If your opponent is retarded enough to stand in hook range and is squishy as fuck, you can easily win a lane as Pudge. I don't care if you're not expected to, it's pretty common. :v:

It's the exact opposite though. Late game having that cleave to instantly clear waves and kill several people in a teamfight at the same time is indispensable. Attack speed's effectiveness is reduced the more you have, and having just a Butterfly and the agility from your stats at level 25 is more than enough attack speed for most carries.

But either way, if it's 25+ minutes in and you don't have either those are not what you want, most of their effectiveness comes in the form of farming. Both scare poorly compared to something like a Daedalus or Butterfly. Only time you want one that late is to deal with a Phantom Lancer or something.
