible.

Usually "core" reffers to the items that are most imporant for given hero and usually built as quick as possible to ensure proper use of hero's capabilities.
For example one could consider upgraded boots + Armlet core on Lifestealer or Blink Dagger on Earthshaker/Tidehunter.
"Dual core" sounds like team's focus on given heroes. It's my guess, so treat is as you want, but I'd say if someone says "Dual core lineup" they mean that 2 heroes in the given lineup are going to be the focal points of team's resources and plays.

Thankyou, I think what you've said here is right. All of a sudden I'm hearing alot of casters use this term and I wasn't really sure whether it is effective in description, it doesn't sound to be, but thankyou anyway
There needs to be a limit on Agh's upgrades, though. I kind of like that there isn't an upgrade for everyone because it's boring if seven of the ten people in a match are building the exact same item.
[editline]25th June 2013[/editline]
By limit I mean make them situational, not must-have improvements.
Ok wow, Timbersaw is ridiculously strong now.
He's always been strong if played well, now he's even stronger and people are starting to realize it.
He's always been strong if played well, now he's even stronger and people are starting to realize it.
I know, but his ult buff, his stat buff and his indirect buff by buffing Bloodstone has made him a nuke launch platform.
Since the solo queue option came around I've found dota to be so much more enjoyable. Good games all round mostly.
dual core basically means you have two farmers.
the more common phrase is tri-core, which is basically one farming hero in each lane. so something like an offlane weaver, TA mid and gyro safelane, with the 2 supports. basically you have 3 moderately farmed heroes in comparison to 4 protect 1's super farmed antimage or something
edit: i need to f5 more often
So what was in that recent update?
