I think what he's just saying, some people don't care about value and only care about the items/heroes they like...
Anyone else having an extremely long time to finding a match on US East server? its been like 10 minutes and not a match has been found yet.

I play on US East and US west, always takes me 5 to 10 minutes on solo queue.
10% crit chance + completely random stun duration.
Bad design.
Yes, because all those illusions can fucking crit with him with full damage.
He's fucking CHAOS Knight, it's a gimmick and makes the game more interesting. Randomness is one of the things that makes DOTA so interesting; if you knew the outcome of every fight in the game every time then that'd be boring as fuck to play and watch.

It usually only takes me 2 minutes, max.
Does anything happen if you get correct predictions or is it just for fun?
Knowing Valve there will probably be a "simple" item reward that may or may not end up like the Golden Roshan. v:v:v

Maybe a glow added to the courier based on the points you get.

hey
what if
people don't care about trading
and just trade items they like?????

I need a compendium asap, the western predictions end in like 9 hours. :(
Or maybe you can unlock more Smeevil cosmetics if you get good predictions
I need a compendium asap, the western predictions end in like 9 hours. :(
I'd need to buy a new one from the item shop, if you have a really good offer I could consider that
When do the qualifiers start anyway? They'll be watchable and count for views, right?

They start Monday at 13:00 CEST, and watching them live will count views for the Smeevil, you also need the Compendium for qualifiers item drops.
Is there any way to watch them live NOT in the dota 2 client, and still get items/smeevil viewcount for it? I'll be away from my computer for a whole week.
no
they really need to make a YouTube or Twitch integration so people who can't watch games from their gaming PC can at least get drops/views from watching it live.
I decided EG 1st, mouz 2nd on west, LGD 1st, vici 2nd on east.
this sounds similar to what I'd say
I'm still shaky on the 2nd western team
was thinking empire but they've been playing like shit and are clearly not comfortable as a team yet
maybe dd but I haven't seen them play
[editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
also twitch needs to make an app for "smart" TVs. would make watching dota so nice

You can always get Dota 2 client on whatever piece of hardware that supports steam you have, get CFG for absolutely the lowest settings and just use it to watch.
You should be able to watch the replays in Dota 2 and have them count.
Also, can anyone watch the qualifiers like the international or is there a ticket I need to buy? I've never actually watched tournament games, and the compendium is giving me a good reason to start doing so.

all the games are free, even if you don't have dota through the spectator client
compendium gives you battle points, a courier, an interactive book, and supports the scene

I can't install Steam on my work PC, but I can easily watch stuff on Twitch/YouTube.

Watching the replays will work.
Outharassing Kunkka as Elder Titan and subsequently rushing an eighteen-minute AC is pretty nice.
After a year of on-and-off play of this game, I finally reached 100 wins. I feel like I'm starting to suck less.
Korok's Slark has got to be the most entertaining hero to watch
He just makes the teamfights amazing by extension

Woah there Jethro.
Let's back that wagon on up before some redskins scalp us at the creek.
"Supply and Demand":
Supply, Noun, the quantities of goods or services offered for sale at a particular time or at one price
Demand, Noun,
a : willingness and ability to purchase a commodity or service <the demand for quality day care>
b : the quantity of a commodity or service wanted at a specified price and time <supply and demand>
It seems as if there are two near-synonymous definitions here. It seems as if willingness and ability count as a demand and that the quantity of something count as a supply.
If I really want something, it seems as if I would have a high demand which correlates to your supply of having the quantity offered for sale. Particularly if your supply happens to be quite large.
In fact, price fixing based on alleged sticker rarity directly contradicts this supposed concept of Supply and Demand. Now far be it from me to suppose you do or do not know how many of what or which are floating around in the Dota economy, but I don't think you do.
If I choose to supply mythic finblades in exchange for just one common juggernaut's mask, then that would seem to be the supply I am offering for sale at that one time at that one price. Now, it may just be one finblade for just one mask, so it's hardly a constant market but it certainly isn't undermining the basic economy of any online virtual market.
If anything it's probably making up a fairly sizable portion of that economy outside of mass market traders. For instance, it seems reasonable that someone uninitiated in trading would pay two level 2 metals for a weapon that takes a level 3 metal and some parts to make. But if you went to a trade server and asked for that, no one would give you more than a scrap or a couple of crates for your gun.
It's almost as if economies are flexible and somewhat subjective things and that supply and demand are not objective quantities that you can fix or set or apply particular rules to without undermining basic concepts of a free market.
Then again, what do I know. I just opened up a dictionary and read off two entries. You must be Yanis Varoufakis posting anonymously on a public forum. Please Yanis, tell us what your studies have proven.
30 min in the queue and still no match found
Speaking about predictions can someone help me with mine?

okay completely misinterpret what I said in context that's a great way to start a debate
mythicals aren't just mythical because valve says they are, they're desired because they're good looking items (or in this case, animations). that increases demand, as you well know. valve then intentionally limits supplies by making mythical items rarer in drops and unlocking chests, driving a theoretical price even higher
rares are slightly less rare than mythicals, slightly less good-looking than mythicals, and therefore worth less than mythicals. can you trade your mythical for a rare? of course you can, its your item. do what you want with it. but good luck being on the other side and wanting a mythical for your rare - you'll be hard pressed to find a seller who's looking to lose "money" in a trade.
also, supply and demand doesn't apply to case-by-case, it's a trend. your explanation was pretty bad there.

My advice:
Predict sub 18 win in East (If LGD.cn draws someone like mineski oh god will it get ugly)
Rubick/leshrac will be the most picked due to their universal nature and never being banned
Kotl will die the most (Venomancers tend to die more than kotl but kotl is more common so overall kotls will have more death)
Mag/bat will probably eat the most bans overall.
