No Man's Sky - "The indie game that stole the show at E3"

Does anyone have this for the PS4? After all of these updates I've toyed with the idea of picking this up but I don't know how well it runs on PS4, also I take it all these updates have made this game something pretty decent?
I have it on ps4 and perfomance is...kinda mixed. if you keep the framerate cap at 30 FPS it will hit that pretty much all of the time, if you uncap the framerate though it fluctuates quite a lot. From what im reading it seems to be more stable than PC though?, Also some stuttering when going into a new planet or loading a huge chunk of a new building ( this one seems a bit random )
On PS4, and I have an annoying bug where the door to my base just...VANISHES.
I'm constantly rebuilding the door because it disappears whenever I leave and return to the area.
Aside from that, got a Scanner Module S for my gun, and am raking in the money.
Make sure toe dig out ruins, you can find things, somethings that won't show up on the visor or scanner.

Seems to run perfectly fine on my 1050ti. Got dropped on a Pluto-like frozen iceball, which makes me miss winter as i'm currently sweating my balls off.
GOG doesn't have multiplayer and won't for a while. They say it's coming later this year but this is Hello Games we're talking about here, you can't listen to what they say, just look at what they do
I'm on the fence on whether or not I should just start from scratch. I feel like I had made some pretty good progress before. I had a pretty good mining tool/gun, a 48 slot fighter, and my inventory space was maxed out. I feel like I'll be totally lost when I reinstall this, but at the same time, I don't want to lose all my shit.
The new start up shows basic base building and newer features in the tutorial. Plus the game looks way better so starting from scratch is nice.
I'd recommend starting from scratch. They've changed a lot with how things are generated so your planets/ships and stuff could be broken anyway. Plus all the elements have changed too.
Has anyone never played the game before and just bought it? If so, how are your first impressions?
The game prompted me to build a base much sooner than I expected, so I settled a cozy little wooden cabin on a tiny island in the middle of a giant ocean.

I really like this game.
You guys sicken me. It's actually a feature complete game now and I can't even play it because.... inexplicable reasons for shit performance
Some shots from todays session.
Found a station that sat on a planetary ring.

And my first completely ocean planet! Actually had to search for a while to find land.

My performance is awful. It actually took a fair amount of tweaking for me before I could jump into the update. Could I ask if you're using a AMD GPU? NMS has an awful history with AMD CPU's, so if that's the case I could probably offer some advice on getting the performance to a playable level.
If you're not on AMD, I still have some tidbits if you haven't tried serious troubleshooting yet. The "TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML" file has a lot of useful things to play around with.
Also, I wish I nabbed some screenshots or even recorded this, but I landed on a planet classified as "terraforming disaster," which was covered in "whispering eggs." Cracking one of them opened summoned a swarm of "biological horrors" that completely overwhelmed me. I had to duck back into my ship and wait out the swam, like 10 of them all clawing at my ship. After awhile the swarm subsided, the game literally referring to it as a swarm.
Cool stuff.
Are you allowed to land the ship yourself now and actually crash? or does it still handhold you?
You can crash now, it's been in the game for a long time.
You can't exactly 'crash', unless I'm severely mistaken. You can collide with stuff and take damage, but your planet is still rather bouncy off the ground. You still have to "hold E" to initiate landing over a clear spot. It all feels much better than it did before, but it's not quite up to scratch with what a lot of people expect out of ship controls.
-Performance is not great considering I have an i7 7700k, 16gb ram, and a 970 and still dip down to 20-30fps in open fields. IMO the graphics aren't great to begin with but I may be biased since my last mental image of NMS' graphics is the fucking Oneyplays video.
-This Kinect-era hold the LMB down to select menu options nonsense is the stupidest UI/UX decision to exist.
-The tutorial stages are a little roundabout but considering the different scanners and beacons I've been introduced to so far, it's fairly understandable.
-Spaceship control is strange but serviceable. It's like a clunkier version of Star Citizen's mouse controls at times.
-I had one crash that very nearly hard-locked windows.
I know I've barely even gotten to anything Next added, but so far I'm only sticking with it partly because I'm hoping it can eventually be the Spore/Elite crossover I've been wanting, and partly because I'm over the steam refund time limit.
You can build landing platforms underwater, and you can call your ship to them, but you can't land on them yourself if they're too far below the water.
I found a Star System earlier today that completely changes your colour pallet (unless you're in your ship). I warped into it on my freighter and the warp vortex was the first thing I saw that changed colour.

That's pretty metal.

Okay, stumbling upon the wreck of a crashed freighter on some desolate, frozen wasteland is fuckin' rad. I'm so sold on this game at the moment, although I'm only around three hours into the new update.
And yeah, this thread is gonna become my screenshot dumping ground.
so the game tutorial prompted me to build a base, I built one but realize the console is in a bad place where I cant build on, so I deleted the base think I would be able to pick up the console again. It turns out it literally 'delete' your base. Welp
I'm really enjoying this game a lot more than I did 2 years ago.
I warped to a solar system and stumbled upon a bunch of pirates trying to blow up a freighter. I helped out and killed the pirates, and the alien dude who owns the freighter invited me onboard and was like "I can't deal with this shit anymore, just take my entire fleet".
So here I am, captain of entire fleet, owner of a capital ship, and I haven't even upgraded past my first multi-tool.
Bought it, trying to stay below the 2hr mark while I make tweaks to make the performance acceptable. It seems like it could be a lot of fun but how the hell can the Xbox 1S run this at 4k60fps?
Pretty sure it can't
The Xbox One X can run the game in 1440p/60 or 4k/30
Sucks to hear the performance issues. I'm having no issues at all. I have the occasional dip in FPS, but it stays above 50 which is fine for my standards. I also never changed a setting except I put textures up to ultra and turned off motion blur.
My computer is kind of old too: i7-6700k, GTX 980, 16gb ram.
It seems to be pretty random but mostly afflicts AMD owners unfortunately. I have an R5-1600 and an RX 480 and my FPS is never above 40...it's still playable, but it really sucks sometimes.
AMD seems to be getting it worse, but there's plenty of 1080's even being utter shit, and the ones that are running fine are only barely touching 60 fps
Well, I decided to take the plunge and bought it. Played it a bit solo on survival, and then normal with a friend. I'm actually having fun with NMS!
Figured I'd go ahead and share some bits of my short journey so far.
This is the planet I started out on. It may look beautiful, but it's actually a TOXIC HELL HOLE. Took a fair bit to escape from.

I figured such a toxic yet pleasant looking planet could use a name, so I gave it the first name that came to mind.

And that's about the extent of my journey so far. All I know is, I'm now in this for the long haul, because there's no going back.
